Is it legal, in Florida, to put the SAME LICENSE PLATE on two different vehicles??

George Anthony had the license plate on the black Chevy HHR in 2007, 2008, 2009 - then switched cars and put the same license plate on the red Jeep in 2011!

Is Cindy still driving the green Toyota 4-Runner?
In my state, if you own the car you can transfer plates to a new car. At least, that's the way it used to be.

ETA: LOL...see that this question has been answered.

If Caylee's Fund was granted tax exempt status, when it closed, the IRS requires the organization to file a Form 990. (Link to form)

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f990.pdf

It would be "nice" to know if this was filed. Is that possible to determine? (I am thinking of the Sunshine Laws...)

TIA

P.S. UGH!! Of course, the organization could give to another non-profit, such as a CHURCH, and the church could provide faith based services as they saw fit...Way too many loopholes in the law and WAY too many attorneys interpreting the law...

I too find it suspicious that within a few short months of receiving $600,000 that the Fund was dissolved.

The specific purpose of the corporation, CayleesFund Foundation Inc.,
Article III

1-Advocating for Grandparents rights with regards to grandchildren
2-Assisting grandparents of missing, neglected, or exploited grandchildren

Did any of that happen?

Of Note..George and Cindy were not listed on the Articles of Incorporation for this fund..
Mark Lippman was the Incorporator AND the Registered Agent

The Articles of incorporation also states that no part of the net earnings shall benefit or be distributed to it's directors, officers or other private person.

BUT WAIT! there's more
The corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered.

So IMO it's reasonable to ask did ANYONE receive payment for services rendered?
What were the Administrative Expenses?

Excellent research! Thank you Intermezzo!!

See post 1560 above. This is federal. Sunshine law is FL. There was an annual report filed in Fl one month before it was voluntarily desolved. http://sunbiz.org/

Somewhere back in the mists of time I recall people posting that the Anthonys and Lippman had been seen flying first class from Orlando to
Houston - that was on August 1st 2011, weeks before the interview aired.
At the same time there was speculation they were going there to meet with FCA, but apparently it was to Dr Phil's house instead.

I remember that! A passenger on the same flight took cellphone photos of Cindy and George.

George and Cindy are also trying to negotiate a sit-down interview with Anderson Cooper's new show. A source said, "They're asking $450,000." An "Anderson" show rep said, "We would never pay that."

Wasn't it during this same period of time, with the establishment of the "newest" fund, that they also filed for copyright (or something like that) of the phrase "Justice for Caylee" or her name or something like that? . . . and what the heck do you think motivated them to do that?

Wasn't there something about Cindy not liking it that other people were making T-shirts, and key chains and banners with Caylee's name, so she tried to stop it by copyrighting Caylee's name? I don't think she was legally able to do that though?

Feb 12, 2009 - FCA 3-page letter to Robyn Adams

page 54 - she [Cindy] met with Meredith Viera, the Today Show or Good Morning America. "She is not well enough to take advantage of seeing me in person on Friday, but can shmooze with the dirtbags the next day?! Seriously?!" .....

...."Come to find out that she put a Trademark on Caylee's name months back, never told me, and even talked about doing the same with mine. This is the same time she publicly states that she plans on writing a book about this! B-E-T-R-A-Y-A-L!!! I'm so sick to my stomach even thinking about this. I'm the only person who has tried to protect Caylee throughout all of this, and it kills me! All my Mom talks about now is doing a public service for herself, because she needs to. I can't believe my own mother is capitalizing, or trying to, off of everything that has happened." I had written her expressing my disgust, grief and hurt, after what happened on Friday, this is before finding out all of this. And what happens when she meets up with Baez yesterday to read my letter? She laughs at the idea of getting caught with her lunch on Saturday. Laughs!"

Lippman did that trademark work before the trial when it became clear there would be huge media and lineups of people. It was to prevent ebay and sidewalk hawkers from selling any kind of souvenir trash from showing up all over the place.

When George, Cindy and Lippman flew to Houston to see Dr. Phil, we can pretty much believe he - Dr. Phil paid for that flight and the accommodations. No surprise there.

I emailed Steve Helling to ask about the $600K - how he came by that figure.
He told me that he got the information from two sources; one person who
worked for Petesky Productions- Dr Phil's organization, and one from inside the Anthony camp, who was involved in the negotiations for the interview. He told me his corporate lawyers insisted on more than one source before they approved publication of that figure. Since he published that article he has not received any denial or phone call from the Anthonys (he explains he has been on the receiving end of some angry phone calls from them in the past) they are usually quick to point out when information is wrong.

As far as what happened to the funds - he says $125K went for legal expenses, $100K was dispersed to charities when the fund closed down, and the remaining $375K was in the Anthonys hands.....
He also mentions bringing this up to the Auditor General and Secretary of State's offices and no one showed interest in taking any action.

Thank You ZsaZsa - I appreciate you taking the extra effort to ask Steve Helling where he got the figure from even if he isn't providing the names of the actual sources. Throughout the trial and since that time he has been the source of some pretty wild rumours so additional information about these disbursements is helpful, makes sense, and gives us something to work on besides rumours floating around "out there".

Since Lippman came on the scene - he has kept an extremely tight rein on the Anthony's comments and actions so no surprise Steve Helling didn't get a phone call.

So for me the big question is - if this was a corporation set up simply to accommodate the payment from Dr. Phil (and protect it from any collection services that may be tracking the Anthony's) and in fact was not a charity as several members have shown - was Dr. Phil just covering his media ash by saying it was a contribution to charity to dampen the outrage that he even had them on his show? Because I think Lippman is way too smart a lawyer to be committing charity fraud with so many eyes watching this process. IMO

And if the Anthony's actually received 375K, and paid off their mortgage which was an amount more than the value of their house, and did some reno's and bought a couple of vehicles - they aren't exactly rolling in cash. What would they have left? Maybe 100K? Big whoop. FCA could blow through that pretty easily.

All IMO. :moo:

Thank you for this helpful information!

IMO it is disgusting and unethical that the Anthonys and their attorney would allow even one penny from a "public charity" to be spent on personal things for the Anthonys! How could they in good conscious spend a CHARITY donation on personal home remodelling and personal cars and personal money to their daughter? There is nothing acceptable about what they have done.

They may have skirted around the laws and since the person who made the $ 600,000 donation [Dr. Phil Show], is not personally complaining to authorities, about how their "donation" to the public charity was spent, the authorities are not taking action.

However, the civil cases and the bankruptcy courts would be very interested in any amount of money that FCA has received from any source.

It appears to me that CayleesFund was not approved by IRS for NP status. Did Dr. Phil "donate" the money to a non legal charity? Who endorsed the check and where was it cashed? Seems that would be a gift and gifts over a certain amount are taxable (2009 – 2012 $13,000 per individual). Dr. Phil should not be able to claim as a deduction if it was not to a NP. It would be interesting to know the answers to the above question.

I just did a search and found the following. http://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/

45-2776760 Cayleesfund Foundation Inc. Orlando FL United States PC

PC A public charity. 50% ( means only 50% of donation is deductible)

A search for 990 says none were found. A search for automatic revocation "no organizations found".

The EIN is 45-2776760

Guess I was wrong. I had searched previously and never found anything.

If they indeed did not get Not for Profit status, then this wasn't a charity no matter what Dr. Phil would like to call it for the sake of appeasing the public.

And he may not have gotten a tax receipt for making a donation, but a guest appearance cost for a TV show is considered an expense for doing business no matter which column you want to put it in your P&L - and it's still a write-off for his production company's bottom line.

If it wasn't a charity then the Antony's weren't ripping off a charity, but blood money is blood money whether or not they felt they earned it or it was a "gift". They took advantage of Caylee's murder to sensationalize it and earn money. For me that's the real crime here.

That's for sure. Since then, others (coughJodiAriascough) have taken this page from the Anthony playbook, but because of the outrage at Caylee's injustice, most people aren't falling for it anymore.

According to the information I edited to add in the post you quoted, they did receive NP, with only 50% of a donation being deductible. No 990 has been filed. http://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/ listed as Cayleesfund Foundation Inc. EIN 45-2776760

I guess when someone's willing to pay like the Dr. Phil's of the world (under the guise of being a sympathetic but impartial shrink) he will always find lowlifes willing to play with him.

Why is it the innocent victims get left behind for the sake of the gossip and infamy of those surrounding the case. Sleaze sells....

50% being deductible for who? You mean Dr. Phil could only claim half or the Foundation would only pay taxes on half?

Dr. Phil wouldn't care about that - the 50% that is non-deductible slides into production costs and is still non- taxable.

The question for me is did the Foundation have to pay taxes on the Dr. Phil money. Legal expenses at 125K would be Lippman's share, less 100K to a charity, leaving them $375K. So did they have to pay taxes on the 375K?

If they had to pay any taxes and paid their house off and bought a couple of news cars - I still say they don't have much money left.....

I wish I had the answer to that. All I know is that it has been almost 2 years and that sense of hopelessness and disgust I felt when that verdict came down still hasn't completely left me. I long for the day when Casey will finally be made accountable in some way for what she did. Until then, I wish she, and her family, and her hoard of lawyers would just fade away.
