I received a text alert a little while ago. The Orlando Sentinel has a new article. Her civil attorneys have filed a new motion. They are now claiming the HHJP has now made it impossible for her to get a fair trial due to his interview where he said there was enough evidence to convict. I can't link from my phone but it is at their website.

links are in the bankruptcy thread ....

:floorlaugh:
I'm in the opposite camp; I think she relishes attention, however she can get it. I think what she hated was Mason getting her round her neck in a half-nelson and dragging her into the courthouse, messing up both her hair and her red-carpet moment! She showed up all tricked out with a new hair color and matching nail polish, and Mason missed his cue or something, raining on her parade. lol

As long as someone else is paying the bills, I think she's as happy as a clam. For now. Eventually the gravy train will derail and the confinement will chap her behind, but I really doubt that she's "suffering" right now.

And anyway, who cares? She didn't end up discarded in a swamp, her bones scattered by animals, her mother and grandparents literally living off her memory. A pox on them all.

:stormingmad:
She certainly looked all flustered and the best part was when her shoe fell off and she had to stand there awkwardly putting it back on as the cameras rolled. :floorlaugh: Someone should put together a blooper reel. It would start with Jose hiding her under an umbrella when he first bailed her out, and then the wind came up and popped the umbrella open exposing her make-up free face. There is also the time when she was being escorted by her security team and she got tangled up in the police tape. The faceplant in the elevator was one of my favorites. FCA is a lot of things, but graceful is not one of them! :floorlaugh:

I can find nothing at all about Jose Baez being on the Piers Morgan show - not a peep!

Re: Judge Perry speaking out - this is a man who does nothing impulsively. I am quite certain since he was responsible for the criminal case against her, and she is currently in civil court - that despite all the BK lawyers bellyaching - he was in a legal position to say whatever he wanted. There is no way he would have stepped forward if he wasn't very sure of his legal position and responsibilities.

This is a Judge who knows more about the law that most lawyers put together. To me their complaining is just a pathetic shot at sympathy... All IMO.

PIERS MORGAN LIVE

Ariel Castro Behind Bars; New Photos of Castro's Yard; Castro Brothers Speaking Out; Government Subpoenaed Reporters' Phone Records

Aired May 13, 2013

Joining me now is Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's former attorney and author of "Presumed Guilty." Also here, my old friend attorney Gloria Allred. Welcome to you both.

GLORIA ALLRED, CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY: Well, he's certainly eligible for it. My real concern, though, is the political nature of all of this, in the sense that the anti-choice, the anti-abortion groups are going to try to use this case --already are trying to use this case, Piers, as a way to get new laws which will restrict abortions even further, and which will then cause women to have to seek back-alley doctors, such as Dr. Gosnell, which will be dangerous to their health.

MORGAN: Right. Because Jose Baez, the reality is that he fragrantly breeched existing laws, didn't he? That's what we're dealing with.

JOSE BAEZ, AUTHOR, "PRESUMED GUILTY": Yes, absolutely. And then you have various other factors as to his intent. You know, common sense will tell you that if you're delivering a live baby, that that's absolute and complete murder. But I think there's going to be a lot of gray here in the area of the sentencing phase, as to what his actual intent was, and whether it was easily provable that he had specific intent to murder.

MORGAN: Yes, I completely agree with that. Let's move onto O.J. Simpson, because he's appearing in court on Wednesday, appealing against his conviction. Jose Baez, this may be the time we get to hear O.J. testify.

BAEZ: I think you're definitely going to hear from him. The key issue here is whether the plea was actually conveyed by Mr. Galanter to O.J. Now, if Mr. Simpson claims that it wasn't delivered and Mr. Galanter says that it was, I think the court will err on the side of caution and actually deny his petition. But if there's some other type of evidence that actually lends credence to his argument that he was not given that plea, that's a very, very serious thing.

As a defense lawyer, you must convey all pleas and all plea overtures to your client.

MORGAN: Could be crucial. And O.J. will be testifying probably on Wednesday. And that could a big day in the courts because Jodi Arias, Jose Baez, could also be literally fighting for her life, trying to ward off a death penalty sentence. What do you think will happen there?

BAEZ: Well, in this case, I initially thought that she had a great shot at getting life in prison. After this interview, which I know the prosecutor is going to use against her -- I think he's going to play it. He's going to harp on it. He's going to bring it and put it in their face, just like he did with the no jury will ever convict me statement. So right now, it's anybody's guess as to whether she's going to get life or not.

MORGAN: It's going to be a fascinating day on Wednesday. O.J. Simpson and Jodi Arias both on the stand. Who knows what will happen.

Jose Baez and Gloria Allred, thank you both very much. And we'll be right back after this short break.

Appreciate it ThinkTank - his usual then...

I didn't look very hard today because we have a critical election on in our province - quite the nail biter...for me at least. Sadly half of our population doesn't bother voting...they like to complain A LOT - but can't walk/drive a couple of blocks to a voting booth.

:pullhair:

I hear ya. While I do complain a lot about our political process, I always vote, figuring if I don't, I 1) give up my right to continue complaining about it and 2) by not voting, I'm handing a free vote to the other side! My husband used to be completely apolitical...until I got my mitts on him. :) Now he won't shut up about it...I've created a monster! :D

OT- IMO, citizens get the Government they elect - if they don't vote then they have no reason to complain.

Very O/T - Well it's over and the party I supported - which was in power - was polled to get just awful results and would lose many seats.

We've had a month of pundits, talking heads, pollsters, politicians and tweeters say it's time for a change. According to Angus Reid and many other pollsters put them 10 - 20 points behind and about to get destroyed.

Bwahahaha - they swept a huge win - almost decimating the "pundits favoured party" and led by a woman Premier. I sat on my sofa and laughed and laughed while the news media sputtered and scrambled and tried to cover their shock. They are still floundering around this morning on the news casts.

Those guys need to quit talking to themselves and talk to the people who actually vote. Wait - they can't - voters have jobs and are busy working and supporting their families - no time to tweet, be on social media non-stop or sitting in forums.

It was the best yet!! Okay O/T over!!:floorlaugh:

O/t
Today is my only day off this week so along with much needed grocery shopping I decided to hit the bookstore...I saw that Amanda Knox's memoir "Waiting to be Heard" is out.

Oh Hi Jose! :seeya:

How many people remember how hard it was for some of gentler members to believe that a mother would kill her own child?

BBC has done a special report about Child Deaths In America.

Worth following the link - this is heartbreaking - one child is too many - but this many? What has gone wrong?

Hard to read for I think we need to know these things...

Considering the population size difference, the problem is not much better in the UK.

Well, I agree children all over the world are being abused at horrendous numbers and we re in the midst of a crisis, and need to be paying attention.

The UK article was about child deaths and didn't not include sexual abuse cases in their initial numbers unless they included death.

One child a week is killed in the UK and Wales combined. One child is killed in the USA every five hours. The population of the USA is five times that of the UK. So factored out - the UK death rate is still much lower. The population of the States is 313.9 million - the UK is 63.2 million.

I was simply bringing an article of interest to me to the thread, not pointing fingers at who is "the most wrong". We need to be paying attention to this crisis. Now I am going to seek out Canadian child death rates.

Edited to add: Child deaths of children murdered per year in Canada is 650 children per year under the age of five. The population of Canada is 35 million.

I went to visit Caylee yesterday and left a purple balloon for her and a blue balloon for Travis Alexander. I said a prayer for her and Travis from us here at Websleuths. I then went to light a candle in Caylee's thread that Wolf mom keeps.

Here are some photos and a video that ANewsJunkie help me create to post . first the video, and Next three photographs.
