We had another earthquake a bit ago. It felt like a car had ran into the house. I wonder what type of one it was. If it was a induction or a slip strike. It felt much stronger then the last one.

Wow, Zuri! In this case,I'm not directly concerned but anyhow: you seem to be an expert and so generous - wonderful!

I am not an expert by any means, but nursing experience has taught me something. Having a physician for a husband helps in some cases, as I can get a response pretty quickly. Well maybe. Sometimes. Occasionally.

Was in Baltimore yesterday for the 140th Preakness. Saw on the news today that it was a record crowd. I find that hard to believe, attendance didn't seem that strong; but good on them if it's true.

Not to take anything away from American Pharaoh who proved that he is truly a great horse, but the real story was the weather! Torrential rains came in just before the race; instant mud puddles, poor visibility, high winds, thunder and ominous black skies added to the already dramatic event. What a chaotic mess! So grateful no horses or people were injured.

In the field of just 8 horses, I picked Bodhisattva (as a nod to Steely Dan). Of course he came in dead last :/

Still, it was great to visit "Charm City" and see that after all the turmoil in the past few weeks it still lives up to its name. Fun place and friendly people. Stay strong, Baltimore!

I was parked in front of the tv watching. Your pick was ridden by Trevor McCarthy, who is a friend of my youngest daughter. So sorry he came in last. I think the rain affected all but 1 horse, American Pharoah. I hope there will be a Triple Crown winner this year. The Belmont truly tests a horse's mettle. I truly hope they don't move the Preakness to Laurel. I like tradition.

Dmacky, you made me lol at the story. Glad you got to view more than one room!

ILTBP, I hope you are safe where you are. I have only experienced the one earthquake here on the East Coast that originated in Virginia. My house shook and the dog gate swung and hit the wall, so I thought it was the 2 dogs trying to get out at the same time. Then I saw the news. I was in Delaware and the effects were widespread, with bricks falling off of buildings in Philadelphia. Please stay safe.

Zuri, I had just deleted that post because it makes me sound like a horrible person! I know now that I should have told her about the rug, but that was 17 years ago, and with age comes wisdom!

I really didn't get to see much of the house at all. I believe it was kind of the "helps" kitchen, as it was very small. And the bathroom that we used was pretty close to the pool. I didn't get to REALLY see the GOOD part of the house.

I had to go to have a Functional Capacity Exam this morning, requested by the Defense in my Worker's Comp case. This was my 4th one in 6 years, as the Defense (my former employer) keeps trying to send me back to work. Every one of their experts they have sent me to have stated I could not work, even part time. My back is royally screwed up and I have pretty excruciating pain all day, every day.

I rarely travel, so when I do, I have to stress dose on steroids, which I hate. For KCL's shower, I was on 24 mg/day, just so I could sit on a plane and be able to celebrate her day. I have weaned off since then and as I do, the pain roars back. I have a huge pain threshold and I don't complain about the pain, because who wants to hear it? I can tolerate a lot, but today, having to perform these tasks, without benefit of steroids or pain meds, I cried. I cussed too. More out of frustration than anything else.

They ask you questions about what you can and can't do. I have compensated for so long, I have no conscious clue as to what I do. I guess they think a 58 year old person with a very screwed up back, gets better with age and time. Wrong. They don't like paying me a lot of money every month and could care less about me as a person. There is no recourse for people on WC, as the insurance industry rules without much regulation. Thank you Big Money/PACS/Lobbyists.

Sorry for the Rant. I needed to vent to my friends. Xo

Just kinda venting here;
My BF did it again, alienated another person I had a good working relationship with for over 25 years, MY mechanic........AURGH!
BF was screwing around with his drive line for the last 2 weeks, he removed it twice and the last time he put it on, he either got a needle bearing or 2 on the bottom of the bearing cap, or didn't grease it up properly. Well, going to the bank on Friday, the bearing cap basically tore apart and destroyed not only the u-joint it was set in, but also the u-joint at the other end.
Being he was close in distance to MY mechanic, he took it there. He made some type of agreement with Blake. Evidently, he did not understand what that agreement was.
Blake basically told him to get off his business property this morning. BF called me and went on some "It was him, not me" story, and it's all about the dementia. Same story I've been hearing more frequently in the last 5 years. The BF turns into an Ahole, doesn't put a filter on his mouth, and friends I've had up here for ages just disappear. It's just getting worse.

I don't know how or if I can fix it with Blake. He's the guy I go for when there's a MAJOR vehicle issue, like one I need to take care of, an oil leak between the pulley and camshaft. Honestly, my neighbors up here avoid any interaction whatsoever with him, and he's done a damn good job of isolating me from just about everyone.

This totally sucks, I am so angry!!!!! :gaah:

Dmacky! You didn't sound like a bad person at all! No harm, no foul. Do you really think any of those guests that come to her parties spill nothing? Better yet, even try to clean it up? Heck no. They leave it for the "staff" to clean up.

Can you send Blake a card or cookies? I bet if he understands what you are dealing with, he would be very understanding. Many people don't recognize or understand dementia. Those afflicted deserve compassion, not anger, for they know not what they do. Xo

You know what, Zuri?
Sometimes I think these lawyers drag on medical issues hoping someone will just die.
They did it with an insurance suit against my BF's brother (punctured lung, multiple rib fractures,1 week hospital stay), claiming he had caused a motorcycle accident, when it was the other guy who actually cut the brother off on his bike.........long story short, counter suit, 4 years, and the other guy's attorney was waiting for his clients cancer to kill him................WTH. Brother won.

And with the stupid easement lawsuit. The neighbor filing it had prostate cancer, our title company countered........what a waste of time. We won.

I hate lawyers.

I don't think Blake remembered me telling him about Don's condition when I talked to him about 4 months ago.......yep, I'm really doing some thinking on this one.

quick question - I see some people on here -
does anyone know the site where you can match an image with a match on the computer? What I mean is - my Huz took a picture of a plant he wants to know what it is - isn't there a place on the net where you can do that? match images?

TIA! :seeya:

Well, as a glutton for punishment, I have decided to re-breed my Thoroughbred mare. I am breeding her to Cartier R again as the dead filly was really perfect...:(. The filly looked just like her sire, who is drop dead gorgeous. If only... My vet will breed her on Wednesday, as the stallion will be collected tomorrow in Georgia and the semen shipped overnight via Fed Ex. Hopefully it won't get lost or delayed.

TIA!

I'll try and post each separately hoping it will be big picture and not a thumbnail...

Aww!

Another reason I chose Bodhisattva was because his jockey, Trevor McCarthy, was not only the youngest jockey of the group, but Preakness Day was also his 21st birthday. He seems like such a nice kid. What a tremendous coming-of-age moment that would have been for him!

Alas, that was not to be, but I agree that we are overdue for a Triple Crown winner. I hope this will be the year. And you're right, the Belmont Stakes is the truest test of all three races because of the extended distance. Perhaps that's why they have 3 weeks between the Preakness and Belmont and only 2 weeks between the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness (the shortest race)? It's a rare horse who has the kind of athleticism, finesse, stamina and character to win all three (not to mention, needing to have a great jockey aboard!).

I also agree with you about keeping the Preakness in Baltimore. Moving it to Laurel would be as bad a move as relocating the Redskins from DC to Landover, MD was. Not the same at all. I went to one game there and decided never again.

Traditions are called traditions because they remain the same year after year. What don't people get about that? :)
