Jay Slater's post-mortem and funeral will feature in a new Channel 4 documentary that will look into conspiracy theories surrounding the case.

The Disappearance Of Jay Slater will follow the story of the 19-year-old who vanished in Tenerife last June - only to be found dead a month later at the bottom of a ravine on the Spanish party island.

The film, which has been made in collaboration with Mr Slater's family, will include exclusive access to his post-mortem and funeral.

is also set to look at the conspiracy theories that stemmed from the story, the online abuse that the family still receive and the media coverage of the case.

Rita Daniels, Channel 4 commissioning editor, said: 'The story of Jay Slater captured the nation last summer with a fervour and intensity fuelled by armchair detectives and internet culture.

'We are so glad to be working with Anna on a sensitively handled exploration of the family's experience, and understanding the impact of being in the middle of a social media storm, amplified by grief.

'The film holds a light up to our current society and is exactly the story that is a necessity for Channel 4 to tell.'
Well, that's not going to be biased then, is it? I hope no-one is thinking they're going to learn anything from it :-(

JMO, obviously

exactly...if there wasn't so many lies in the 1st place then there wouldn't have been all the detective work

Jay Slater, a young Brit abroad for the first time making bad decisions. Very sad he paid the ultimate price. I don't think we have been told the whole story, I would like to know about the watch that was allegedly stolen and if Jay and his mates were dealing while on holiday. I don't know what the Inquest said but reading the story in the Guardian today it seems that the attitude is 'Least said soonest mended.'

I do admire Debbie for sticking with it and wanting the full story no matter if that story did reveal her sons drug taking and antics . I'm still on the fence regarding if it was an accident in the true sense of the word .

According to the article B Hodgson didn't want to give evidence and rocky could not be found . Both were a no show at the inquest .

As a lot of rumour has transpired to be true and hodges was the one who called quassim to say jay was missing so obviously both must have known one another or prehaps access to drugs to swap numbers on holiday ? So it led me to remember a clip on SM

Does anyone remember the sm clip of the car parked on the road that showed the two or three men and the boot open . With the no shows today I had wondered about this prehaps having some truth too

The judge at the inquest said that he examined the facts and did not speculate on the events that led to the death of Jay Slater. If you read back over the facts that were given, they were so brief and did not attempt to address issues that were being discussed that they invited conjecture. For example, there were allegations that a watch had been stolen, but the Spanish police did not comment if a watch had been found with the body. This fuelled speculation and has still not been answered in the media. One wonders why?

Imo because said watch has not been found (or logged) with his body. Somebody else has the watch and they don't want anyone to know who! All completely speculation

Presumably because the point of the inquest is to decide on the actual fact of the death - that is, accident or foul play at the time of death. Anything else is up to the police to disclose and it seems the police are quite happy to accept the 'accident' outcome and not bother (and I use those words advisedly but JMOO) not bother with anything further. Inquest says no-one was to blame for the death at the point of its happening so they have the perfect escape clause. I find it maddening - but maybe it's just idle curiosity on my part that wants more.

Jay's family hope to finally put the conspiracy theories to bed by speaking out ahead of a Candour Productions documentary for Channel 4 - The Disappearance of Jay Slater - which airs on Sunday, September 28 at 9pm.

Ms Duncan, together with Jay’s father, Warren, 59, and older brother, Zak, 25, gave TV producers unprecedented access to Jay’s story by sharing highly personal home footage, as well as coverage from inside Jay’s funeral.

Cameras were even allowed into his post-mortem.

Warren hopes that by showing the t-shirt and trainers Jay wore the night he died, it will put an end to the cruel conspiracy theories that their son is still alive.

Warren knows more....they take the attention of the fact he sent messages of him with knives in his pants talking about a stolen watch... Then he says I can't go back there ... And I don't think I am gonna make it ... Definitely seems off if you ask me
