Kaufman DA killer seeks new trial, citing newly discovered ‘brain damage’

"Attorneys for Eric Williams want a new trial for the convicted killer, saying that his “brain is broken” and that newly discovered “brain damage” could have changed the outcome of his trial.

Williams was sentenced to death in December for assassinating the Kaufman County district attorney, his wife and a top prosecutor....

“Actions speak louder than images,” said Morse, a professor of psychology and law in psychiatry, as well as a law professor. “If the behavioral history does not justify mitigation, then a broken brain should not be, per se, a mitigator. If the behavioral history shows diminished rationality, then mitigation would be warranted even if the brain appeared normal..."

Thank you very much, ATL. I look forward to this. As I've mentioned my father was there. He was a dentist and was in the US Army medical corp, Patton's Third Army

Sure

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
1 small yellow onion, chopped
4 cups frozen shredded hash browns
1 pound bulk sausage, mild, hot or sage
2 1/4 cups whole milk
8 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
8 cups cubed French or Italian bread, crusts removed
2 cups (1/2 pound) grated Cheddar
2 cups (1/2 pound) freshly grated Parmesan
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Spray a deep 13 by 9-inch casserole dish with vegetable oil cooking spray.

Melt the butter in a large frying pan. Add the onion and saute over medium-low heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the hash browns and break apart. Saute until soft, about 5 minutes.

In a second frying pan, saute the sausage, breaking apart large clumps. When the sausage is cooked through, remove it from pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, eggs, salt, pepper, nutmeg and mustard, briskly to blend.

To assemble, spread the onions and hash browns evenly at the bottom of the greased dish. Place the bread cubes evenly on top of hash browns. With a slotted spoon distribute sausage as the third layer. Pour the milk and egg mixture over these layers. Add Parmesan as the next layer, while then adding the Cheddar.

Bake the casserole, uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
Use any combo of veggies or meats...I like sausage and peppers...
I serve it with just a green salad...Yum Yum:D

Curious in Indianna, not part of the sidebar?..............Pshaw!!!!<------ something "Cooter" might say, lol!

I see here that you're a card carrying member of said sidebar, maybe you didn't get the memo? Or maybe I just got sent the "forwarded" copy and you didn't get the original, seems like there's been a bit of that happening lately *coughemailtoabecough* but I digress...........

Slightly O/T (is there O/T in sidebar?)

Remember when we were all waiting for JSS to release the transcripts from JA's super secret testiphony, and then it came out how much the transcripts would cost, which brought about the discussion on how court reporters earn money off the billing of transcripts?

Just saw this in my local news feed:

Betty Petersen, Kimberly Probst and Tammy Stine were arrested last September after an investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Police learned that since 2006, the three had billed the county for court transcripts that did not exist. They also expanded the spacing in their reports to increase the number of pages transcribed.

Approximately one hour before the trial starts this afternoon.

How about an oldy but a goody while we wait for trial to start:

Nurmi will be filing a "broken brain" motion before the end of the week, mark my words. [emoji55]

You know, I am no longer angry at the DT for the affidavit they submitted from mystery witness #1. It actually was beautiful, dramatic, screaming proof of the depths to which JA and her DT (term used loosely) and the timing was perfect. Prove to the jury right before you close your case what a cold hearted, calculating person you are. It was absolutely the best thing they ever could have done to cement her fate. Thanks DT!!!
