Southwest Flight Attendant Tries to Boot Hooters Waitress From Plane Over Clothing

Maybe wearing clothes that reveal her figure a little bit make her feel good about herself, or maybe they are comfortable. I don't see anything overtly sexual about her clothing. Is she supposed to be walking around in baggy sweat shirts and sweat pants?

Let's also not forget that we as humans have sex and breed. I don't see anything wrong with sexualizing men or women. I personally think sex is a beautiful thing and I don't understand why here in America we have such a puritanical approach to it. Europeans seem to be more open and carefree with their sexuality and I think it's wonderful. America needs to lighten up.

I totally agree! Americans do need to lighten up! I believe Europeans do have a healthier attitude towards sex.

I remember wearing tiny miniskirts and halter tops when I was her age. I wasn't out for attention, but it was simply the style here at the time. No one, including my parents, ever questioned my morals because of the way I dressed.

I have no problem with my girls dressing however they decide today...it is their choice and no one has the right to ask them to change to fly on a plane. I would be suing SW Airlines, too! How dare they!

Lately, flight attendants have taken their roles a bit too far. Someone needs to ground them!

2. HOW tall is she and did she have an inside or an outside seat?
2.a. IF she is really really tall getting out of her seat to go to the powder room would give the middle seat person and aisle person, a close up and personal look at her (stuff).
3. In event of a CRASH, I personally would want more between my skin and flames.
4. I think pednurse whose encounter with the old lady in Macys, has a daughter that is a flight attendant on SWA.
5. She really had what appeared to be LONG Legs, however, wearing a SHORT skirt can fool the eye into thinking that she is TALLER than reality reveals.
6. She is pretty. That can be a problem for OTHER people to deal with who ain't so purty. I know cuz I was once pretty. Hmmm.

For safety, I say cover up yer skin with non synthetic fabrics, in case of FIRE etc.

Hi Crypto...this just doesn't bother me. I don't mind the airlines telling me what and how much to carry, it is a necessary evil IMO.
Regarding clothing, it really just comes down to each of our own threshholds for offensive. Since it would be impossible for us to agree, the airline reserves the right to make their own determination. That determination may depend on who is on duty that day.
Like in the drunk analogy. What might be acceptable drunkeness to you, may not be to me and so the airline makes their own determination and will refuse boarding to someone they feel is drunk.

If the personnel considered her outfit lewd..that is that. Personally, I don't think we have seen how she wore it initially. But that is of course my opinion.

I thought as you did until a US Air flight about a month ago. I was sent scurrying down the concourse with a ticket the agent knew would not let me board the plane and was about 5 feet toward the plane from the planeside ticket agent when she grabbed my clothes and pulled me out of line with enough force to have hurt someone older. She was very rude and abusive. Why should she be allowed to assault someone under the eye of the airport police? If you or I did that to someone innocent in a police station, we’d be liable for assault charges. Fun little game they are playing, eh?

Incidentally, the same moron ticket agent gave another passenger a ticket under the wrong name, earning him 30 minutes locked in a glass room being interrogated for all to see.

As far as being a necessary evil, I agree with you to some extent; but to empower these agents to grope, assault, and humiliate passengers is going too far. Every six months or so, the few but obvious creeps in the airline industry seem to get a little bolder. Retrospectively, under the aegis of doing our part to counter terror, when we didn’t call them down for obviously groping women in public as this enhanced security first started, we got behind the eight ball on exercising our guarantees of personal freedom. All these people need psychological testing and periodic re-evaluation for this type of hostile behavior.

I am so sick of girls wearing such revealing clothes and you're not supposed to say anything? Someone asked where to find such girls - follow me, I have a couple of neighbors who dress this way, a friend's daughter, and it seems as though every time I leave my house, there's at least one, if not several others. If they dressed like this girl though, it would be a step up. I'm sick of seeing these girls' cleavage and half their breasts! More than that, I hate my kids and my husband seeing this! Luckily, my husband doesn't show any interest, he thinks it's tacky. Besides, he knows I'll show him all that and more behind closed doors! But, I don't want my son or my daughters thinking this is okay. The ones I speak of that we know are very nice girls - one is 17, the other is 25ish, and the other just turned 40. How do you politely say, "Could you cover up your breasts in front of my family?" It seems these people, like this girl, are allowed to wear whatever and we just have to take it. I find it somewhat refreshing that people are willing to call out others on their lack of dressing decent. Except in this case, just from the picture I saw, she's covered more than the ones in which I speak - breast wise, anyway.

As for Americans need to lighten up - Please! How about others need to cover up. I've had a great body at times and I'm not far from obtaining it again, yet I've always managed to cover up the important parts! Mainly out of respect for myself, but also out of respect of others, their kids and their husbands, including my own family.

Ok... now... in your OWN home, you might be able to say something... well, I think that you'd probably be well within your means... but out in public... such as an airplane or airport... I'd stick to the old "mind your own beeswax!" Ya know? I thought she was pretty well covered too.. much more covered than girls running around in my own neighborhood. :0) And no, I'm not saying I'd let my own daughter run around dressed in a micro mini - but I wouldn't go up to a complete stranger and comment on their dress either. I guess I am just not that crass. I'd be afraid to get beat up.

And even if I were to see something blatantly inappropriate re: exposure, I probably wouldn't take it into my own hands... but I would report it to authorities (actually, I have. If you want the story, I guess I could go into it, but it is TOTALLY off topic and the cop was in the parking lot over so it worked out well! And lets just say I don't eat at IHOP anymore and you probably shouldn't either. LOL).

JBean -- to answer you question, I don't think I would be offended if a heavy person wore the outfit either.
I might think "gross" to both if I see their bodies and find it unacceptable but it wouldn't offend me because I choose not to let it offend me. I might not dress the same way as they do or even agree with their choice of clothing, but it's their business and it wouldn't offend me in such a manner that I felt the need to complain or say something.

Truthfully, I've seen some weird outfits on people when I travel, but seriously what annoy me the most is when a person around me is incessantly clearing their throat or coughing, or if a baby is screaming.
Now, I realize that people can't help if their baby cries and people also can't help if they are sick. I let those things annoy me, and I shouldn't ... but on a long flight, I can get restless and the noises irritate me.

I once woke up on a plane with the guy next to me HOLDING MY HAND!! THAT was shocking, scary and GROSS!!
I talked ot him a bit before I feel asleep but I don't know WHAT gave him the thought that I was interested in him or that he could hold my hand.

Those things offend me more than how people dress, even if I myself do not care for a person's attire.

I admit, I might think to myself ... wow, that's exposing a bit much, but I wouldn't get all pissed off over it, or complain about it. I would just look away.

Screaming kids and babies do not bother me one tiny bit. I have never been a position to be offended by anyone's clothing either.

I think you're right: Employees' behavior is an extension of their corporate culture. My plug is in for Delta. I've not had an incident like this in thirty years of flying with them. Glad to know American and United have treated you well. I vote with my wallet and no more US Air for me. I think this was such outrageous behavior that I've set up a meeting with the manager here and if that doesn't work I'll go on up the ladder next time I'm in Charlotte.

That is just the thing Jbean the airline did not have this policy.
On the same airline on the flight home she wore the same outfit and the stewardess complimented her!!
If they want a dress code FINE but they need to apply it equally and have it known before someone buys a ticket.
