cj ~ That sounds great to me! I would love to meet up with you!

But first I have/NEED to get over this very rough patch in my life right now...unless you want to see a grown woman continuously cry. It aint pretty

My joy from cleaning out drawers and closets comes from having more space to put new junk and clutter!

And just for a laugh ( some questionable language, IMO, but bleeped out  )

The little old lady in the pink blouse reminds me so much of my mil. Her accent, the way she held her crooked finger. Her whole attitude is Adilia. We watched the Godfather every day. All three of them. I waited on her hand and foot those last months of her life. She called me her companion. She'd motion me to lean near, so she could tell me a secret, and told me that she loved being babied. She'd be ninety one in August this year.

My dh and I would to eat at a little neighborhood Italian restaurant every Saturday for over thirty years, and they'd play plenty of "Italian" music. Their bread is wonderful. Not cookie cutter bread sticks, and severed with real butter. We held hands across the table.

This is hilarious:
Trump is an hour late for his speech in Phoenix, the people there have NO seats to sit on, and they're playing COUNTRY MUSIC.

1979 - The space station Skylab crashes to Earth after 6 years in space. Leading up to the event, Electric Light Orchestra take out ads in trade magazines dedicating their new single, Don't Bring Me Down, to Skylab.

I'm giving Kondo's tidying up method a go, so please wish me luck. I have to say, I've gone through one large drawer and discarded about half of it's contents. That said, I also find the "does it spark joy?" part to be somewhat of a challenge. Because none of the stuff in this drawer, not one single item did that, lol. FWIW, it's mostly work out gear- stretch pants, tights and shorts, and none of them gave me a spark of joy, they are just practical, comfy work out clothes. Sheesh, I can't discard everything, lol. So I guess I must be missing something. :abnormal:
Well, hopefully I'll find some joy in another drawer, or at least in my hang-ups... I'd sure hate to end up with a virtually empty closet. :giggle: Is anyone else doing this tidying thing besides me ? If so, could you tell me how to go about finding some "joy" in my stuff? :o
ETA: Maybe I'm approaching this tidying and joy thing all wrong. After all, the less items I have to fold and put back the better, right?

I'm afraid if I have to only keep clothing that sparked JOY..I'd have none. I guess I'm past any age where clothing causes me to have joy, just a necessity really.

"Joy" doesn't have to be all jubilation and ecstacy, IMO. It could mean a sort of "appreciation" instead? So you work out, wear your work out clothes, and appreciate that these articles of clothing you wear to perform your exercise keep you covered, cool, supple (as able to move), whatever, so therefore they give you some semblance of a sort of "joy".

How about that?

Not everything gives "joy", IMO. Some things are "needs"- like tampons or hemorrhoid gel.
So do you get rid of a box of tampons because you have 3 boxes instead of 1? No. But maybe if you had 50 boxes?

Do you have 50 workout outfits or just 3 in that drawer? Do they fit, feel good when you are exercising? Good enough, IMO... :) And anyway- you are exercising (something I don't do:facepalm:) and that is a joy because you are able to exercise (some can't or don't) to feel healthy, therefore.....

and there you go- your exercise clothes are "joyful".

Too convoluted reasons??? :scared: I'm trying for a reasonable answer for you. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Hey, that's a great way of putting it YorN, I just need an attitude adjustment :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

And, :drumroll: I got three whole drawers done, and I am done for the day. :woohoo: Anyone wanna dance? John Travolta's pretty hot here, huh. :floorlaugh:

1999 - Ricky Martin started a three week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Livin' La Vida Loca'. A US No.1 for 5 weeks. The song was the first No.1 song to be recorded, edited, and mixed totally on a DAW (digital audio workstation).

Hey all!
Late getting here...
Yep - they kept the Huz overnight, so I got some take-out Chinese food (Mongolian beef); tried calling this morning, FINALLY got thru to him, and he wasn't sure IF he'd get to go home today! He said "I told you if they kept me last night, that they'll keep me here FOREVER!!!" He was NOT a happy camper! So went to visit with him this morning about 10am. He was drugged up - thankfully - no pain in back! LOL! So, wasn't sure again what they were going to do with him; they were keeping him in there NOT for his back, but his heart was doing weird stuff. He has heart problems from 2011 when he almost died... So I went home, before I stopped at McDonald's and got the Huz some Minions they had there for sale - they DO NOT swear!! I guess some mothers are complaining the Minions swear - but it's JUST jibberish!! My god people...!! He likes the Minions! Anyway - he called me about 1pm and they were releasing him!!! YAY!!! No fast food tonight! LOL! And they gave him a prescription for Percocet, so he's all set if he has pain in his back! That's all he wanted last night from the ER! Oh on his heart condition of why they kept him - I guess his blood was getting enough oxygen and his heart rate was 123. But that corrected itself, so that's why they released, PLUS I think he was giving everyone a hard time - trying to get released from the hospital!!
He's sleeping right now as they IV'd morphine early this morning and gave him some Percocet before releasing him. He'll be out for awhile. I can hear him snoring! :D

The last time I cleaned out my closet was when we thought we were going to move to Latvia. I took a LOT of clothes to Goodwill! I should do it again... but like neesaki - once a year is enough! LOL!

I LOVE Dean Martin!! :luv: In fact back in the 1960s when he had his show, I got to go see one of them. Plus the Huz made me a CD of Dean Martin songs! :skip:

Okay - the kitties want to climb up on my lap and take a nap - they've been running around here playing for about 2 hours! :kitty: So going to sign off for the night!

Take care everyone! :seeya:

Minions? What the heck are minions? .......... I had to look that one up. So McDonald's is giving out talking toys in Happy Meals that swear, hey? Some people just look for something to be what it is not so they can sue for nonsensical crud. Thanks for the lesson, Niner. Glad your DH is home and doing better. Enjoy your kitties' cuddles.

Minions: much ado about nothing, IMO.

McDonald's says 'small number' of customers have complained 'Minions' toy uses curse words

"...McDonald's told the website Mashable that the Minion toy actually says "para la bukay," "hahaha" and "eh eh." "The allegation that this toy is saying anything offensive or profane is not true," a spokesperson told Mashable....
