Phoenix freeway shooting suspect: 'I'm the wrong guy'

"All I have to say is I'm the wrong guy. I tried telling the detectives that. My gun's been in the pawn shop the last two months. I haven't even had access to a weapon," he said as he stood handcuffed in a black and white striped jail uniform.

This should be an interesting "trial" if it goes that far, there's still the other shootings to account for, there hasn't been any additional ones since the first "POI" was arrested, and was later released.

Greetings from Hospital Hell. They ran over my charger with the bed and there is little wifi so I have hoped to come and bring you some night shine. Or is that moonshine.

I am really sick. Not a little. I am not happy that I am this sick, which does not make Zuri a pleasant person to be around. Today was my 28 th wedding anniversary which I spent with the TV! But the best part was and I hope this will make you smile, I pissed off a bunch of nurses and a doctor who stood on policy and not practicality. I let these people have it as I pointed out that the lack of communication between what patients take at home and the continuation of those meds in the hospital caused withdrawal, confusion and affected me too.

Well, one of the nurses actually counted my f bombs. One brought a physician an in to try and reason with me. Well, let's just say that did not work. He had the audacity to tell me NO ONE HAD EVER QUESTIONED THIS POLICY. For those of you who know me, my answer was probably apparent. Well, I got my way, and hopefully others won't have to suffer by going into withdrawal because of stupidity.

I can't breathe, but I sure was yelling. Lungs are a mess. They did the cardiac 3D Echo to see what happened. I had been told there was no whited out parts of my lungs by the tech and he lied. I do. This is not good.

I just want you all to know how much I deeply care and love each of you if something goes bad. No melodrama here. Just fact. You have made my life so much richer, kinder, more wonderful, fuller and I have grown from every interaction. This recovery is going to take a while. My immune system is shot to begin with so a virus just took hold and got me good. I haven't slept well in nights so my look is interesting... But hey, they have the best stress incontinence pads here on the face of the planet. Bright side. Always. I love you.

Soooo happy to hear from you, even though I wish you had better news to share. Pretty funny, though! Glad that whatever else might be wrong with you, your sense of humor is intact!

What a bummer about spending your anniversary in the hospital. :(

I can't even imagine having breathing problems the likes of what you're going through. That must really suck! Even a cold (which I have right now) makes me so uncomfortable and aware of not having clear air passages. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably be dropping some f-bombs, too!

Please hang in there and keep us posted. Looking forward to hearing about a dx and resolution of your issues.

Love you! :)

I think of all those that moved west to find a piece of ground to own. To ride for miles and miles in a wagon with your children and all you own in the world, to an unknown frontier.

Bernina, where did your family come from in this world?

This is where my father's family settled. My great grandfather rode for days to find mountains because my great grandmother was from Switzerland and missed the mountains of Bern.

This link below is not working, but if you go to Kiowa County Oklahoma, and chose the with with rebel you can see some of the different landscapes of Oklahoma.

After we moved to Texas we only went back twice. One was soon after we moved for a visit, and the second was when grandma Cora died. The next time I'd be in Oklahoma was on our way to Wichita Kansas for our honeymoon. Why Kansas? LOL Several reasons, and it wasn't a fun trip.

Every year in November I made up tons of Divinity for family and friends and freeze it for the Holidays. Here is my Grandma's recipe and one I found for microwave today. Think I might try the microwave one and see how it turns out. If anyone wants copy grandma's recipe, go for it :) But, if you decide make a batch, let me know...some tips and secrets have been passed down :)

Grandma's Divinity

3 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
2 well beaten egg whites
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1 tsp. vanilla

In saucepan boil the sugar, water and syrup over a medium heat until it reaches the soft ball stage. That is when you drop a little syrup in cold water, it will then form a soft ball.
While you are cooking the syrup to a soft ball stage, have the mixer beating the egg whites until they are stiff. Pour half the syrup into the stiffly beaten egg whites. Keep boiling the rest of the syrup until when a spoon full is dropped back into the pan it will form a small long line of crackling sugar and water.

Pour rest of syrup into egg mixture and continue beating until the candy stands up in peaks. Put on wax paper by the spoonfuls.

Microwave Divinity------Yields 90 pieces

4 C. Sugar
1 C Karo
3/4 C Water
1 t Vanilla
3 Egg Whites
Dash of Salt
1 1/2 C Pecans

Combine sugar, karo, salt & water in a 2 qt bowl. Microwave on high for 18-19 minutes stirring every 5 min. ( make sure mixture doesn't start to turn yellow---if it does it has cooked too long) Beat egg whites until stiff. Pour syrup mixture gradually into egg whites beating constantly. Continue for about 10-12 min until mixture looses its shine. Fold in vanilla and pecans. (Optional)

My grandma made it as well!! Loved Christmas eve---we got a coffee can of grandma's cookies. Yum!!! Best ever!! Miss her

When my mother died in 1974, her brother bought five cemetary plots. One for her ,and the others for the four of us. When my father died in 1995 we buried him up there next to her, and the next morning there was an earthquake, and we laughed that he looked over and saw he was buried next to her and rolled over in his grave in shame.

Uncle Lee (he didn't want to be called grandpa, he was always Uncle Lee) had bought five plots way back in 1934, when my mother's mother died. That is where he and Cora, along with Cora's mother and father are buried; Across the old rock wall; on the old side of the cemetery. Many of the headstone are so sad to read. So many women and children are buried there going back to the 1800's.. Many of the headstones are rocks or crude cement with names just scratched on them.

Did you know that there were many concentration camps in Oklahoma in the 1940's? I remember my mother telling of the German captives in Wewoka.

I love this song. Townes Van Zandt is in several of the shots. He lived a very trouble life. Can you find him?

Merle Haggard missed being born in Oklahoma when his family farm burned down during the depression, and the family moved to Bakersfield, California and lived in a boxcar. Willie is a Texas boy.

I went to my favorite arts & crafts festival today, and although it was blisteringly hot out, I spent $220 on 5 vendors including one of my all-time favorite jewelry ones and was able to replace some of my stolen jewelry- including some of the exact earrings!!! It makes me so happy to get some of my stuff back and pretty stuff that I'll enjoy wearing, even though it isn't the same, and those a_holes didn't get me totally!!!:skip::skip::happydance::loveyou::tyou:

Mostly Sweden, right before the Civil war and the end of WW2. Came over as new LDS converts.
I had genealogy crammed down my throat since I was a wee kid (grew up Mormon), so it's pretty boring for me as far as my family, I don't ride on my ancestor's coat tails like so many others in my family do. Threw all the genealogy stuff away when I became a Born Again when I was 20, the old "don't waste time on endless genealogies" from the New Testament.
Then I left that "religion".............
Grandparents on both sides were bi-lingual. Swedish, English, and then there was some German/Russian thrown in there because you never knew who might invade your little slice of heaven, better to know if the invading army had plans on executing you so you could escape.
So, my ethnicity and culture is kind of important to me, none of my ancestors were involved in the Civil War or slavery, they didn't have issues with racism like Scandinavia seems to have now, many took in Jews, Gypsies, and whoever else was being persecuted in Europe....and the older ancesters raped and pillaged in some pretty cool sea vessels, but weren't too interested in conquering the world like so many other groups. They weren't hung up on death, hell, and all that stuff.
Somewhere is a wife or mistress to Henry the 8th, Erik the Red is somewhere in the mess, some of them were in the Mormon hand cart deal (related by marriage). Then there's the yahoo my mom married (2nd marriage) that's all puffed up about his grandfather being part of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, yeah, dude, that's something to REALLY be proud of, NOT.

That explains why I can be pretty chill about stuff, but get kind of heated when it comes to human rights, religion, because I like the "neutral" attitude that was once Scandinavian, live and let live......and we may just invade you to get something we want, but we'll leave when we've got it, lol!
Crazy Vikings!!!!

Any history that the family recorded was basically about their conversion and life as Mormons, some wild ones about helping Mormons who escaped the Holocaust. Just not into it. My mom wasted thousands of hours putting all the stuff together because the Church said to do it, they do baptism for the dead, etc. (baptism and temple marriage by proxy). Have to make sure all your ancestors get baptized as Mormons or they're going to hell.
So there's that LDS connection with genealogy that turns me off big time. I am "deprogrammed", lol!

I'm so sorry, Bernina if I brought back so many unpleasant memories. I never knew anything about Mormons in Europe, and thought it more a "modern" religion here in America. To everyone, I'm not asking anything about religion, but the region your family came from. I see there are several from the Netherlands and Scandinavian and the Baltic, and it would be something to find a connection.
