First witness is sworn in. A young white woman with hair pulled back. Prosecutor asks her to speak up. She's a medic of some sort.

Judge intervenes. Boxes for files on her desk are obscuring the witness. #DewaniTrial

There are 2 assessors beside Judge, as in Pistorius trial. They have not been introduced. A grey haired white man and a younger black woman.

So the witness - a doctor - conducted preliminary examination of Ani's body at the crime scene. #DewaniTrial

Van Zyl - tetchily - asks witness to start again and speak up. Then we get feedback on court loud speakers. #DewaniTrial
