I don't watch NG often but the other night I did and noticed that she will ask a question and before the person can answer she goes right on to the next guest.

LOL

I would say the original 70's early 80's cast was the "Golden Age" and that the 90's cast was the "Renaissance."

Anybody watching Boston Legal this season? They're doing a spoof of Nancy Grace also. It's pretty funny.

The 70's SNL was completely radical for the times. We could not believe what we were seeing. It wasn't just the comedy that was so great, it was the subject matter that they dared make fun of.
So if you only saw reruns way after the fact, I can understand that it just may not carry the same oomph. But back then every Sunday morning was about SNL the night before and how can they do that? lol!
It was great! It was such a departure from what we had been watching up until then. Now it is mild compared to what is aired on TV. But back then? it was WOW.

too bad SNL hasn't been good for so long. they would go through phases but it really seems to have lost it for a LONG time. i haven't watched since will farrell, mike myers & the others from their time left. the 90's was truly the golden age, IMO (church chat, linda richman's cawffee tawk, the gap girls <esp. chris farley! lol>, unfrozen caveman lawyer, deep thoughts, dana carvey doing bush sr. and will ferrell as bush jr... priceless!!, and of course sprocketts!), in those days, i wouldn't miss it for anything! since then, i tried watching several times (jimmy & horatio were a good team) but eventually gave up on it altogether. ugh,, since when did potty humor become cutting edge....??? the funniest thing i've seen since then was 'stuart' (that just kills me how his mother's always trying to touch him & he's always trying to get away from her!),, and 'lorraine' from MAD TV-- mo collins is dead-on,, what a great character!
I, too, loved the 1990s SNL! I've enjoyed the reruns of the 70s ones, and I know how much my parents love them, but like you said, it's a generational thing. I was in high school and college in the 90s, and I loved Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Wayne's World, Deep Thoughts, Matt Foley the Motivational Speaker, Church Chat, Dana Carvey impersonating both George Bush Sr. and Ross Perot! As soon as I read about SNL doing a Nancy Grace skit, I imagined Melanie Hutsell (Delta Delta Delta) as Nancy Grace. I think that would have been great to see.

I stopped watching SNL in the late 90s/early 2000s because IMO it started going downhill :(

That's a good way of putting it! The 70s and the 90s were both great eras for SNL.

Okay, for us really old folks, who remembers The Smothers Brothers? I know a lot of folks watched Laugh In instead, but I loved the Brothers!
