Southwest Flight Attendant Tries to Boot Hooters Waitress From Plane Over Clothing

I love it how she says she's a member of the "mile high club". Whatever... I agree, what do her grandparents think of THAT!!!!!
and yes, I think she has been airbrushed to death! She looked REALLY lizardy when this happened, she doesn't look all leather-y in the teaser photo I saw on the website (yes, I had to go look, curiosity killed the cat!). and how tacky is the "legs in the air" headline? LOL!!!

I saw a LOT of posts commenting on the girls morals, her parent's and even her possible future employment. I think my comments were as ON Topic as THOSE comments were. The TOPIC is the situation and how it was handled by all parties. My comments were that lots of people seem to think her choice to pose in Playboy makes her original complaint less valid, her "sleazy" and disappointing to her family - which is their opinion. I don't agree with their opinion, or their views about Playboy and what posing nude might signify as to someone's morals, their future or their family. I merely explained my thesis for believing the way I do AND that I am not in agreement. At no point did I attack anyone - I just disagreed with their opinion.

The original debate was whether she should have been removed from an airplane based on her attire being offensive. The girl did NOT ask to be removed from a flight based on her attire. And all she did was use that circumstance she had NO CONTROL OVER to HER benefit (at least as far as she is concerned). SO WHAT if it isn't what others would have done....it didn't happen to other people, it happened to THIS GIRL and bravo to her speaking up AND for turning what many would have seen as lemons into lemonade! That some people don't LIKE her brand of lemonade is a matter of personal taste.

Would I want MY daughter in Playboy - no - would I forbid her from it or be disappointed in her if she appeared or otherwise "punish" her for doing it? Nope. Would I be less proud of her or think less of her? No. It's just a magazine and it's just nudity - and Playboy doesn't show any more than art standing and hanging in the Louvre. The ACT of appearing in Playboy has no effect on the morals, intelligence, or goodness of the woman... or her parents. She is the same woman whether she has appeared in Playboy or not. Playboy doesn't make her a better or worse human being. I guess I don't see how the actions of my ADULT children reflect on ME. At some point you just set them free and trust that the things you taught them, the important, RIGHT things stick. I don't think those important, RIGHT things change by appearing naked in Playboy. I would hope my daughter would be too SMART and CONFIDENT to pose in Playboy but it's her choice and if she did appear, I would be proud to call her MINE. If she is proud, I would be proud of her. It isn't CRIMINAL and it hurts no-one - no reason to NOT be supportive.

Flowerchild, I am getting the feeling that this topic must hit home for you in one way or another. So if have upset you I am sorry. I only meant to ask you to discuss Ebbert and not speak ill of other posters. You have done that in this post and I appreciate it.

As far as turning lemons into lemonade, this girl is a manipulative ding dong IMO. If I were her and my father showed the slightest bit of discomfort that I would appear in Playboy, that would have been enough for me to have turned it down. I find her to be self centered, self indulgent and no role model for young ladies. JMHO of course.

My children have done many things that I have not been proud of. Do I love them? of course. Am I proud of some of their behaviors? Not a chance.

I don't think any of this is the end of the world. I am not shocked.I am not going to lose sleep over it. I won't even remember her in a couple hours. But it has been a lively topic and that is always good! Thank you Flowerchild for your viewpoint.

As far as comparing Playboy to the paintings in the Louvre, you're on your own there.

Well, with fake 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 that big, I guess it doesn't matter that her face is mediocre at best.

She used something silly to her advantage and made almost six figures for it. Good for her. Too bad she probably won't use it for something worthwhile now.

Maybe she can do something about that barney rubble yellow hair.

...This woman really must have been so embarrassed by all the attention to her body on the airplane.Wasn't that her chief complaint? What a manipulative dingaling.

Her parents must be so proud.
Uninvited attention is different than invited attention - miles apart.

I also don't see how making lemonade from lemons invalidates her original complaint, changes a thing. Nor do I see anything wrong with posing for Playboy - let alone something to suggest her parents should be ashamed of her.

I think she looks like a HO HO HO:cool:

Hi details. Good point about invited vs uninvited attention.
Since you quoted me i will reply that I don't think I ever used the word shame or ashamed, nor did i imply it. Being proud and being ashamed are not the only options.
Posing for Playboy is of course a personal decision.

I might have heard a tone (hard to tell how words are spoken, when reading them) that wasn't there. "Her parents must be so proud" sounded to me like it was spoken in that sarcastic tone that indicates you mean the precise opposite of what you said, "George Carlin is so handsome", "I love working all hours of the day and night for minimum wage", etc.

Sorry about any misinterpretation there. I can't say I'd be proud of my daughter for posing in playboy alone - but for getting a bunch of money out of a bad situation (being kicked off a plane), for doing nothing that hurt anyone - I'd consider that smart.

Not me. I would never be proud that my child chose to file a frivilous lawsuit in our overly litigious society over something so incredibly stupid.

You might say the airlines can afford it, but who do you think will really pay for that settlement? The flight attendant who did it? Um, no. The CEO? I doubt it.

Someone who acted all pitiful because she was so embarrassed (but then went on national TV to talk about it) sure has changed her tune. She's humiliated b/c someone told her that her outfit was too revealing, but she has no shame about taking her clothes off for the world?

As for comparing Playboy to the art in the Louvre...I don't see the similarities. I know the Venus de Milo has no arms, but I don't think the woman who posed for it had one finger in her mouth and the other in her :silenced:

No problem. I see what you meant, but I don't see shame here at all. I see you understand what I mean by your last sentence regarding your daughter.ETA: Meaning you wouldn't be proud of her but you certainly wouldn't be ashamed.
But i do disagree about the wisdom involved in posing for Playboy for cash. I would sure hate my kids to stumble across that about now if I did that at 23 lol!!

Dang, I need to remember that when I am given lemons in life, I need to turn them into lemonade, and make money off of the deal. That's either a lot to learn, or else, a lot to unlearn.

I didn't grow up with, it's all about the money, but I would imagine that there are some that do.

Hell, no wonder I haven't ever gotten rich.

You said a mouthful there Buzz.
Great post.

angelmom - yes - because of the difference between choosing to take her clothes off, and being humiliated when she did not choose to do so. Voluntary versus involuntary - that's the difference.

I'd never say the airlines can afford it - to me, it's about right or wrong - I hate that idea that it's OK to sue a company because they can afford it. But - unless her attire was indecent (as in, illegally revealling) and unless the airline said they had a dress code - it was wrong for her to be kicked off the plane.

And yes, you can be embarassed, and still go on to talk about it. Rape victims do it all the time, with far greater embarassment.

JBean, I never posed - but I can't see being embarassed if I did - they might well be, but I wouldn't. It's just a body, and the money can make a big difference - school, a house, so many different ways it can improve your life. I'd consider that her choice, but a wise choice. Others might have different scales, and that's their choice, but if you don't have an issue with it, and you've got a one time opportunity to get a ridiculous quantity of money for doing nothing but some pictures - why not?

They raised prices since then so we are all paying for the lawsuit if she received any money. We are always the fall guys.

It's not all about the money - but unless you're rich already, you know there are choices you cannot make, things you cannot do, that money can change. From things like going back to school, to hiring a tutor for your child to living in a better neighborhood where you are less likely to be a victim of crime, to taking care of your mom when she gets old, to having a vacation, to buying a car that doesn't break down every month, or just paying off credit cards.

Money isn't dirty - it's just a medium of exchange.
