PH took a warning statement from Qwabe.

PH: Mr. Qwabe was prepared to make a confession & I arranged for that to be taken by Col. Clark. Qwabe later made another statement to police in 2012.
After Qwabe was arrested, he made a confession 2 years later, made another stm in the form of a plea agreement

I do not understand this thing about documents. Had it all through OP trial too, with people turning up with statements etc that the court did not have copies of.

Tongo was arrested the following day.

PH: At that stage we had no evidence linking Mr. Tongo. So a decision was made to use MM as a 204 witness

PH: when Tongo appeared in court, he indicated he was willing to cooperate and the office of the DPP was called. I received a call from the accused. I explained that there have been certain developments & arrests have been made.

I informed the accused that I arrested the taxi driver. The accused was surprised. He asked "why the taxi driver"

I received a call from an attorney Tanya Lochner, representing the accused, asking if her client was implicated in any way.

The Monday when Qwabe & Tongo appeared, that attorney was present.

Later that day, Billy Gundelfinger (for SD) was appointed & made numerous calls to me & requested documents

I also diverted him to the DPP.

#DewaniTrial Tongo pleaded guilty on 7 Dec 2010. Then police obtain a warrant of arrest for the accused, then an extradition app filed

I was instructed by DPP to obtain a detailed statement from Tongo. Col. Barkhuizen took that statement.

We were instructed that Mr. Tongo's legal rep be present.

Second statement was taken from Tongo, regarding aspects not included in 1st statement. After Tongo's statement, applied for a warrant of arrest for the accused. That same day in January 2011, Anni's phone was sent to the UK, to obtain the content of the mobile phone.

Due to that, PH was able to obtain communication between the deceased and the accused. Emails from Anni to Shrien Dewani.
