Never, at this rate. The only strategy the defence has is discrediting every single witness! Worked in Dewani's trial, they're hoping it will work again!

I think he's trying to trip her up and it's not working.

  • #524
Judge Desai asked Combrink to sit down!

The thing is they're trying to discredit every witness, but I don't see how they're succeeding. The footprint evidence sounded pretty convincing to me, like it ruled out anyone else being in the house at the time. And Otto's evidence also sounds convincing, like there's no evidence of any stranger DNA in there.

I give them grudging credit for trying their best to get their client off the hook, but there's just too much against him. They can stretch it out all they like but he'd better enjoy his freedom while he still can.

Did he give her a test to check her competency?

  • #527
I cannot believe this. What an idiot he is showing himself to be.

Court is back in session.

How is your competency verified, Combrink asks Otto?
She says her training, mentorship had been done many years ago. She has been declared competent, Otto says. To confirm her proficiency, she undergoes one test a year, either internal (national) or external (international).

Combrink is going through a past proficiency test which Otto took.

He said her result in the test was wrong.

Otto at pains to explain to Combrink that her outcome was according to the SOPS and evidential value.

Adv Combrink presented a test to Otto, claims she made an error

:gaah:

Adv Combrink going in the defence saying if Otto was given a case like this Q in her test, she would have failed

Otto: I was following SOP, not for me to change it

Otto: is literally putting her hand up, halting Adv Combrink from further questioning her, she comes across firm

Adv Combrink says Otto is speaking utter nonsense, J Desai says he cannot speak to witness like that

This is getting surreal... are we Alice in Wonderland?!

Tut tut, Judge just criticized C for offensive language

  • #532
Otto says she's sick of it and won't accept it anymore! Bravo!!

I feel very sorry for her now, she's being broken down slowly but surely. :(

  • #533
Good that Otto is so feisty. C is a pain in the rectum.

Wouldn't you think Desai would be able to tell C that's enough, either make a point or stop it?

  • #535
I really don't think C knows what he is talking about.

If I can follow what she is saying why cannot he?

I've found it a bit annoying that they haven't had a camera on Desai when he is speaking today, so it's difficult to catch everything he's saying.

I think she will have a good cry afterwards, I know I would.

Oxford Dictionary says alphanumeric (as a noun) is a character that is a letter or a number.

I do know where he is coming from but this is a murder trial and this sort of argument, as I see it, is valueless. It is going nowhere.

At least we know how scared they are of the DNA results.
