Bernina, great last post, and I totally agree. Well said, IMO

With all the discord and disturbing issues going on in the country and abroad, why this person would get face time is beyond me. There are people who would LOVE to have that job, just to put their education and experience to work, because they are un-employed.
This person is sitting on her butt, in her closed office, refusing to sign documents, while getting payed.........sounds just like a "welfare QUEEN" to me, getting paid for doing nothing.

The end of segregation didn't mean you'd have African Americans in your living room playing Monopoly, women voting didn't mean the ballot booths were set up in your back yard, and gay marriage certainly doesn't mean gay couples are going to move in with you or carpool to work.
Maybe if this cretin actually KNEW a gay couple, was FRIENDS with a gay couple, she'd know there is NOTHING to fear. But I guess she's too busy marrying and divorcing her husbands and having children out of wedlock <-----what a hypocrite.

Can you tell I'm angry?

California is having terrible fires, animals were abandoned, floods in Arizona, the I-10 shooter is still out there, Syrian refugees are without shelter.............and the media wants to waste time on this ignorant, STOOPID woman, Mike "Dingleberry" Huckabee, and her husband (or is he her brother?) "Jim Bob" wearing the newest in "red neck" couture...........they should have had a combo news presser/greased pig/varmint hollering/possum cooking free for all.

Dahmn.........if she isn't the poster child of things to come if people with COMMON SENSE and EDUCATION don't stand up and say "Enough is ENOUGH."

And the so-called "Oath Keepers"? OFGS! Have they even READ the Constitution? Do they know what a LAW is? Or does "Bubba" just want to go out in public with his semi automatic and dress up in camo?

Is THIS what our fathers, mothers, sister, brothers, children in the military are fighting for? Laws and democracy that you can pick and choose as you please?

:gaah:

I'm going outside and hammer some nails..........sheesh.

Hi Bernina, you are right! "the person" should be offered a different position if refused , adz out the door..to do otherwise is mollycoddling ! doesn't float in Govt. I don't know if present problem can be fired..what a crock.:gaah:

  • #407
Wait I'll go with you.:furious:

Pounding nails is good therapy! I could it out it into words any better than our Bernina has done.
FWIW, lately I change the channel when any of these looney toons appear on my screen. :furious:

Something's just really chapping my hide...........
When does someone's religious views supersede their job description to uphold the laws of the land?
If someone at a fast food joint refused to serve a person because of their moral feelings about race, religion, disability, or sexual preference, they'd be fired.
Protection of freedom and rights for ALL people. Division of church and State.
The people who are claiming to be "oppressed" are actually the "oppressors".
I am so sick of it.
The United States is NOT a theocracy, it's a DEMOCRACY.
Nobody should be applauded for violating the Law of the Land.

This is flat out bigotry and NO ONE should accept it, support it, or tolerate it.
Are we supposed to allow "honor killings" to go un-prosecuted because someone's religious beliefs? Are we supposed to allow polygamy? How about wives as "property", subservience to their husbands? Child brides? How about a "caste" system?

If a person can't perform the duties of their job, ESPECIALLY those in the government sector, they should quit or be terminated.

:gaah:

Agreed!

Toby Keith is from there--either Norman or Moore, IIRC . We encountered several wonderful people when my sister's son played baseball there years ago.

Yes, he's from Moore. They named a section of Eastern for him. Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Chuck Norris, Dr. Phil, and Brad Pitt who was from Shawnee where my mother was born. Those are just a few famous Oklies.

Yes, Lily is bi racial. That is what makes her Lily. I like Ben Carson's viewpoint. That what he sees when he operates is the what makes them a person. Not color.

There is another photo of my father being held back by police. That is the one that was one the front page.

Did you find Candy Barr?

Since you've been to DC, I'm sure you noticed that there is a LOT of diversity here. Good people come in all shapes, sizes, religions and colors. So do bad people. When I meet someone, I don't have any preconceived ideas about them. After that, I go by what they say and do. Sometimes I decide they're not people I want to be around, but I think that's more about temperament and ethical behavior. All other things being equal, I say live and let live.

Yes! I did see the wikipedia page about Candy Barr. This is fascinating stuff, Pages. You should write a book about your memories from those days!

See, this is why we need Bernina on the bus. I have no doubt that she can do just about anything, and if anyone tries to harm us in anyway, we'l sic her on them. They'd look at a little bitty woman and laugh, then she'd just beat the crap out of them.

I always thought if you can't do the job and it's an affront to you then quit. You may be an elected offical, but you can quit on your own. We have become a society of "I want things my way"or else .

I totally agree with you, Bernina. I just can't wrap my brain around people who insist on being divisive, intolerant, and holier than thou. And the fact that so many of them want to use their religion as a cop-out. Your religion is your religion. My religion is mine. That shouldn't ever be a factor, especially in a civil servant job.

I have looked, but can't find any education credentials for her, but apparently she got the job from her mother, and her son (who also won't issue licenses to gays) got his job from her. Can you say NEPOTISM? There should be no place for that in our government. AND, she makes $80K/yr (tax-payer funded), which is more than twice the average pay for folks in her county. What's really hard to understand is that she (and her mother before her) are voted in by their constituents!!! What's wrong with those people?

I did appreciate this billboard, and the response by the group responsible for it:

Aaron Jackson, the president of Planting Peace, told The Huffington Post that the point of the billboard is to expose how those in favor of traditional values are selective in which biblical laws they choose to follow.

Cold/Flu Natural Remedy
Nature's Best to the Rescue!!

With Allergy and Flu season here, this natural remedy should bring some relief. Put 1 tablespoon of the syrup into a cup of hot water and sip. It helps soothe a sore throat and calm a cough. It will also help with relieving allergies and gives your immune system a good boost.

Lemons give you Vitamin C for your immune system, Coconut oil helps fight infection and reduce your symptoms, and honey helps to soothe the throat.

Mix together the following:
3 tablespoons lemon juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
1/4 cup Organic raw honey
2 tablespoons organic coconut oil
Put 1 tablespoon of mixture into a cup of hot water.
Stir together and slowly slip when you have allergies or flu-like symptoms.

You forgot the whiskey. After a few sips you don 't care how you feel.

My sister swears by Tiger Balm and Lucky Tiger ointment.

I totally agree with you GigiG. If only we could look past color and judge on actions. Maybe one day.

I feel sorry for Candy Barr. She reminds me of Marcia McKittrick, also from Texas who left home at fifteen and became a stripper in the dives of Dallas. She and her pimp/boyfriend Bobby Vandiver killed John Hill, who killed his wife Joan Roberson Hill. What goes wrong inside a child ,when sexully abused as a child? Why is that the waY to become? You never feel clean, and feel so old compared to other schoolmates . I guess that is why many drop out of school.

A book isn't going to happen . Our children and grandchildren have no knowledge of what all we went through. They knew him as a bigoted grandfather, but never knew the full story. What I did
tell felt like a huge weight was lifted. Thanks all for the shoulder. Maybe later on I can tell about the telegram my father received the morning Dr. King was killed.

Also Candy a Barr taught Joan Collins to dance for one of her movies, and made the first 🤬🤬🤬🤬 movie when she was fifteen years old, that set the stage for others. Duck face that Kim
Kardasian.

OH, I forgot Lulu Roman was also a go go dancer in Dallas. Another lost soul.

We just had another earthquake.

BBM: I have the same question.

I just LOVE that billboard!!!!! I kinda think her daughter might only be worth a dry cow, 2 old broiler hens, and a sack of rotten potatoes......no offense to Kentuckians, that State is gorgeous, and has some mighty fine horse flesh, haven't met any Okies and I'm in no way lumping them all into the same pot. (is "Okies" ok, or is it derogatory? Hey, I don't know anyone from Kentucky!!! Feel free to call me a "Zonie".)

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/co...vis-bid-to-delay-marriage-licenses/ar-AAelMVC

Davis has one more request for reprieve awaiting the appeals court. In it, her attorneys with the Christian law firm Liberty Counsel argue that Bunning's order to issue licenses should apply only to the four couples who sued her and not to any other same-sex couples who would like to get married.

At $80K a year, you KNOW she isn't paying her attorneys, someone else is....what a waste of money, how many children could be feed or vaccinated with that money?

Holy smokes!!!!!!!!!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Counsel

Liberty Counsel describes its practice as a First Amendment practice, focused on religious liberties, freedom of speech, church/state issues in public schools and in the public square. Liberty Counsel has been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

https://www.splcenter.org/fighting-.../2015/18-anti-gay-groups-and-their-propaganda

Liberty Counsel
Orlando, Fla.

Created in 1989, Liberty Counsel is affiliated with Liberty University Law School in Lynchburg, Va., a legacy of the late conservative icon Jerry Falwell. It was founded and is still chaired by Mathew (Mat) Staver, who also serves as director of the Liberty Center for Law and Policy at Liberty University, and provides legal assistance with regard to religious liberty, abortion and the family.

The organization may be best known for its campaigns to ensure that “public displays of religion” are maintained during the Christmas holiday, and it has adopted broad right-wing views, including the allegation that the Obama Administration has a “socialist liberal agenda.” But it also has focused heavily on anti-gay activism.

In 2009, J. Matt Barber, formerly with Concerned Women for America and Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (see above for both), joined Liberty Counsel as director of cultural affairs (also becoming Liberty University’s associate dean for career and professional development). A year earlier, Barber had argued that given “medical evidence about the dangers of homosexuality,” it should be considered “criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative.”

The Counsel also has been active in battling same-sex marriage, saying it would destroy the “bedrock of society.” In 2005, the group’s blog said: “People who … support the radical homosexual agenda will not rest until marriage has become completely devalued. Children will suffer most from this debauchery.” A 2007 blog posting said same-sex marriage would “severely impact future generations.”

Like other anti-gay groups, Liberty Counsel argues that hate crime laws are “actually ‘thought crimes’ laws that violate the right to freedom and of conscience” — an opinion rejected by the Supreme Court. In fact, the laws raise penalties for crimes already on the books — assault, murder and so on — that were motivated by hatred of people based on their sexual orientation. They do not, and could not under the Constitution, punish people for voicing opinions.

Since 2006, Liberty Counsel has also run its “Change is Possible” campaign with Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays to protect people who say they’ve changed from gay to straight from “discrimination” by “intolerant homosexuals.”

What a bunch of messed up puppies.

Wow, as you keep revealing more details, a bigger picture is emerging. I'm becoming more and more drawn in. This stuff is beyond bizarre! Have to keep in mind that it's from another place and time. Perspective.

I can understand that you might not want to share your thoughts and memories with your family right now, but please consider that you had a unique vantage point of the goings on in a critical point in time.

My MIL lost all of her immediate family during the Holocaust, and eventually, made it here with nothing but a prayer. Even though I'm not Jewish, I was so grateful that in her final years, she wrote her story in her own words. Oddly enough, my children really appreciate learning of all the awful details, not because they're pleasant to read, but because it gives them a sense of what she went through. If it hadn't been for her courage in the face of adversity, my kids wouldn't be here today. After reading her story, they get that.

Even if it's just your own private writings, I would gently encourage you to put pen to paper and give a full account of those fateful days as you recollect them. Just saying. The fact that Lily is biracial makes her a wonderful example of how, in some ways at least, we have progressed quite far since the '60s. At some future time, I think she will feel proud and honored to know that you took the high road and didn't follow in your father's path. JMO

ETA: Earthquake?
