VZ: And if the hijacking happened and the accused was thrown out of the car, how would the men know where the money was?

Tongo: We all knew where the money would be. As for that time (in Strand) I don't know.

VZ: I would've thought that the money to be paid to the killers was rather important

Tongo: As you are saying, sir, that's how you think

Traverso: Was it not important?

Tongo: I was trusting the accused so much that he would take care of everything.

VZ: If this hijacking took place the 1st time & these gentlemen didn't find the money, what did you think was going to happen to you?

Tongo: They might have thought that I took the money.

VZ: What do you think would've happened to you?

Tongo: I don't know

VZ: It seems you did exactly nothing to make sure that the money is in the cubbyhole or the car

Traverso: Did you ask the accused if the money was there?

Tongo: There was a time when I wanted to find out where the money was. It's the time he replied that the money was at the back, in the pouch behind the seat.

(I'm very sure Tongo texted SD while in the car and SD replied, it was about the money)

VZ: You said you called Vuks to take the couple. Did you make arrangements for the money to be left in Vuk's car?

Tongo: I didn't meet with him. I asked him to do a transfer, when he said he couldn't, that's how we left it

(yes Mr VZ, Tongo said it twice already, VZ is trying to trip him up on things he has admitted to.)

VZ refers to Monde Mbolombo's statement

Monde says Tongo told him that he'll take the 2 ppl to a restaurant in Somerset West & then Gugulethu.

Tongo: I didn't say that to Monde. I cannot confirm what he said or wrote

Tongo maintains he doesn't know what was written by Monde

this is where I wonder about the judge certainly she must be seeing the repetitiousness of his line of questioning

VZ: according to Monde, you were to pay Qwabe and Mngeni money before the events of Sat evening?

VZ: I understand you say that is incorrect?

Tongo: yes

VZ: Saturday, when you had to pick up the accused & the woman, I suppose this was a rather important transaction?

Tongo: what was the important transaction?

VZ: To pick them up at 19h30, and take them to hijacking, but you were late? why?

Tongo: Because my knees were trembling

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 2m2 minutes ago

VZ: Why didn't you just call it off?

Tongo: Because the accused person told me that I am the only person who knows of this & the accused mentioned that he would increase my business by referring people to me.

VZ:you set the child locks on car?

Tongo:correct.

VZ: why?

Tongo:to make a success of what we had decided on.

VZ: Mr. Tongo, what were you earning with that car at that time?

Tongo: It all depends

VZ: Give us an idea

Tongo: If it was a busy month, I would make about 30 to 40 000 Rand

So for R5000 which he didn't even receive, he was willing to be involved in a murder and ended up with 18years in prison.

Yep, doesn't sound right. I wonder what will Judge decide if she thinks this witness is lying. Will that be the end of the trial? :dunno:

And the PT don't object either, it's just going down the rabbit hole.

VZ: You set the child locks on the doors. But why lock them in if they were to be hijacked?

Tongo: I knew they would let the accused out.

Traverso: And the deceased?

Tongo: I didn't know where she was going to sit

VZ: Your knees were trembling which means you were scared, I believe.

Tongo: Correct

VZ: Yet, you engaged the child locks.

Tongo: Correct

VZ: That means the accused wouldn't be able to get out?

Tongo: Correct. But I knew they would do nothing to the accused person.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 4m4 minutes ago

VZ: Did you discuss with the accused that you would engage the child locks?

Tongo: No, I didn't.

VZ: Did you tell Col Barkhuizen and your attorney that you stopped to engage the child locks?

Tongo: It goes back to what I said initially, that some things are coming back & some things are not in my statement.
