Henri van Breda tried to commit suicide in jail.

A source says Henri was attacked by other awaiting trial prisoners and then tried to kill himself. No word on how he made this attempt yet. Same thing happened to #OscarPistorius before sentencing, question is it credible?

This is what is known as a Tiny Phone. One can see just how tiny it is in the female hand. Apparently these also have a voice changer on board!

Well this isn't making any sense because he was already in the hospital wing -

Henri was taken to the hospital wing of the prison suffering a 'small scratch', Andre van Breda said.

The convicted triple murderer's attorney, Lorinda van Niekerk, said she could not confirm Henri had been taken to an external hospital.

Yeah, and how ridiculous is the idea of anyone being "rushed to hospital" (according to the article) for "a small scratch" (according to his uncle.) Someone's telling porkies, aren't they Mister Uncle.

It's not entirely accurate that the suicide story is "nonsense". It's based on an actual injury Henri sustained, and he was taken to Karl Bremer hospital with a foot injury. I want to deal briefly w lawyer's response to this "fake" story: "Henri’s attorney, Lorinda van Niekerk, said that she had not been informed that her client has been admitted to an external hospital." To say she had not been informed isn't saying he wasn't admitted.

She claimed that a medical certificate was submitted to the Western Cape High Court...Henri was still being held in Pollsmoor’s hospital wing." There's a counter-narrative indicating that Henri wasn't given a certificate because his medical status wasn't confirmed.

Speaking to EWN, van Niekerk confirmed that when she [checked] up on Henri on Thursday morning, he was still in the prison’s hospital wing. >>>Again, it seems to be a matter of semantics. Other people saw Henri somewhere else. So why deny it?

My own interpretation. This is a very sensitive time prior to sentencing. If Henri had an argument and fought with inmates, it could count against him, as aggravation. If so, it might be better to make it sound like he inflicted self-harm, then deny it.

Yes Tortoise, it's just so isn't it.

And how about that Superman guy ripping the condom dispenser off the wall? That must have been impressive.

Something makes me think the condom dispenser part of the story is a lie to highlight the risks he faces in prison (of rape) before sentencing. I really don't think it would be that easy to remove a metal dispenser from a wall, at least not quickly enough to help anyone. They would all be doing it and attacking each other with metal dispensers. It might be true but it doesn't ring true.

Nowhere near as terrifying or horrible as being attacked by an axe wielding family member resulting in death. He doesn't know the meaning of the word 'terrifying'.

Van Breda told Botha that the attack was “a shocking ordeal” that came out of the blue.
This doesn’t even come close to the shocking ordeal he subjected Rudi, his parents and Marli to that came out of the blue in the middle of the night in their own home.

“Henri said his attackers knew who he was and he got the impression they were targeting him”.
His family knew who their attacker was too and it must have been absolutely incomprehensible to them that they were being targeted in the most grievous, heinous way.

Karma. His fellow prisoners have literally only scratched the surface. Maybe he’ll learn the true meaning of fear while he’s incarcerated. I’m sure this won’t be the only attack.

Never-ending story.

Claims by HvB’s lawyer of a prison attack against him have been denied by the department of correctional services (DCS), who are adamant that the claims are false.

Van Breda's lawyer Lorinda van Niekerk told News24 that he was attacked by five inmates while on his way to the hospital section of Pollsmoor Prison. Another inmate is believed to have intervened and protected the convicted axe murderer from his assailants.

"He was slightly injured, but he is being attended to by Pollsmoor nursing staff," she said.

However, DCS spokesperson Nxumalo described the claims as "fake" and that it was "highly unlikely" that Van Breda would have been attacked in the hospital section of the prison.

Van Niekerk had referred News24 to a Weekend Argus article, which she said provided further details on the alleged attack.
