Lots of familiar names in this verdict that was just overturned.
Perry, Ashton, Linda ... For those that followed the Anthony case.. don't know where else to post it these days.

Interesting . I will be interested in how it turns out, either by a new trial or what the Supreme Court has to say:

Orange-Osceola State Attorney Jeff Ashton said he wants the Florida Attorney General to seek a review of the case by the Florida Supreme Court.

ETA: I found the thread where his case was discussed here on WS. I added your info to it, ATL.

Well my experience with Windows 10 was short-lived LOL. Switched back to 7 this am. 10 ran slower than 7 for me, found I was switching back to 7 every time I got on the laptop, programs were messing up left and right, I liked what Niner's DH said; "if it ain't broke, why fix it"! I'm happier my 7 is back and I know what I am doing and can get where I'm going without a lot of hassle. Good Bye 10! :)

When this one stops working, I will go to Mac.

GOOD MORNING!!

GOOD MORNING!!

I see everybody is testing out windows 10. Is it a free upgrade?

I have 8.1 and I can't imagine upgrading again as I went through so much when I changed to that.

JINGLES to all whose furbabies aren't feeling well!!

WOW - daisymae = did you see Serena vs Bencic last night??!! Can't believe Serena lost.

Well - off to see what's happening around here!

Well, we thought she was doing better, but unfortunately she's been throwing up and had excessive foamy saliva this evening... and of course on a Sat. night, when the only option is the Emergency Vet. Hopefully she's over the worst of it. Will discontinue tonight's dose of meds and call somebody tomorrow. I texted my friend, but she didn't respond.
DH was a jerk most of the day, and we didn't work on the Den, but he's been more compassionate since the dog got sick.
She threw up blood so we had to go to the ER Vet. They hospitalized her and she has to stay 'till tomorrow. It was the Rimadyl. It's like Advil. Gave her Gastritis and maybe Pancreatitis.😟

Linas, I am sending Jingles your way as all the Jingles sent up for my horse sure did help. You are so right in that we do what we need to do for our beloved animals, regardless of cost. I am so glad she is better and I hope she is not in too much pain still. It sounds as though you have a busy weekend with lots going on!

Please keep us apprised of her condition and how you are doing too.

HI to Zuri and all I haven't been in much as this site is trouble for me!! Mainly sidebar! Sometimes I cant get in

Oh, LinusK, I am just now reading up on what you've been through. What a rough time of it you've had! Sending positive vibes your dog's way.

I also read Bernina's comments pondering why these things seem to be happening more often, and from the various things she postulated, I'd say the proliferation of prescription drugs is likely the common denominator. The same with people as with our pets.

Big Pharma lobbyists are far too influential, and the FDA doesn't vet things very well at all. They rely upon the drug companies' (skewed) research rather than doing rigorous testing of their own. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there weren't instances of graft occurring on a regular basis.

Remember when drugs were first being advertised on television? I think most of us were surprised...then intrigued...then felt somewhat empowered, and embraced the idea that we knew enough to suggest to our Drs what drugs would they should prescribe to us. What a diabolical yet successful marketing campaign that has turned out to be!

Now, so many people have numerous prescriptions on an ongoing basis. I seriously doubt their efficacy
or long-term safety (most drugs are pushed through very quickly; long-term effects are unknown).

I don't often engage in conspiracy theories, but I feel certain about this. Caveat Emptor.

Okay, rant over.

LinusK, I wish your sweet dog a speedy recovery, and commend you on being on top of things and not continuing to give those harmful drugs to her.

Niner ... of course I watched Serena last night.
She almost recovered but she looked so tired and worn out. I think she needs to rest! Kind of weird an 18 year old teenager beat her! And Halep today was GREAT ... but she was too sick to finish. Gosh, I'll never clean up around here as long as I subscribe to the tennis channel!

Hope your 4 legged child feels better real soon - and yours, too, Linas. Did I miss anyone else?

Nore, if you have to give yours medication, put it in a small piece of cheese, meat, etc. and they'll gobble it down. :loveyou:

The nightmare isn't over, but trying to remain optimistic. It'll probably cost us $3,000 by the time it's all over- like Pages, they charged us $100 just for walking in the door, but we had no other choice at 11:30 p.m. on a Sat. night. Isn't that always when rotten things happen? It comes at a time when we can ill afford it financially, not like there is a good time, but this is worse. My car needed a new transmission in April, and now we are paying for a trip for my daughter next spring, and there are other expenses. I might be able to get on permanently at Kohl's part-time and earlier than Halloween...
Meanwhile we will go visit my doggie in about an hour and talk to both vets and see what they say. Hopefully, it's just that the gastritis from the medicine (apparently Rimadyl is bad for some Labbies) screwed up her lab values and not that she has Pancreatitis, because that's really bad news. On the plus side the vet said this morning that she had stopped vomiting, foaming, and the diarrhea. And DD did manage to pull off good singing performances both days in spite of being exhausted and everything. Oh, and DH is getting a little bit of work done on the Den.

She spit out the bread and cheese that I tried, so I used Peanut Butter, but it wasn't enough in her system. There was no warning label on it, but she was refusing to eat her dry food for breakfast, so apparently the one dose was enough to do her in. It's a good thing she didn't throw up during the couple hours we were gone. She will eat her heartworm pill by itself, but I think it's beef flavored.

How is it acceptable that the treatment results in further problems that cause a need for further treatment? I have such a hard time with how the bills add up (for the pet owner) but culpability is shirked by the medical professionals. WTH?!

1977 - Elvis Presley dies at the age of 42, leaving rock and roll fans worldwide mourning his loss. Elvis was found dead at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. The cause of death is pronounced as cardiac arrhythmia which is a form of heart attack.

Oh no, Linas! What a terrible cost. When we had a vet bill that was beyond our means at the time, we used something called Care Credit. The vet's office helped set it up, I think. Then we could make payments over several months (without interest if paid in that time span). It might be worth looking into whether you have that available.
http://www.carecredit.com/practices/veterinary/ I think it can be used for other things, too .... like dental work.

ETA: here are the financing options you can get (up to 24 months with no interest: http://www.carecredit.com/howcarecreditworks/financing-options/

and this one gives you an idea of what types of places they cover:

Hopefully, the financial issue will work out all right for you. Glad you got a little of the den done.... that is a happy thing. Fingers crossed for your job at Kohl's to come through early.

Hope your dog is doing well and comes home soon!

Couldn't have said it better!!!!!

It's even more alarming that drug testing is outsourced to India, where many of the participants are involved in several drug trials at the same time...........

Take this drug for this ailment, take another drug or 3 for the side effects, it's a vicious cycle.

Want to post this for anyone on antidepressants or antipsychotics: STEVIA, yes that natural sugar substitute? Well, don't use it if you're on those type of meds. It has negative interactions with those drugs and basically negates any positive effects.

My lil' bro just researched this, being on Lexapro and Xanax. Couldn't figure out why he was "wonky". Stopped the Stevia and was back to his old self. If he hadn't looked up the interactions, his Dr. would have upped his dosages.

I can vouch for Care Credit, it's a Godsend! We only use it for vet emergencies. Our vet has always offered to make payment plans through their office, but it's good to know that his payment is taken care of immediately. He has his financial responsibilities too.

LinasK, see if you can go back to your regular vet and the cost should be much cheaper. They should be able to do like the vet er is and follow up care. We could of gone back to our regular vet but his practice has changed and not sure about the care other than shots and minor things. The ER did show us a payment plan but I shocked dh when I told the vet to go ahead with what ever needed that first night and that I had a thousand bucks. I did that twice and I told him he needed to pay me back because that was my part of an allowance we both get when he gets paid and I save mine up. Other wise we would of been stretching it because we just replaced our heating and ac and hot water heater and DR. bills for dh kidney stones.
