Niner I trying to reply! This site is really hard to maneuver. So bad yesterday I went off , came back and tried to just read. Why is it bad for so long? I couldn't get in for verdict on Jhesseys page. We had a remote just like that. I think its still down the basement. I hope these boards are fixed soon. Another death from shooting..An Ohioan..we are sad. Paulding is very near Indiana. May MO roast IN HELL.~~Everyone please know I thank you for info on all sites. My button seldom works! Nore
:loveyou:

Oh that God, Nore I thought it was just me, and I'm still having trouble. There are no options to bold something, change font etc; there are no buttons for adding a video or link. My pages are the full page where as before it was weighted towards the left and I had a two inch space on the right where ads could be. The last part of the page number is barley showing and you can't change to the next page. The pages were also blue and yellow.

This is the sweetest little boy, he's only three years old, and says he dances because it makes his mom laugh, and to make others happy because he's happy. What a little angel

I think some of us had a similar problem back around October 2014. I tried to find the old technical threads where we discussed it, but they seem to have been all deleted since Dave (tech guy) came aboard. I did find in our Sidebar posts fro. around that time that some were helped by clicking the x to close a yellow banner at the top of the page .... it got rid of the yellow borders, anyway. Maybe you can try that?

Why would they remove all our old technical helpful posts?

BBM I haven't read any updates yet, but since the authorities don't know if Abdulazeez was acting as a "terrorist" (as the Boston Bombers did) or was just a "nut" (as the Colorodo theatre shooter), I can't assume that it was a terrorist shooting yet, but I do understand what you are saying Neesaki. :therethere: It's very frustrating that people are dying for "causes" that make no sense to us.

AND- how do you tell the ISIS terrorists from a Muslim who is not ISIS?

(Update: CNN - Homeland Security Chairman calls attack "ISIS-Inspired" 5:21 PM)
----------------------------------

The article you posted stated :

"The FBI confirmed 24-year-old Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez was the shooter who opened fire on a military recruiting center and reserve center in Chattanooga on Thursday morning....

Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and had Jordanian citizenship before becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen, officials said...

Officials don't yet have a motive for the shooting...

Multiple people who say they went to high school with Abdulazeez sent the Times Free Press photos of what appears to be his senior picture and quote in his high school yearbook.

"My name causes national security alerts," his quote reads. "What does yours do?"...

"Authorities have not determined whether it was an act of terrorism or whether it was a criminal act," Reinhold said. "We are looking at every possible avenue, whether it was terrorism - whether it was domestic, international - or whether it was a simple, criminal act."..

-----------------------------------------

I pulled this excellent article that I had previously posted on the Boston Bombing thread (I learned some things about terrorists while posting the tweets):

Why Teens Become Terrorists and What Schools Can Do

"...According to Russell Razzaque, a London-based psychiatrist, there are particular experiences shared by teenagers who participate in terrorist activities. He argues most teenage "suicide bombers lacked a close intimate relationship, particularly with their same-sex parent." In addition, immigrant youngsters from minority racial, ethnic, linguistic, and religious groups often are disconnected from the broader society where they live. While all teenagers are in some stage of rebellion against parental and social authority, the experiences of young people from Islamic immigrant families living in Europe may make them especially susceptible to radical appeals and vulnerable to ideologues who charge that they and their compatriots are victims of unjust social institutions and religious prejudice by the majority population...
An article in The Christian Science Monitor argued that groups like ISIS have been successful in recruiting young people from Western countries "who are disillusioned and have no sense of purpose or belonging" through an "appeal to sense of identity and place." The article compared ISIS to youth or criminal gangs that offer "disaffected teens a chance to join a group that gives them purpose and meaning." This sense of belonging has special meaning to young people who drifted away from belief or were recent converts to Islam...."

FBI: ISIS message resonating with young people from U.S., West

The warning described the effectiveness of the terror group's social media message, which urges young people to travel to Syria and engage in jihad. It requested that local agencies pass on any relevant information to the Joint Terrorism Task Force..."

Why is ISIS so successful at luring Westerners?

"...It preys on a recruit's sense of identity
The recruits are often young -- sometimes disillusioned teenagers trying to find purpose and make their mark.
For many, it boils down to a lack of a sense of identity or belonging, Barrett said..."

Why Do People Join ISIS? The Psychology Of A Terrorist

The male warrior phenomenon

Huge numbers of Muslims are turning to ISIS because they want SEX, claims former Islamist, who says many resent the freedoms Western youths have.

"A former Islamist said he believes young British Muslim men are joining ISIS because they want sex. :sheesh:

Alyas Karmani said teenagers are at risk of being radicalised by terrorist groups because they feel isolated in 'sexualised' British society, and resent not having the same freedoms of Western youths to have girlfriends and intimate relationships..."

I know that most people know that not all Muslims are ISIS. Some Muslims came/come to America for the same reasons that my father and mother came, even when they carry their traditions from their homeland with them, my parents considered themselves Americans (saying that Muslims, who look different and dress different, are ISIS terrorists is just like stating that all Italians are mobsters and belong to the Mafia or that my grandmother, who dressed completely in black for the rest of her life because my grandfather died, is not acceptable in order to be an American citizen, IMO).

'Deviant and Pathological': What Do ISIS Extremists Really Want?

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/is...l-what-do-isis-extremists-really-want-n194136

One more excellent article about what ISIS wants:

What ISIS Really Wants

"The Islamic State is no mere collection of psychopaths. It is a religious group with carefully considered beliefs, among them that it is a key agent of the coming apocalypse. Here’s what that means for its strategy—and for how to stop it....

We can gather that their state rejects peace as a matter of principle; that it hungers for genocide; that its religious views make it constitutionally incapable of certain types of change, even if that change might ensure its survival; and that it considers itself a harbinger of—and headline player in—the imminent end of the world...."

http://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2015/02/what-isis-really-wants/384980/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some may not want to understand what these terrorists want, but if you don't understand, how can you defeat them?
Terrorism is a problem for the whole world, IMO. I just don't know how these misguided individuals are going to be irradicated. I hope some nations will figure it out and stop this madness- sooner-rather-than-later.

Terrorism scares me and I worry for my children's future in a world that seems to have gone mad, so I have studied the terrorists, in depth. :scared:

:moo:
-----------------------------------------------------

Anyway, Neesaki :therethere:

:sigh:

:blowkiss:

Thanks YESorNO for your very thorough research on this subject. How sad is it that some of our young people are so disenfranchised as to want to rebel against the freedoms they have come to know and appreciate here?

I listened to a very interesting interview the other day on Fresh Air w/Terry Gross (NPR) with The Cartel author Don Winslow. It was quite enlightening to hear his opinion that ISIS learned from the Mexican drug cartels, not the other way around. So if you're like Donald Trump, even more reason to hate the Mexicans, and put them all in the same category as ISIS:

"On the new generation of cartel leaders and how they are similar to the self-proclaimed Islamic State:

It's not like the cartels are like ISIS; ISIS is like the cartels. Ten years before ISIS was releasing beheading videos, the cartels were doing it. They're very sophisticated. They know that they need, not only to control the action on the ground, but also the narrative, [to] control the story. I think ISIS is just taking a page from their playbook... The problem, similarly to ISIS, is they use these videos as recruiting tools. They're attractive to people who feel themselves to be powerless, they see these examples of ultimate power and it's quite attractive to them..."

I personally think that evil people come in all stripes, and that xenophobia -- in all its manifestations -- is a red herring and a detriment to productive society everywhere. Let's focus on the bad guys we can identify, not random groups of people, some of whom seem like bad guys. Without real evidence, if we persist in maligning whole groups of people, we're as complicit in terrorism as those actually performing the acts. Let's back off on painting all "others" with the same broad stroke. JMO.

1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The Ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve you, but don't start anything."

3. A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

4. A dyslexic man walks into a bra.

5. A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm and says: "A beer please. And one for the road."

6. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other: "Does this taste funny to you?"

7. "Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home.'"

"That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome."

"Is it common?"

Well, "It's Not Unusual."

8. Two cows are standing next to each other in a field. Daisy says to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning."

"I don't believe you," says Dolly.

"It's true, no bull!" exclaims Daisy.

9. An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.

10. Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.

11. I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.

12. A man woke up in a hospital after a serious accident. He shouted, doctor, doctor, I can't feel my legs!" The doctor replied, "I know you can't, I've cut off your arms!"

13. I went to a seafood disco last week... and pulled a mussel.

14. What do you call a fish without an eye? A fsh.

15. Two fish swim into a concrete wall. The one turns to the other and says "Dam!"

16. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

17. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. "But why," they asked, as they moved off. "Because," he said, "I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

18. Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

19. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him... A super-calloused, fragile, mystic, hexed by halitosis.

20. There was the person who sent twenty different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least ten of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did!!!!!!!!
