Oh My Gosh! I am a homebody myself. Would rather be home than anywhere :) I hate shopping, even for groceries. Love my home, my time here at my home...why would I wanna be anywhere else? IMO

Hubby and I are taking off on Labor Day and going to the Smokey Mts. for are yearly timeshare cabin, but honestly, I'm not looking forward to it. Told him the other day that we should let the kids have our share.

I think what's effecting us so much right now about losing Bubby is he was the last dog/cat we had. We have always had 2 or 3 dogs and cats living in the house with us and it eased the pain of losing one of our fur babies. Hard too explain...Guess I am saying is that the house sure is empty without a fur baby in it! Been the first time in many, many years since we have not had one around. Hard adjusting...I'm almost positive we will be looking soon.

neesaki ~ I can relate also, I would have done the same thing you did!! This is the first time one of ours had passed at the vet. All the rest passed in the our home, so we did bury them out in the flower garden. We could not go get him and bring his body back in that plastic bag!! First time we have cremated one of ours. I'm sure when I go pick up his ashes Friday, I will feel the shock all over again!
Coffee, when we had to put my Springer Spaniel to sleep, she was about 45lbs., and my husband didn't want to have to bury her, so we got her cremated- 1st for me too, but the compromise was that we buried her ashes in the back yard overlooking the pool and got a little plastic headstone for her, so I can visit her anytime I want.
When you were discussing why you named him Bubby, I meant to tell you that Bubby/bubbie is Yiddish for grandmother, and that Bubbies pickles are the best in the world, and the next best thing to my mother's pickles. My Bubby in heaven will watch over yours...

I'm becoming more active as my neighborhood activist for crime watching. There was another break-in just a few days ago a couple blocks over from me, same M.O. as mine. This is something I can do something about! I'm about to go out door-door to get more people onto this neighbhood watch-type website called Nextdoor.com

(((Pages))) I am sorry you are having a down day. Hope you find some sunshine.

giggling...... do they really expect us to like that? You should have pointed your gun finger at him as you walked out, and said " boom, you lost the sale, toy-boy"

I know I can alway come here and find a shoulder. Thanks to all my sidebarians friends.

Niner, I remember our 25th anniversary. It seems so long ago. it's hard to think we've been married forty years last May.

That is a very good idea LinasK, In the old days it was called keeping an eye out on your neighborhood, You knew the coming and goings of who was to be in your neighborhood, and took note of any strangers around. I always go out on my front porch with a phone in hand and let them know I see them and now a days you can take a picture of them and their car and tag number, and they move on pretty fast. We're in a historical district and they have crime watch signs everywhere. And we do have the new folks coming in that want neighborhood met and greets ice cream social. Our new addition, Thad and Colette, (three block over and two down ) had one last week, and one neighbors husband lost the coin toss and had to go and report back.

Hi all!

:tears: for Jerold... RIP Little Boy :rose:

now... the doctor had NO answers for all my Huz' symptoms... So
Zuri when you get time after hugging Knox - can you read these off to your DH and "see" what he thinks??

*Joint/muscle pain - seems to migrate from one place on my body to another - every day something new - always lower back and hip pain though - (definitely not arthritis per doctor). Like whatever controls the muscular joint around the bone, it feels like it goes limp and all my support disappears. (it's not the joint itself, but the area around it that does the pain).
*headaches
*bad taste in mouth
*food tastes like crap
*nausea, vomiting in the mornings (me: no he's not pregnant! LOL!)
*more forgetful than normal - (me: I can vouch for that!!)
*tremors
*loss of appetite
*loss of sexual function
*general fatigue
*chills and sweats and shaking
*hip and knee joints prevent confident in walking (hips go out) (me: he did fall once on the balcony...)
*feel pretty much like **** all the time
*swollen feet and lower legs
*hair stopped growing
*labored breathing
*constipated
*sleeping too much (me: he takes a LOT of naps during the day)

and the blood test came back negative for Lyme's Disease.

So.... :waitasec: What does your Huz say?? and a BIG :tyou: in advance!!

Okay - off to read my e-book, as someone beat me to the library to get the actual book... :gaah: :D

See you all tomorrow - take care!! :grouphug:

:seeya:

BBM Don't know if you have found out what's wrong with your DH yet (as I'm on my page 10 of the Sidebar and I'm still catching up :sheesh: ) ,
but I did some research and found these articles on symptoms that are similar to Lyme's disease:

The Disease That Looks Like Lyme--But Isn't

"A newly identified disease spread by deer ticks may be among one of the new summer illnesses to be on the lookout for if you spend time outside in the Northeast and upper Midwest. The disease is referred to as Borriela miyamotoi.

However, many healthcare providers may not be familiar with or have experience treating patients with this newly identified spirochete.
First discovered and isolated by Japanese scientists in 1995, Borriela miyamotoi was detected in the common deer tick (Ixodes scapularis) in Connecticut in 2001, and has now been noted in all areas of the US where Lyme disease is endemic...

Healthcare providers may potentially miss this diagnosis unless they are aware of it– at least in the early stages, because they are not familiar with it...

According to Mr. Wright, “this new tick borne illness further complicates the diagnosis given its slow response to conventional antibiotic treatment”, ultimately placing physicians at higher risk of a delayed diagnosis or failure to diagnose.."

http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertglatter/2013/07/12/the-disease-that-looks-like-lyme-but-isnt/
---------------

There’s a New Disease Spread by Ticks, and it’s Not Lyme

"...So how is the new infection diagnosed? B. miyamotoi is five to 10 times less common than Lyme, but its symptoms are very similar, and there is no test to detect the bug before symptoms start. Once the infection starts, however, fevers caused by B. miyamotoi infection can relapse after resolving, something that doesn’t typically happen in cases of Lyme disease. For now, if a patient complains of fever, muscle pain and headaches and doesn’t respond to doxycycline antibiotics after 24 hours, doctors should order a blood smear test to look for the organism. Technicians can look for the bacteria under a microscope. There are more advanced DNA-based and antibody tests for the bacteria, but only three labs in the U.S. have the capability of performing these analyses. As more cases of non-Lyme diseases caused by tick-carried bacteria grows, however, Krause expects more doctors and labs to recognize and test for the various strains..."

Ok. Has anyone ever told any of you that you have a "resting bwitch face"? I heard this being discussed on several daytime TV show like "Kelly and Michael" and Hoda on Today. Or do you think you have one?

I definitely do. Most of the time I am smiling, but when I am thinking hard or focused, I get this look and I have had people ask me what was wrong. I know I am intense and not the most relaxed person, but is Botox the answer as one of the panel members on "The Doctors" recommends?

BBM What the heck is a "resting bwitch face"????

:floorlaugh:

Is that something like a "disgusted millionaire's face" (my father's favorite saying :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:)

Botox? Would that be necessary? No one needs to smile all the time (and looking like a :jester: , IMO).

I know. It has been quite a long time since I have logged on. Many things going on. Super busy a work, a mind that is racing in every direction imaginable and some life changes soon to take place. I hope you all have been well and had a nice summer.
I felt compelled to come here to share a very important experience with all of you. One that I hope you or your loved ones ever have to experience.
In the recent years mass shootings have been reported once a week compared to once a month a few years ago. The owners of our work place decided to give us training on active shootings in the work place.
The previous week before the training we as a department had some discussions about this event that took place yesterday. We joked a little although it is not a funny subject. Created some scenarios on what to do if this should ever happened. Discussed the fact our building is pretty secure and our department the safest. No one can enter or leave without a security card except our department employees and the owners. All others have to be buzzed in.
The morning started with the company listening to a 911 call of an active shooter event that took place in our state in 2010. Killed at least 6 people and injured others. Let me tell you that tape was very unsettling. The particular caller, although he was shot remained calm, described the shooter and told the dispatcher that he knew of 2 who had been shot and appeared to be deceased. It also was bring your kid to work day and his son was with him. Another 911 call came from a women who locked herself in a dark room and locked the door. The fear and desperation in her voice was terrible. I started to feel like I was going to have an anxiety attack and would have to leave. I forced myself out of that state of mind knowing I needed to listen to every word not only for my self but for my co-workers. You must remain calm or you could be a dead duck if the situation arises.
One very interesting and very important thing I learned was the first responders are not the police. It is you. You must remain calm, be aware of your surroundings try to get out. If you make the 911 call describe everything you see, any sounds, tell them where you are in the building and listen to and follow all instructions. Three things:you fight, you run or you freeze. Freezing being deadly. You go on the offense not the defense. If you decide to try and fight with a weapon, and we were taught anything can become a weapon, you make sure you use it until the shooter is not moving or dead.
It takes 6 minutes or more for the police to arrive and most of the damage is done by then. The shooter has a plan, has a motive in their own mind, may have a specific person in mind and will shoot anyone to get to them. They know they will end up dead themselves either by suicide or law enforcement.
When the police arrive they are not looking to save the victims that are down, they are looking to get that shooter before they tend to the wounded.
After we listened to the calls and watched a reenactment. We had 15 minutes to go back to our departments before we had our own reenactment. Our department, the department who thought was safe died, except for one. We thought we would hear the shots fired and we did have a plan. We never heard the shots.
we only saw that secured door opening. A lessened learned. It took the shooter (who had a paintball gun shooting air) 4 minutes to set up his firearm enter the building and do the damage. 4 minutes.
This was the first of our active shooter training. With each session the scenario will become more intense. It wasn't real but it was frightening none the less.
I think this should be a program presented to all schools, workplaces. It certainly was a topic of conversation over the weekend that we brought to our family and friends and I bring it to you.
Be aware of your surroundings in public places. Look for entrances, exits, fire extinguishers even around the waists of people where they may be caring a firearm. Just be aware.
In the meantime, live your normal lives. It is just a shame it has come down to this.
