It's a beautiful night out. I was out moving the sprinklers again and the moon and the planets Venus and Jupiter light up the western sky.

On the evening of June 19, the waxing crescent moon sets first, followed by Venus and then Jupiter.

Each evening at dusk, the moon is a little higher in the western twilight. It’s visible from around the world, sweeping past the planets.

Nothing like chasing your dog all over your backyard, trying to take the baby possum from her to wake you up.

First time I have heard of this warning 'Non-Precipitation Message' - this is the 3day of this, saying cool down Wed!

The NWS has issued a Non-Precipitation Message
HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 90S COMBINED WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE 105 TO 110 DEGREE RANGE TODAY. THE HIGH EST READINGS WILL OCCUR IN THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON...HOWEVER UNCOMFORTABLE CONDITIONS WILL LINGER INTO THE EARLY EVENING. A HEAT INDEX OF 105 IS GENERALLY CONSIDERED THE THRESHOLD WHERE THE BODY BEGINS TO SUCCUMB TO THE EFFECTS OF THE HEAT... MAKING HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE A GREATER CONCERN IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

My thanks button is acting really UGLY today, but I do want you all to know how much I appreciate every thing our little group posts!

cj ~ It was horribly HOT yesterday too, and it was supposed to be my daughters wedding day. The actual "marriage" :puke: ceremony was going to be OUTSIDE :hot:
We had been trying to keep her busy, but she still cried all day :frown:

We are all going to my cousins house today who lives in Doe Valley. She has a beautiful place down there and a huge pontoon. Have you ever been there? Deer everywhere with those precious spotted babies... :heartbeat:
It's real close to Otter Creek. Should be a good day for her, HOPEFULLY

Stressed Italian Cows Get Air-Conditioned Sheds To Beat The Heat

"ROME (Reuters) - Italian farmers are installing showers and air conditioning in cowsheds and pigsties to allow the animals to freshen up in the baking summer heat, an agriculture group said on Thursday.
Farm animals in Italy -- particularly in the muggy agricultural heartland around the Po river near Milan -- are under stress as the mercury approaches 40 degrees Celsius (104°F) in the hottest July for more than a decade...."

Meet the average Wal-Mart shopper

"...According to the data, the average Wal-Mart shopper is a white, 50-year-old female with an annual household income of $53,125....
The chart below shows the breakdown of each chain's shoppers by generation. Dollar General has the highest percentage of shoppers who are Baby Boomers, while Target has the highest percentage of Millennials:

One ominous reason why Wal-Mart is bringing back greeters

"Wal-Mart is bringing back employees known as "greeters" to its store entrances.
The company is also adding a fleet of "asset protection customer specialists," who will check receipts as shoppers leave, The Wall Street Journal reports...."

The American Dream: Young People Are Not Buying it Anymore

"A lot of Americans are still clinging to the rapidly fading ideal of the ‘American Dream’. Millennials, brought up in an age of relative prosperity and economic stability (until the mid to late-2000s), were raised to set their sights on that dream, defining for themselves what that actually means. Those millennials, now dealing with the aftermath of the global recession and a sputtering economy, are finding out the hard way that they may never see that dream come to fruition...."

Chattanooga Muslims mourning, anxious after shootings

"...Ali said immigrants such as himself owe a debt of gratitude to America and the armed forces protect it, because they often know firsthand what it means to live in countries without personal freedoms or the rule of law. Near the end of the service Friday night, at Ali’s urging, dozens of Muslims received a standing ovation as they stood in support of their city and in allegiance to their nation..."
