Hi Nore! I hope you are having better luck at posting! Miss you!

Tomorrow will be decision day regarding hospitalization. I spent 33 years working in various hospitals and my standards Re really high as far as health care. Last time I had to teach the nurse how to give Lovenox properly and the difference between a viral culture and and a bacterial culture. I am too old and ornery to do it again.oh yeah, and I am one of those patients that calls the nurse's station when my call bell goes unanswered for 10 minutes and I actually need help ;)

Zuri! I hope you don't need to be an inpatient, but if you are that bad you better go. No excuses to dawdle. This can be very serious, as you well know. Don't leave us worrying over you, or you may end up with a houseful of WS guests long before your house is spick and span! Sure hope you can get this under control and breathe easier very soon.

Bernina, your Evie's new job sounds too good to be true. I know you will miss her and the stallion, but what an ideal place to be able to work, yes?

Sure hope Kissy has a healthy delivery. Wow, I cannot believe the time flew by already and we will be aunties again.

Hi Zuri , PLEASE take care . Your house will wait...I have it with lungs too it's no fun. Dont miss a treatment , they work wonders. I take them 3 times a day and my lungs are in good shape thanks to m y Doctor. You need plenty of rest. I know you are Med. professional but they don't listen the worst to follow orders. :laughcry: :bed:

Nore, doctors and nurses are definitely the worst patients ever. Especially nurses. And that would include me. I have little patience with ineptitude. Wayyy back in 1988, I was a fresh post op lumbar spinal fusion. I asked for pain medicine which the nurse gave me and it dropped my BP to 60/30. She proceeded to put the bed in trendelenburg which is the head down and feet up. I am like NO NO NO! Turn the IV up. You don't put a fresh post op in trendelenburg. It was a response to the narcotic, nothing more.

She never came back in my room lol.

Oh thank you my darling GGG. If my house was in any shape to have someone come in and clean it, I would. Right now it is a a hazardous waste site and someone could fall! And yes, I have my N95 masks and gloves and it still got me. It doesn't seem to bother anyone else, but then my lungs, immune system etc are way compromised. I will be sure to pull through. I have 25 cleaning products I have to use up.

BBM

I'm concerned that those "cleaning products" are part of the problem, on top of the dust, etc.

I'm fairly certain a quick CraigsList search will show many people in your area would be willing to do that work for relatively little money. They will be happy for the work, and it will be money well-spent.

Even though you were burned by that roofer guy, this is a more cut-and-dried thing. You can arrange to have a person (or team of people) come over and do all the things you can't/shouldn't do. Agree upon a price before-hand, then just stay in bed and let them do their thing. If possible, arrange for your husband to be there to let them in, so you only have to go down and inspect their work before rendering payment. You should also ask that they open all the windows when they're done to allow the fumes from those cleaning products to dissipate before you go downstairs. (This time of year makes that ideal. Perfect weather right now!)

The last thing we want is for you to wind up in hospital, so please, be open to solutions that will obviate that happening. You've got all of us rooting for you! :)

snipped for space

• As to your husband as a driver, you must be a saint! I hate driving and appreciate when someone else takes the wheel, but OMG! Very funny, though!

• Would love more elaboration regarding your dad and the Kennedy assassination, if you'd be comfortable sharing. What did he do to make it into the newspapers?

• Last thing: Yeah, the cost of living is incredibly high here, so even $65,000 straight out of school barely gets you a one bedroom, probably less than 800 SF, which would probably cost about $2100/mo, though if you're lucky, that might include some utilities. But again, those who get jobs here are very ambitious and aggressive young people. Yeah, those same people who won't give up their seats on the metro. :(

We'll he is a lot of fun, and he minds generally. He'll keep our trip interesting to say the least. If Hatfield won't boldly drive us into strange countries, dh will and and we'll end up in amazing places. And no I don't mean jail ... although that could happen lol.

The rent on our first house rent was $110.00 a month, and we paid the utilities, and they were cheap. It was 960 square feet, but we had a nice size living room, and good size dining room that dh kept his aquariums in there. I grew things on top of our freezer under florescent lights, the kitchen was a good size. I had a washer and dryer in there. The bathroom was long with floor to ceiling cabinets and a built in dresser with drawers and huge mirror. We had two small bedrooms and lots of closets. It was on a private dirt road with thirteen other houses in the city, and again more room than we needed at the time.

We would buy the house in 1980 for 29,000. Well,we bought three houses on the street and joked about becoming slums lords. We moved dh mother and grandmother into the one across the street from us in 1976 and after a falling out over giving Anna a sip of beer (eight months old) she didn't speak to me for five years. My sister moved into the one next to us to be close to family, when her husband was laid off and his new job was in Minnesota, and he flew home on the weekends. My brother bought a house on the corner and all our kids grew up together. My sister and I both would love to live back down there again. Almost everyone in my family lived in our house except my mother. When we bought our present house in 1983 ($75,000 at 11% interest and that was a bargain. It would go up to 13% later on. The people we bought it from had bought it in 1973 for $23,0000. A $50.000 profit.) my sister moved into our house and in 1989 after she moved we moved my father into it after he had a stroke, and my other sister moved there when she came home one day and everything she had had been stolen from her apartment so she helped take care of him. I'd made a promise when I was quite young that I'd take care of him when he was old, and reminded my of my promise. Hell I was three years old at the time. I would watch him die. The first person I've even seen die. Another story for another time.

Anyway, this time of the year brings back a whole lot of memories, and there were few happy ones.

Well, yes, please do share if you are willing. Personal histories are so very interesting! But I'm not by any means asking you to dredge up painful memories. I'll leave it up to you how much you want to reveal here.

Also, what happened with your father regarding the Kennedy assassination??? The video you posted leaves more questions than answers. Was he the mayor? The police chief? The spitter? Sounds like you/he had a front row seat on very real slice of American history. (If it's too private, or if your answer would be too revealing, never mind :))

ETA: Your husband sounds like my kind of guy. Never a dull moment!? And you seem like a very tolerant spouse. Still looking for Hatfield to chime in here. Doesn't he know we're all counting on him? hahaha!

Did you read the article? And see the photos? The Treason Flyer? I saw those about two in the morning when a man brought them to our house before Kennedy came to Dallas later that day. They were handed out from the parade at Love Field through Dallas and downtown where Kennedy was shot. My father also worked at Love Field. There is a strange connection from there and my life when we lived on our private road in 1978.

Sorry, but the link to the New Republic article says "page not found." But I guess I'm beginning to get the drift. Still, the "Treason Flyer" sounds interesting. Is that considered common knowledge? First I've ever heard of it...

Okay, just found this:

Can you elaborate? No worries if you don't feel comfortable doing so. Just very interested and curious. :)

Yes, that one works. Thanks! Very interesting, indeed. Since you were very young at the time, I can certainly see how that would be a bit traumatizing.

Perhaps it's just me, but don't you find it somewhat interesting/troubling that that kind of xenophobia still exists all these years later (albeit in different forms)? Why haven't we progressed further by this point?

Also, I was appalled at the treatment of Adlai Stevenson, whom I think (politics aside) was an honorable person and a good statesman. Their treatment of him was embarrassing, even ugly.

On a lighter note, one of my favorite actors, James Garner, met his one and only wife at an Adlai Stevenson rally. Here's an account of of their meeting from his 2014 obituary:

Garner, who died Sunday of natural causes at the age of 86, met Lois Fleishman Clarke at an “Adlai Stevenson for President” rally in 1956. They were married 14 days later on August 17, 1956, and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in August.

“I met my wife and married her in two weeks. We went out every night for about 13 nights and then got married on the 14th,” said Garner in a 2005 People magazine interview. “I was just absolutely nuts about her. I spent $77 on our honeymoon, and it about broke me. We’re still at it. After 48 years we think that it’s going to work.”

Pretty cool story... :)

You made me smile as I am in the same boat that is rapidly sinking. Ice is your friend and the Biofreeze or anything with Camphor. Do you have a brace that can help stabilize your SI joints? And don't forget the pillow under your knees. It sounds as though the Aleve and Motrin aren't working too well, so it may be time for a visit to your MD or chiropractor? I will be there as soon as I can find my front door.
:floorlaugh:

Just briefly catching up. For all my attempts at cleaning, I have viral pneumonia that has taken out my whole right lung and my lower left base. I can't breathe at all. I think it was from all the mold, dirt, dust, dog hair, and all the incredible crud that has been hidden in areas I haven't ventured. Our furnace blew two years ago and left serious layers of dirt that no one in my home has thought to wipe up. We are not ghetto, but we sure look it.

So I am now on breathing treatments every four hours and my pulse ox has gone from 73% to 92 % on 4 liters of oxygen. The Z pack was started today and my Prednisone was increased to 120 mg a day. This is déjà vu from my Swine Flu 6 years ago that kept me hospitalized for over 2 weeks. My DH actually stayed home today to oversee my care as I didn't want to go to the hospital if I can manage it here. Plus he cleaned a lot. :) I just can't breathe, talk, eat or go down the stairs and there is so much work to be done. Oh well. Dmacky and I will just have to endure a couple of rough spots. Fortunately this is not Swine Flu and hopefully things will be better in a week. Gah! I hate delays when I am on a roll. Dang dirt and mold.
On the up side, before all this went down, I was able to bag up quite a bit for the Purple Heart Veterans to come and pick up. I am going to use vinegar, Epsom salts, cream of tarter, hydrogen peroxide, dawn and deodorant on every surface possible as long as CJ keeps feeding me tips. My son's items are packed and ready to be shipped tomorrow by my DH to FL.
I am really looking forward to having you all over once this is all put together. 2016? LOL. I will send the party bus for you all! Xoxo

BBM # 1
Holy Moly Zuri maybe you should JUST tell us what you CAN do! I can't imagine not being able to breathe. And you've got to force yourself to eat somehow, girlfriend. What about drinking Ensure or Boost? I know they're delicious (NOT) but you need nutrition to help you get better. I would hate to hear you had to be hospitalized again.

BBM # 2
Sounds like a plan Zuri! Then I will have everyone over my when I am finished putting things back together at my house...I'll say around 2017-2018. I will hook my little red wagon on my BIG WHEEL and come and pick everybody up

You have said before that the Derby (or was it the little ladies/fillies at the Kentucky Oaks?) and the Barnstable Brown party are on your bucket list.
Now that I know you and I BOTH are limited as to what we can and cannot do anymore due to our spinal surgeries, you are more than welcome to stay at my house. I live only 20-25 minutes away from both. Please take care of yourself Zuri!!

OMG ~
So much going on in here!! I have missed my SB buddies :heartbeat:

Coffeej and Spell ~ YES please, come to my house! Be sure to bring enough clothes to last until forever, because once you gals get here...you have to promise to stay!
cj, you will be the designated cook. I have seen all the delicious things you've posted, and I want them all!!!!

I hate to cook. HATE IT

You gals can organize, cook, and take care of me  and be the mama I never had! I would love for somebody to take care of me for once in my life.
And CJ~ Bring that precious baby Squeak! There is nothing in the world that smells better to me than puppy breath

YoN and Niner ~ Thank you also for the hugs and well wishes. I do have pain pills, but they only take the edge off. I find that if I take a Ibuprofen with my pain pill, it works much better. I guess because it helps with the inflammation? :dunno: it just seems to help a lot better with both.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs one

Zuri ~ You take care of yourself...you hear me!! I'm having some issues myself with 'breathing' due the BIG weather change we had! Pollen count is so high...I also have the super-duper mask and wear hepa filter nose plugs, still doesn't keep all the junk out!

Dmacky LOL when you want us? Squeak goes where I go and you will fall in love with him...what a BIG personality this tiny little dog has! He's a winner for sure....

Goooood Morning from

Interesting night here...We put him in the bathtub for safety through the night...added his toys, water, his bed. He whined and cried for a bit and then settled down. Well low and behold around 1am my DH was waking me and had a tiny little ball of fur in his arms. That little '$hit' had managed to get out of the tub and make a streak to our bedroom!! Now how he managed this...who knows!! He was ready for play time. We were up with him for a few hours playing. Hubby went front bedroom and slept and Squeak snuggled down with me and fell asleep.

Now you tell me how a less than '3lb-3in-tall-4in-long' puppy got out of a slick bathtub??!! LOL LOL

Star is her mustang mare, lol!
Zubaz is my boy since birth, Star and Zubaz should have just what Evey wants in a baby. Zubaz is old, old Polish Arab, which is on the small end of Arabs. He doesn't have all the "modifications" that came about genetically in the last 80 years or so, although it could have pooped up randomly. Polish Arabs aren't what was added to Thoroughbred horses way back, the Darley, Byerley Turk and Godolphin studs were used and have Middle Eastern roots, I imagine they were considered Egyptian or Asil Arabians. 95% of Thoroughbreds can be traced back to the Darley Arabian through the "Y" chromosome, the one that determines male or female. They were at the tall end of Arab stallions in height, 15-16 hands. Arab studs are smaller than the mares.

Polish Arabs were used to develop Quarter horses, along with several Godolphin progeny. Quarter horse people won't admit it though, lol!

Star has obvious "Paso" in her, she has that "paddle" type gait and thick neck. Zubaz will probably pass on his flying lead changes and a propensity to being gaited, traits he got from his sire, and has passed down to many of his foals. Color is going to be a surprise: Star's only foal was from an unknown stallion from the herd she was taken from. The filly was a buckskin. Star has a white spot on her belly which some Mustangers believe is a Paint gene.
It'll be interesting, specially with this roan Zuri making the concept of only "bay, sorrel and gray" the only colors Zubaz has thrown out of solid color mares.

This 2nd foal out of Kissy and Zubaz is going to be a surprise too. 2 of my mares, Lady threw all 3 colors, Sheba threw 2 of them. The draft horse, Patty, threw black to gray foals. 2 other mares I didn't own threw sorrel and bay.

Genetics are a concept I don't get into much.........there's always some weirdness that happens that blows the formulations out of the water.

Good Morning Sidebar Friends!
:loveyou:

Just wanted to pop in and send y'all love and HUGS!

I have been experimenting with gourmet coffees. Not having much luck. Too bitter, too weak, too strong. So far nothing replaces my CFON, "the heavenly coffee, better coffee a millionaire's money can't buy" I end up combining the rejected expensive coffees with my CFON, making a "house blend". I was in Jamaica a couple of weeks ago (yes it is HOT and HUMID there in summer) and had an opportunity to buy a bunch of Green Mountain coffee, but was traveling with just a carry-on and didn't have room to pack it. Coffee connoisseurs: should I be regretting not buying some Green Mountain?

Currently hooked on the Teresa Sievers murder case in Bonita Springs, FL. I've seen one or two familiar "faces" over on that forum.

Hot here in the high desert with daytime temps still in 90's.

HUGS to all.
Chelly
