Everyone needs a "break", no pun intended, Daisymae!

Is this the time of year for medical things or am I just loosing my marbles? Seems like it comes in waves.
You're probably going to have to get an MRI for that cuff, that's where the boyfriend is going to have his imaged here real soon before they take that bone spur out of his shoulder socket.

Those toe shoes, Vibram 5 fingers? It's a MIRACLE!!!!! I can feel my heel now, lol! Just wore them a few hours a day to get used to them (part of the instructions before starting a running program in them) and my heel isn't numb, could feel it after the first time I put those suckers on. I don't know if they lined something up, put pressure on something that was squished, or just stretched the tendons, but it's very cool! Today was day 3....... so just might hit the treadmill tonight......just might........

BBM - So it seems that these shoes are exactly what your heel needed. That's perfect, Bernina! What a great coincidence!
When you told us about having bought them I immediately googled the brand and model. I've tried some of this kind (but another brand) a couple of years ago and they didn't fit my feet. Grrrh, they are sooo expensive here. But I'll try them out and if they fit......I'll snitch-ähh-buy them ;)
So, did you already do some jogging? And: how do you find their look? Could I wear them when I go teaching???

Isn't it amazing that even the horses were brought to America?

Have you noticed how much we've learned about our world past and present in the last few weeks? It's been very enlightening and educational.

That is exactly why I love this thread! We are always learning and sharing and caring. I get so much from this one thread that I always at least read it several times a day, even if I don't have time to post. A wealth of info, and full of friends.

The he video posted about "what Niner's family lived through" made a big impact. Niner, you should somehow include it with your history for whoever may read it in the coming generations.

Someone let me know if you can see the pic I attached. thanks

Natural Shampoo for Dogs - Flea Removal

1 cup liquid dish soap (I used Dawn for sensitive skin)
1 cup white vinegar
1 quart warm water
Directions:

1 Mix the three ingredients in a large bowl and then transfer to a leftover squeeze bottle (like an old shampoo bottle). Give it a little shake to make sure it is mixed.
2 Apply to your doggy just as you would normal shampoo. It is best if you can massage it into the fur and let sit for 5 minutes.
3 Rinse your doggy thoroughly with warm water. Towel dry.

sinus infection is the most annoying and uncomfortable feeling. Unfortunately, sinus infections are very common; it affects around 37 million Americans a year. Sinus infections are an inflammation of the lining in the sinus cavities. Sinusitis can be caused by colds, flu, bacteria or allergies. Fortunately, you don’t have to over-medicate yourself with conventional drugs, there are many natural and effective remedies for a sinus infection.

How to Clear Your Sinuses with Your Tongue and Your Thumb in 20 Seconds

Push your tongue against the top of your mouth and place a finger between your eyebrows and apply pressure. Hold it for about 20 seconds and your sinuses will begin to drain.

According to Lisa DeStefano, D.O., an assistant professor at the Michigan State University college of osteopathic medicine, this causes the vomer bone, which runs through the nasal passages to the mouth, to rock back and forth, says The motion loosens congestion; after 20 seconds, you’ll feel your sinuses start to drain.

WARNING

DO NOT wash your hair in the shower!! It's so good to finally get a health warning that is useful!!! IT INVOLVES THE SHAMPOO WHEN IT RUNS
DOWN YOUR BODY WHEN YOU SHOWER WITH IT.
WARNING TO US ALL!!! Shampoo Warning! I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner! I use shampoo in the shower! When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning, "FOR EXTRA BODY AND VOLUME." No wonder I have been gaining weight! Well! I got rid of that shampoo and I am going to start showering with Dawn Dishwashing Soap. It's label reads, "DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE." Problem solved! If I don't answer the phone, I'll be in the shower! LOL

While I have wifi for a minute, I wanted to send my deepest love and appreciation to all of my out for your kind thoughts, prayers, JINGLES, love, compassion and some I may have missed. I truly have the most special group of wonderful friends on the face of the planet, right here. I don't have much energy and can't breathe, so forgive my lack of long windedness.
Still haven't figured out WTH has caused this pulmonary disaster, but getting great care. I haven't slept in days. Light at end of tunnel so maybe discharge sometime next week. Love to you and yours and please know how much each of you mean to me. I am a better person because my world has you in it. Xoxo

So, did you already do some jogging? And: how do you find their look? Could I wear them when I go teaching???

My lil' bro has worn them for several years, he does both treadmill and "terrain" running. He swears by them.
The trick is actually reading and following the instructions. Ease into them, get used to their feel just by wearing them around the house a few hours here and there, they DO use different muscles in your feet and below the knees.
I lunged the 2 off the horses yesterday and totally forgot I was wearing them.
Hit the treadmill last night, did 1 mile, 1/8 brisk walk, 1/8 mile run, fast, slow, fast, slow, and my legs are just a bit sore, bit not achy. Am going to slowly add additional 1/2 miles as my muscles acclimate.
I got these at a savings of 40-70% off on WOOT! Otherwise I would have just blown them off, they are expensive. They really fit like Isotoner gloves, lol!
Would I wear them out in public? No. For what you pay for them, I'd rather burn the tread off exercising than walking through parking lots and grocery stores.......and they DO look pretty funky! You could wear them teaching, but I'd limit it to an hour on, 2 hours off, that kind of thing till you got use to the feel.
And washing them? Just throw them in the washing machine, cold water, and air dry. I'm surprised at how well they are made.

Hi all ! Still behind here but maybe today :shame:

I sometimes wonder if these people have a death wish, though there have been two 13 y/o's and an 80 y/o who have made it to the top. Not without oxygen though. This article was two days ago, didn't find any new updates. :scared:

Solo Japanese climber begins first Everest ascent since deadly avalanche

A solo Japanese climber is expected to start the arduous trek to Camp II on Mount Everest, which at 21,000 feet (6,400 meters) will present a massive challenge to a man whose fingers were amputated to the first joint during a previous attempt to scale the world's highest mountain.

While the fall climbing season is a tough enough time to attempt to scale the world's highest mountain, the 33-year old is climbing alone and without oxygen.

Good morning all!

Am in a RUSH here to get out the door and start my drive down to Southern California! :happydance:

But wanted to answer your question here. I won't be able to post any more, as I'm going to get ready after this post! :D You all will just have to wait for Sunday night to see how my Mamma celebrated her 25th birthday! :)

(nipped for space)

GigiG said a few post back about hearing personal histories and where we came from, and if it's not offending may I ask what is the ethnicity of that part of Europe? Where did their parents come from? I'm thinking people migrating outward from Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization, and bloodlines.

Latvia and Lithuania are of Indo-European language, where Estonia is more with Finland as Uralic language. My older brother traveled thru India and remarked that a LOT of words in Indian were the same as Latvian. You'll have to wait until I get to the end of my story to find out my ethnic background! LOL!! I did a search after my mother died; hooked up with a lady from Latvia on a Latvian web site that did geneology searches there! I got a LOT!!! Amazing what I found!

Anyway... off on my trip!!!!! Take care everyone!! A BIG  to ALL who need it!!

Indo - European as in India? The Romani's (Gypsies) came from the northwest regions of India. Thye suffered

The Romani people, also referred to depending on the sub-group as Roma, Sinti or Sindhi, Kale, or Romani , are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group, who live primarily in Europe. They originated in northwest regions of the Indian subcontinent[1][2][3] and left sometime between the 6th and 11th century to work in Middle Eastern courts of their own volition, or as slaves. A small number of nomadic groups were cut off from their return to the subcontinent by conflicts and moved west,[1] eventually settling in Europe, Turkey and North Africa via Iran. Wikipedia

I'll stop there until I get back from lunch with dh. There is much more and very sad, but interesting. How can man treat a fellow human being with so much hate.

I'm at the point where I can give my DNA on both sides of my family and where they cam from in Europe.
