It is quiet here today. Bet some of you are getting into other trials. I tried the Siever case, but there are so many threads I couldn't follow along! Cooper Harris is another I am interested in. Still preoccupied with our two local girls, Julia Miswender and Chelsea Bruck cases here.

Bernina, congrats to your brother. A nice looking piece that can be used with digital images might be nice to have. And it looks good! Any idea when it may be available ... and it probably will cost way more than I can justify.

Good Afternoon everyone!

Coming here late, as I had errands to run before I leave this Friday for my brother's memorial down south! :tears: This time I won't be taking my laptop, as only will be gone until Sunday; it's a 5 plus hour drive, and the memorial is on Saturday. Sister, her Huz, and my brother will be driving down Friday also; we'll see if his GF will need some help. Of course she hasn't answered ANY of my six messages I've left for her.... but does call my other sister, which she did yesterday. :gaah: Oh well - hopefully, I can be "nice" to her when the time comes...

Might have to go out again tomorrow, as I have NOTHING to wear!!!??!! Will try some of my old pants to see if any of them fit, if not, off to shopping! I hate shopping!! :gaah:

Well - off to see what's happening around WS! Oh, I too am following the Dr. Sierver case, Chelly!

And Bernina - congrats to your brother - that looks kind of neat!!

Oh - it RAINED here last night and early this morning!! :happydance: nice day today - only about 70!! Love it!!

Later folks! :seeya:

Goooood Morning from

Interesting night here...We put him in the bathtub for safety through the night...added his toys, water, his bed. He whined and cried for a bit and then settled down. Well low and behold around 1am my DH was waking me and had a tiny little ball of fur in his arms. That little '$hit' had managed to get out of the tub and make a streak to our bedroom!! Now how he managed this...who knows!! He was ready for play time. We were up with him for a few hours playing. Hubby went front bedroom and slept and Squeak snuggled down with me and fell asleep.

Now you tell me how a less than '3lb-3in-tall-4in-long' puppy got out of a slick bathtub??!! LOL LOL

:floorlaugh: Oh my goodness cj! That is hilarious. I don't have a clue how he got out, but where there's a will there's a way! He certainly knew where to find you, didn't he?
I'd be afraid I'd step on him in the middle of the night like that. Good thing your hubby has good ears! Squeak is absolutely adorable, that's for sure.

I still am not ready for a furbaby yet. I still cry every day for Macky. I think because we were ALWAYS together for 8 years. Just me and her for the last 4, and this house is so lonely now since my kids have grown up. I absolutely dread this winter alone in this big arse house

Video from the flash flooding up in Colorado City, that sits on the border of Arizona and Utah. This is where the FLDS church is headquartered if any of you were following the several trials that their leader had in Arizona (charges were dropped because Utah said they would prosecute to the fullest.....NOT), Utah, and Texas.

12 now dead in Mohave County flash flooding

Twelve people are dead and one remains missing after two vehicles -- a full-size van and an SUV -- were swept away by flash flooding in Colorado City in Mohave County on Monday.

There were 16 women and children in the vehicles. Three of them were rescued. The body of the ninth victim, a child, was found late Tuesday morning about 5 miles downstream from the area where the vehicles were swept up by floodwaters.Sgt. Brock Bentley of the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Utah confirmed Tuesday that three additional bodies have since been found. One person remains missing in the floodwaters, while three children survived.

Colorado City is located on the Arizona-Utah border, about 6.5 hours north of Phoenix. Hildale, Colorado City's twin city, is on the Utah side of the border. The cities are the home base of a polygamous sect run by Warren Jeffs.

This is what our "gully washers" look like...just a wall of water hitting dry wash beds. We've had quite a few in the last week, rains up on the Mesa coming into the valley below us, averaging about 3-4 feet of water in height. Most of the homes that were near the "100 year flood plane" were destroyed in the flooding back in spring of 2004, the usually dry wash stretched over a mile wide between us and the black top of Hwy 89, during the 6 weeks it was flowing full tilt. National Guard was bringing in food, medicine, and animal feed, by helicopter and plane, for one area that got landlocked by the flooding. They were lucky because there was a private airfield that can be used as an FFA emergency landing strip for planes up to the size of 747's.
We had an alternate route to get out.

Do you know her address? Or the hospital she's in? Would you be okay with sharing that info in a PM (or several PMs)? I would so love for us to be able to flood her with cards and flowers.

She is such a kind, generous and giving person. Wouldn't it make her feel so much better if she knew her WS family was rallying around her! I know our messages of support would boost her spirits and help her get well sooner. She's our wonderful Zuri, and right now, she deserves all the help that we can give her.

Please respond as you're able, yes/no...

ETA:

Just to make things easier for you, should you be okay with PMs, here is a list of most of the people who regularly post here (please forgive me if I have left anyone out):

atthelate, Bernina, coffeejunkie, Dmacky, GigiG, Hatfield, ILikeToBendPages, Jasper52, LinusK, neesaki, Niner, Nore, Spellbound, Susza, zoey

Also, I'm sure she'd like to hear from katiecoolady, so if any has a PM contact with her, please send a message.

Yes, that one works. Thanks! Very interesting, indeed. Since you were very young at the time, I can certainly see how that would be a bit traumatizing.

Perhaps it's just me, but don't you find it somewhat interesting/troubling that that kind of xenophobia still exists all these years later (albeit in different forms)? Why haven't we progressed further by this point?

Also, I was appalled at the treatment of Adlai Stevenson, whom I think (politics aside) was an honorable person and a good statesman. Their treatment of him was embarrassing, even ugly.

On a lighter note, one of my favorite actors, James Garner, met his one and only wife at an Adlai Stevenson rally. Here's an account of of their meeting from his 2014 obituary:

Garner, who died Sunday of natural causes at the age of 86, met Lois Fleishman Clarke at an “Adlai Stevenson for President” rally in 1956. They were married 14 days later on August 17, 1956, and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in August.

“I met my wife and married her in two weeks. We went out every night for about 13 nights and then got married on the 14th,” said Garner in a 2005 People magazine interview. “I was just absolutely nuts about her. I spent $77 on our honeymoon, and it about broke me. We’re still at it. After 48 years we think that it’s going to work.”

Pretty cool story... :)

I'm from Norman Oklahoma. My parents went to school with James Garner. My father called him a homosexual, but my father had many phobias. His hate wasn't reserved just for them.

Hate GigiG. Pure hatred. I was nine years old when we started to become indoctrinated, which failed miserably. I became aware of it during my horse rustling days. I wanted to go back to Norman and my grandma Cora who's always taken care of me. Isn't life strange at times? The coincidences and happenstances? When we lived there, in Richardson, we had a lady move into a garage apartment down the street from us. Her name was Juanita Slusher.

Well, I do feel sorry for your father. What must exist in a person to have such anger towards one's fellow man? Hatred is really just a poison that kills from within. So glad that you didn't inherit those genes. We know all too well how sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You, on the other hand, have clearly shown that you are above such small-minded thinking.

I remember when Lily was going through her ordeal, and you pointed out that she was bi-racial (am I remembering that right?). So clearly, you didn't fall into the xenophobia that your father not only embraced, but was on a mission about. Hats off to you for being the bigger person, and raising your kids to be open and accepting of others. :)

Norman, OK. I need to make a pilgrimage there one of these days. James Garner was my idea of the perfect man (def not a 🤬🤬🤬🤬, I do believe someone was being jealous there, IMO), and was quite proud of being an Okie/Sooner. If it weren't for him, I'd probably write Oklahoma off as being too far right wing, intolerant of "others" and way far behind the curve in terms of the trajectory of this country in 2015. JMO.

Zuri Update:

In touch with Zuri and shared all the previous comments that folks made since YESorNo posted above. She has asked me to paraphrase her response ....

She was very touched with the family here at the WS sidebar. She says she will be fine, and is too mean to die ( pfffft... she is the sweetest!) and says that the sidebar folks are the "loveliest group of people". ...

Although she asked me to paraphrase... I loved too much some of her words to share as mine ... so I won't paraphrase .. and follows...

" all the things and no cards, or flowers could ever show the true beauty in their hearts. That is enough right there to last me a life time. Love you. "

Prayers up for Zuri... Sweet dreams and we'll talk to you tomorrow xoxoxoxox

I'm sure she'll be back soon and tell the Paul Harvey "rest of the story" later.

Yes, Lily is bi racial. That is what makes her Lily. I like Ben Carson's viewpoint. That what he sees when he operates is the what makes them a person. Not color.

There is another photo of my father being held back by police. That is the one that was one the front page.
