Southwest Flight Attendant Tries to Boot Hooters Waitress From Plane Over Clothing

  • #141
That is just the thing Jbean the airline did not have this policy.
On the same airline on the flight home she wore the same outfit and the stewardess complimented her!!
If they want a dress code FINE but they need to apply it equally and have it known before someone buys a ticket.

CyberLaw I am sorry but you neglected to note that the girl is also a college student .. does this not say anything about her personality?

I fail to see how a miniskirt ruins the comfort of others..
Are all these others prudes???
They do have this policy and I posted a link earlier with their printed policy that we are bound to when we buy a ticket.
my take on that again:
>>Regarding clothing, it really just comes down to each of our own threshholds for offensive. Since it would be impossible for us to agree, the airline reserves the right to make their own determination. That determination may depend on who is on duty that day.
Like in the drunk analogy. What might be acceptable drunkeness to you, may not be to me and so the airline makes their own determination and will refuse boarding to someone they feel is drunk<<

ETA: But I would bet you twenty bucks that when she wore the outfit on the second flight, she did not wear it the way she intially wore it on the first flight. IF she did wear it the same way she would be purty stupid and she couldn;t have been humiliated THAT much.

She's full of it IMO.

Esp the part about covering skin, in light of what PrayersForMaura had happen to her! Would some surgical gloves or a jar of GermX (can we board with that this week??) for flying be be going too far??

Crypto6
no more than 3 ozs of germ-ex lol.

Oh dear, I certainly didn't mean I would buy the cocktaill on the plane. I'd take his wallet and go wherever I darn well pleased.:D

lmao!!

I prefer to fly American, then Delta or United.
I dislike the whole cattle call thing about southwest!!

  • #145
no more than 3 ozs of germ-ex lol.

That should about cover my exposed skin, unless I'm in a miniskirt (I'm a guy and the image has me laughing then signing off )......

I guess the airline could have a dress code policy, but what would they say:

Dress Code Policy:

#16 - wearing skirts short enough to reveal your panties while in a sitting position is not acceptable.

It's a bit silly isn't it? In fact the policy list would have to be quite lengthy to cover everything. It all comes down to common sense, whether it be lady wearing a too short shirt to reveal panties, or a man wearing his slacks so low you can see his butt crack.

It's come down to this,if people don't know how to dress properly while in public, than they have the problem, and they have to deal with it.

BTW,I always fly first class on Northwest and have never had a problem with the flight attendents. Can't speak for coach though.

Good gravy, I took a nap and this thread grew 3 pages!!!

I think the pilot gets the final vote doesn't he? DID they bring him outta the cockpit fer a look? Winky wink?

THE girl did ask fer a blanket, from the stewedress. The stewedress gave her one, (a blanket that is) and the girl covered herself up.

Moral of the story, IF your clothing is skimpy, bring yer own blanket.

There was a play once, called, "Much Ado About Nuthin'".

Some people are offended IF the other person is merely breathing.:waitasec:

Buzz..who is winking at you!?
JBeanya, that's what us guys used to say if we saw a girl's crotch. We also used to say, "it"/she took my picture.

There is an old saying 'Don't where the uniform if you don't want someone to expect you to do the job.' As I once explained to my nieces, when you see a person in a Police Officer's uniform you assume he is a cop. When you see a woman with her goodies showing you assume she advertising the merchandise that is available. I think young ladies need to be taught modesty. If you have it showing, someone is gonna look.
Bravo!! I totally agree!!

Sure, you have the right to dress however you like, and other people have the right to react to your choice of dress however they like, and to form opinions of you based on your choice of dress.

imo

There are many parents that are annoyed that movies are shown that may not be suitable for children on board. They either contain scenes of "implied sexuality and or violence. Many parents and other groups have commplained. But the airlines are going with the times and the "desires" of the adults.

So in an a vague analogy, don't watch the movie. Oh yeah, If forgot, you can't change the channel, leave the plane or "choose" not to watch the movie as again you are in the air.

Lets look at the fact first and foremost at what "Hooters is all about" her "choice" of employment where "she is expected" to display her "wares" and "depend on her "sexuality" for tips and "cater" to men.

It is not so much her choice of dress, it is the conditions upon which others are subjected to her dress.

A girl watlking down the street in a short dress or skirt, you may be for 5-10 seconds and then shake your head. But being held "captive" as in her own personal audience on a plane with families and children.

I do not think she is that bright, gee, do you think she depends on her body and looks to get by. You can "profile" a person from their actions' or lack thereof and have a "fairly" good idea of other personality traits.

People who do not depends on their "sexuality" or bodies(except of course "entertainers")learn to develop more and better "quality" character traits.

I agree also, you are a "paying" guest on an airline, but unless your name is on the side of the airline and it is your own private plane, you abide by the rules of the airline.

From the Smoking Gun.

Female employees are required to sign that they "acknowledge and affirm" the following:
  1. My job duties require I wear the designated Hooters Girl uniform.
  2. My job duties require that I interact with and entertain the customers.
  3. The Hooters concept is based on female sex appeal and the work environment is one in which joking and sexual innuendo based on female sex appeal is commonplace.
  4. I do not find my job duties, uniform requirements, or work environment to be offensive, intimidating, hostile, or unwelcome.
So I guess this girl was SO shocked that the "Hooters" work contract does not duplicate real life and people may be offended by the "Hooters" uniform(or the "equal" thereof") on a plane.

Would you take your kids to Hooters.....by the way, my answer to that is No.

Do those of you that are fine with her clothing feel ok about it because she looks good in them? or basically because she has the "right" to dress how she pleases?
IOW, if she was 200 pounds overweight would you all feel exactly the same way about protecting her "right" to be scantily clad on an airplane if she wore this exact same outfit?

Interesting question.

Firstly, to ME, she isn't what I would call "scantily clad." Not one bit.

If a 200 lb woman wore the same thing, I would have the same opinion. She wouldn't look good to me, but I have no right infringing on her rights to wear whatever she wants.

Hi JBean, I feel exactly the same as eleven. :p

Let's not forget that the girl's top was so low that you could see her cleavage when she was getting on. I wonder how much? She did agree to pull her top up. She's got a mini skirt on to begin with and high heels to make it even shorter.
Unless she had an aisle seat, that must have been a sight as she had to crawl across other(s) to get to her seat. We all know how unladylike that goes when trying to get in or out.

I'm kind of suspect about this girl's motives being that this happened two months ago. She said she wants the airline to admit they were wrong. I'm gonna agree with Buzz and say it's now for her 15 min of fame.

OH MY! Cleavage!! THE HORROR! LOL, seriously....ALL women have cleavage! It's just cleavage. Her 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 weren't hanging out. I personally see nothing wrong with having some cleavage show--even though I usually make sure my cleavage is covered. But that doesn't mean that I think everyone else should ascribe to the same thought process.

I'd be willing to bet that the male flight attendant who tried to boot her off the plane secretly thought she was a major hottie, and knew that was probably the only way he would get any interaction with her! Men are men....they ALL look. Married or not. It's in their blood. If they say they don't , they're lying, IMO!

Interesting. So she can handle sexual jokes and innuendo in the work place, but a male flight attendant who takes her aside and tells her that her outfit is too revealing is so embarrassing that she cries for the whole flight and calls her mom when she lands?

Please.

And the answer to this long running joke/argument at my house is...NO! You don't take the kids to Hooters. Not even for the wings.

Since none of us saw the way she as dressed when the SWA fkight attendant corraled her, we can't have an honest opinion on the way she was dressed. I can easily imagine her outfit was a lot more risque than what we have seen on TV. It wouldn't take much of an adjustment to put her in the 🤬🤬🤬 rated dress category. If she wants to show off her goods, she should get a job at Hooter's where more revealing outfits are promoted. Oh wait, she already works at Hooter's.

and she was so upset, that she cried during the whole flight--please give me a break; she's doing it all for the cameras, and they put her on the Today show. Just shows you how desperate the media is for any story that sells, and sex always sells. Poor little miss innocent.

My sons are 21 & 19 and have never been to Hooters, even though there is one 5 minutes from my home. They both think it's disgusting. If they were little boys...hell no way would I take them there.
