Pages, I have been thinking about you all last night and first thing this morning. If Lily had a head CT after the MVC, and it showed the hairline fracture and the mother was not told, they may have missed it. On the other hand, the hairline fracture could have been present prior to the crash... I am not seeing how Lily could have sustained a skull fracture being protected the way she was by not only the car seat, but by the adults who threw themselves on top of her. Something doesn't add up...

I feel horrible for you. I can't imagine how stressful this must be for you. Lily's injuries don't add up for me either to be consistent with accidental. A straw or pencil or pen could have been used to tear her esophagus as I am still confused as to what type of suction they were using at home. I am glad that the MIL is being kept away and I pray that the new daddy is not left alone at all with Lily.

Lily is so lucky to have you and your sister involved now as I know you would not allow anyone to hurt this baby. As I have DH MD at my beck and call ;), please don't hesitate to post any questions about any findings you don't have a clear explanation for. He too was bothered by the suction thing and asked me about it when he got home. Which he never does.

We are all here to help you in our own way. You are loved. Xo

Holy Moly, went walking at 4:45 this morning, it was 90 degrees out. WTH, heard it was supposed to get up to 115, YIKES! I was wondering, does the evil one have to go outside? Or can she stay in her inside cage where she needs a sweatshirt because her swamp cooler is so cold?

I an not feeling well today, slept most of the day. The weather is just miserable here and calling for all the rains and storms from Tropical Storm Bill settle in tomorrow and stick around far a few days. It's so hot/muggy outside it is causing my o2 stat rates drop down and makes me so very tired. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. :)

Zuri, have I told you lately that I love you? You are so thoughtful and helpful, and your knowledge along with the MD's concern are so helpful. Thanks bunches, friend!

Coffeejunkie, I hadn't connected the weather, but I bet that is why I also feel so drained lately. Having trouble with exhaustion here.

Niner, the pic in the field of flowers is positively gorgeous!!

Y/N, what a gorgeous pic this morning

Pages, sending prayers and hugs your way. How is Lily today?

Think will stick around here for a few and read. I can rest my weary head in my hand.

I can hear thunder in the distance, maybe the rains will be here sooner than expected.

My DD works with CPS and I was talking to her about baby Lily and she said it's illegal here in IN to ask the father give up his parental rights. They are taken from them and must be proof by the court system that there is no other options. She said it is normal too place Lily in protective custody when something like this happens, until they can investigate and figure out the facts. Also, the home where dad's mom lives must be BAD for them say that Lily cannot go back there! Said she has seen really bad conditions in homes and the kids went back. Go figure?

Hey all, just talked with little bro's girlfriend, and it turns out Saturday night a young doctor gave him fluids, but his chart distinctly said "NO FLUIDS", so bro died of drowning in his lungs... he didn't die of the cancer...

GF had them do an autopsy and questioned all the staff (doctors/nurses) that night! She said she wrote it all down, and will send me a copy of it. Should be interesting to read, and I'm "thinking" wrongful death" suit against UCLA Cancer Medical center - maybe... Seems the young doctor screwed up a bit! :gaah:

At least I found out that she is having a memorial service at his church - Lake of The Woods Church in Lake Hughes. Probably in a couple of weeks, once she gets everything else settled and she said she would let me know, as I plan on driving down south. His church has offered the church, reception room, food and services all for free! Takes the burden off his GF to pay for all this.

Anyway... back to reading at the Holmes trial :pcguru:

Reading off and on - Lily can never be around new daddy's mother because of her mental and criminal records. Now that keeps you awake at night trying to figure what the hell is wrong with her.

CPS asked him to sign that he gave them control of Lily being treated. He said he really didn't know what all he signed. Little mama told them no she wasn't doing it. The dr.'s called her yesterday and ask for permission for surgery for Lily.

No one has seen Lily yet, she is considered a foster child for the next fourteen days. Loli-Pop's attorney got back in Dallas this morning and is filing papers with the court. She said that CPS has no authority to stop Loili-Pop from seeing their grandchild.

In the police raid they took the suction bulb and Lily's binkies and bottles. They did find a piece of skin on the tip of the blub that did match up with the tears in her esophagus.

Was looking at Niner's family pics and they are all so sweet and innocent. Makes me sad seeing how young we all were at one time and in a blink of an eye...were are here! Did we ever think what life would throw our way...

I'm so glad you will be going to the memorial and you talked to his G/F. Sounds like someone sure did mess up! (((hugs)))

The sentence should read "I know you would NOT allow anyone to hurt this baby". I left out the NOT and I am so sorry Pages if I offended you in any way. I alerted my post and asked the Mod to insert NOT. I hope you know what I meant when I wrote it and understood the spirit of my post. I think you are simply lovely and I am so sorry I omitted the word. Xo

Zuri, I read your original post and did not even notice you missed a word, I read it the way you intended. I hope Pages did, too. (ETA: I see mods did correct it by adding NOT for you. :tyou: )

Niner... it does sound like someone messed up with your brother's care, and for that I am very sorry.

Pages .... there is so much you are trying to process right now. I hope you are getting some rest. Minds have a way of jabbering nonstop when we need sleep. Hugs, my friend.

Me again! :D

GF called me and asked if there was anything of my bro's I would like! Told her about the sweatshirt - YES! I can have it!! He really liked it and even wore it in the hospital when he was cold!

He liked to write short stories and we will be getting copies of his short stories that he wrote; she also said he wrote on her blog - and I've attached the link so you can read "The Catch" - about our ventures to the Russian River to catch crayfish. I did not know I had such a talented brother! At least I think so! LOL!

YES! So happy you are getting the sweatshirt. You will cherish it forever :)

Off to read his blog...

Just finished reading...how delightful! Very descriptive :)

The suction bulb was the old fashion nose sucker. And they didn't do any x rays or scans the night of the wreck. The dr. at Childrens say the healing is around that time, so it could of been before r shortly after. I guess we'll never know. She has had all kinds of scans and x rays on Monday when she got there. During the endoscopic (how I hate auto correct) yesterday they said that the tears didn't need repairing , that they would heal on their own. We've heard that she has a pik line in her leg and a tube down her nose for now.

Little mama met with the detectives this morning and they want to know if she trusts new daddy with Lily. She said they tried to get her to say she thought he hurt her on purpose.

They dr. opinion is (unless it changes in the final report) is that it happened as new daddy said and that he hurt her doing the suction and pounding on her back in panic. The blood coming up was from the suction bulb making the first tear, and he panicked and suction her three more times, each time getting more blood and he called 911. I don't know if the detectives are satisfied with that answer.

We've heard that they will have to take parenting classes, which is the normal process in getting Lily back from CPS, in the mean time my other niece and her daughter cleaned her clean home (I think it's more nerves. Our family tends to clean and cook in times like these) in case Lily goes there. She told her husband to get ready for a baby or little mama, that they were getting one of them.

I want to believe this explanation - but kinda holding my breath in case it wasn't an accident and someone got away with it this time and the next time the outcome may be far worse.

I'm still wondering about new daddy's mother and her "mental and criminal records". She's given up three children (or had them taken away from her?) starting at age sixteen when her parents told her to give the baby up because the father was black (Lily is bi racial, and so far we're not impressed with her straight hair, We want curls. I guess our playing dress up with be braids and ponytails) and the next two that she gave up for whatever reason. Then she had four more ( all girls so far) then new daddy her only son. New daddy's father stabbed the mother several times and has been in prison for that and a lot of other reason we don't know since new daddy was very young. New daddy is the only one that has anything to do with her. One daughter found her, and her mother took her checkbook and cleaned out her bank account. None of the other girls have anything to do with her.

I know we can't pick ( even though we picked Pop for Loli and wasn't going to let him go. There is a story of madness and murder and Loli sixteen and pregnant by a sociopath who killed his mother on Mothers Day (aunt who had been raising him when his mother committed suicide when he was three), and Pop falling in love with Loli and supporting and marrying her and raising her son. We'll discuss nurture v nature another time. I say nature in this case) boyfriends and spouses and the baggage they might bring Or their parents. I know even through all we've been through in our lives we're pretty decent folks. We're clean hardworking middle class who take care of our children and grandchildren, not one of us have had CPS or anyone declared our homes unfit or a person to be kept away from them. I don't understand people sometimes.

Also Zuri if you could ask your husband about a virus that is going around in the metroplex. My brother called and told my sister that his grandson and son had a virus that caused blisters and his son had blisters on his feet. Lily did go to her pedi for a upper respiratory infection two weeks ago with a slight temp and then the blisters. I've looked online but the photo's I've seen aren't like what was on Lily's arm.

Here's a picture of my Dad and a friend of his getting ready to go crayfishing!

I'm so happy about the sweatshirt; especially happy to learn that he liked it and got to wear it!

His writing is very good. He comes across as honest and authentic. Just the right amount of detail and no extraneous BS.

I love the beautiful illustration mid-way down the page, and especially like the way he ended his story:

"The laughter. The fun. The smell of the salty brine water, as if the ocean had come into our home to waft of it's pleasure. The family of it all. The love in it all. It was one of the most memorable, and tastiest, nights in my life."

You were truly fortunate to have had such a wonderful brother.

After everything you've shared, I have totally fallen love in love with him, which makes me even more sad I'll never have the chance to meet him. :( But your stories and photos have reinforced my faith in good people and good families. :)

Niner, your brother was an amazingly talented writer! That story brought back many happy childhood moments of fishing with my dad at night, and camping, and gramma cooking, and many other pleasures of youth. I would love to read more of his writings. And I am thrilled you will be getting the sweatshirt, and that HE GOT TO WEAR IT!!

I might be weird, but I hope she hasn't washed it. When my BF died, I took so much comfort in smelling his scent on the clothes he wore in the days before his accident.

GigiG, I understand. But even if she has, I would still be able to find it comforting knowing he had worn it, and I would feel free to wear (and wash) it as often as I wanted. Either way would work out just fine, I think.

Pages, I will ask him tomorrow first thing. What came to mind was hoof, hand and mouth disease which is actually a virus. Can you describe the blisters or bites for me as best you can? Color? Raised or flat? Pattern? Size? Diameter? Location?
