SM as a potential focus of the investigation

The main thing her friend's interview told me was that Terri is not all that intelligent. Like others, I got a real Misty vibe from that article. I'm thinking maybe LE is waiting to arrest her when they decide whether they are going to find Kyron's body or whether they're going to need to prosecute without a body. Also, they may need more evidence than the fact that she's hinky as all get out, was the last person to see Kyron, and can't reasonably account for her whereabouts. I mean, that pretty much describes Susan Powell's husband, and he's not arrested.

I'm getting the vibe that maybe she thinks everyone else is stupid because if she had given the teacher the paperwork the day before there was no reason to mention the dr. appointment the day of science fair.

ITA, it could be passive-agressive STEADFAST. Reading that article it said to me she has already taken a LD test, now taking a 2nd one. If one passed the first LD test, would LE make one take a 2nd test? I don't think so. WHY?

Yes, LE can request multiple LD tests, and she has every right to refuse them if she wants. It's possible new information/theories have developed since the last test. Regardless whether she passed the first one, they may want to ask about things they didn't in the first exam.

So long as she hasn't lawyered up and is willing, it's a great opportunity for LE and a good idea on their part since it could help guide them toward or away from various scenarios.

I am so confused :(

Me too. I've concluded that confusion is caused by either lying, not enough information, or both.

In this case, there is a whopping big helping of not enough information, and probably some lying, too.

It sounds like it to me. Boy, I'd be angry when I read that, if I were the teacher. That article makes it sound like SM thinks the teacher is young, dumb, and deaf. It does not respect the teacher's credibility at all. If I were the teacher, I'd call the police and heartily reiterate whatever it was I had told them, just in self-defense. I'm mouthy that way.

The comic relief is outstanding tonight, my oh my!

IMO this article is important in that it shows one of TH's recounts of the day to be very suspect. The "appointment" - first it was shouted across the gym to the teacher and it was for the following Monday, now - she gave the teacher paperwork and it was for the next Friday.

And the commonality between both of these stories? The teacher is deaf! Can't hear in the gym and if it's story #2 regarding the appointment timing, well, Terri isn't sure "she understood her" then either. She's new after all. And hard of hearing.

IMO, Terri wanted her side of the story out there. She had a friend speak to the media because for whatever reason she didn't want to talk to them directly.

I doubt her friend would have given her full name and such an in-depth interview without Terri's knowledge. Her friend appears to be very defensive of Terri's story.
I totally agree. The friend could have given this interview in all sincerity, trying to give Terri's side as a beleaguered, overwhelmed mom. The problem is that there is nothing in this article that suggests Terri is concerned about KYRON's whereabouts!!

I think you said that loud enough for even Kyron's teacher to hear it. NICE!

Whereabouts on Division? I might have to go over tomorrow to smile at him myself!

Hi Gwenaqbob, I was headed down past 122nd on Division and drove maybe 6 blocks or so going towards 205. It was on the left side of the road. Perfectly placed to where it looked like Kyron was looking right down at you with his great big smile. xox

Thanks Sherbie, I really appreciated your post.

And what if the first test showed untruths. Would a second test be a given? Would they have told her what they learned in the first test if it was negative?

That precious little angel...I bet it was both sweet and painful to see his darling, smiling little face.

Did they use one of the pictures we've seen, Scandi?

Not sure where to put this but..

The banners hanging over 26 were taken down. This had me in a tizzy today but they announced on KGW tonight that ODOT had the friends (of Kaine's) take them down. Darn you, ODOT. :(

(Note that I am talking about banners hanging off of overpasses over HWY 26, not talking about the billboards that Clear Channel put up)

I didn't feel the banners over 26 were that much of a distraction when I saw them. Ho hum. :(

You're welcome, Scandi! So far as I know, tests can continue to be given as long as she's willing to take them. I'm not sure if they always tell someone whether they've entirely passed the test.

I tend to think if she'd failed the first test, they would have told her so and been relentless in their interrogation of her thereafter, causing her to think twice about consenting to another one and to have definitely lawyered up by now.

I am certainly not an expert on this, just my opinion.

I wonder if one of the polygraph questions tomorrow (oh, later today I mean) will be: Do you or your husband have life insurance on little Kyron?

I have no idea what is asked on those things, just thinking out loud.

Gee, I forgot to look at the bridge over Sylvan tonight where there was a banner hanging earlier in the week. Of course it was very dark tonight due to that very blue/black sky above.

Ever since I first heard about this case, there has been one phrase rolling around in my mind over and over: "He was last seen by his stepmom at 8:45 am walking toward his classroom." (paraphrase) The bottom dropped out of my stomach the first time I read that. It didn't ring true. It seemed so vague and--I don't know. What I pictured was her standing there, watching this little boy walk off into oblivion. This phrase still makes my blood run cold, and I can't get it out of my mind.
Poor sweet little guy. :(

Something that keeps bugging me is that SM would have to be about as dumb as a box of rocks to think she could get away with leaving with Kyron without a soul seeing her on such a busy day.

So many parents were there -- she could have been spotted by anyone from a window inside a building, from someone in a parked car, someone coming down the street, someone already outside or just stepping outside as she left...

All it would take would be one person remembering seeing her leave with Kyron to ruin the whole plan. That's just so extremely risky. We've seen crazier things, so I know it's possible, but it doesn't seem likely to me.

Looks like the appointment part of that rumor panned out, though.

Usually where there's smoke, there's at least a little fire.

Unless that smoke is just being blown outta someone's behind -- someone just saying what they think and it evolving into "fact" (at least temporarily) or someone just making stuff up for whatever reason, which we've seen in these cases before.

It would be nice if LE could address some specific issues, although I understand they can't if it would be detrimental to the case. Something's gotta give before long, though.

She may not have thought that but I am sure,if she did this, she would have seen if anyone saw her. I am guessing that as she left there wasn't a soul around. They were probably all in the classrooms or office. The truth is, no one DID see them leave. Not one person that we have heard of has said they saw Kyron leave with her or anyone else. Maybe if she had been seen this wouldn't have happened.

But it would be even riskier for the total stranger or someone in general, who had no business being with Kyron. It would be risky (and dumb, as you said) for anyone to take this child. But it would be easiest for his stepmom to do so.

I was driving, thus focused on the road as it was so dark, starting to rain. All I saw was his bright face and he had his glasses on. I noticed that of all the strange things to note. ;} In the seconds it took to drive on by I just saw his face and the rest of the photo didn't matter at the time.

I don't know if the sign was lit - don't think so. It was just so perfectly placed. xox

If that someone is blowing it out of their behind (you said it not me :))wouldn't they be digging an even deeper hole for Terri, given they are "a longtime friend"?

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/friend_says_terry_moulton_horm.html

Finster said Horman had told Kyron's teacher the day before that she was taking the boy to the doctor on Friday, June 11, and gave the teacher paperwork to fill out related to the appointment.

Finster said that when Kyron didn't show up at the bus the afternoon of June 4, Horman talked to the teacher who said she thought that Horman had taken Kyron to the doctor that day. Horman told Finster that the child's teacher was new, in her first year of teaching, and was hard of hearing in one ear. "She doesn't know if she understood her," Finster said.

Looks to me like Terri told her friend a version of the appointment scenario.
