Pixies you do a lot of volunteer work. Abused women shelters and also this. I admire people of give of their time this way.Oh Dena, I have seen this over and over again. There us to be a Children's World daycare in Nashville, and while in school I worked there and it was terrible. One little boy was mute yet perfectly "Average" in everyway, yet the director kept pulling him out of my room 3-4y/0 and putting him with the younger students. He would cry and cry to stay with his friends yet the Director told me not to tell the parents. This kid was made fun of for being mute and for being in the baby class. Can you imagine the trauma?
I, of course, told the Dad and the boy was pulled from the daycare.
People would never ever leave their kids at daycare if they knew how some of the people really are there. This daycare closed down years ago because of bad management and a child was molested by a male teacher several years later.
I am not bashing all daycare centers but the ones I visit (for volunteer reasons) and the one I have actually worked in while in college hire only those with little education, (which is OK, as long as you love kids) and have no other work options besides fast food. The pay is min. wage with no benefits. The one I worked in, the teachers were married to men in prison and acted just plain ghetto around the kids. It was a bad place for anyone let alone a child.
You are such a pleasant poster Pal. Always a ray of sunshine.Dr. Phil is a dirtbag hack who likes to exploit people's problems. This guy wrote a diet book? Are you kidding me? Has he looked in the mirror?

I don't care who he is as long as he gets the story out and gets the point across that this is not right. That teacher should be helping that child( and EVERY child she works with) not harming himDr. Phil is a dirtbag hack who likes to exploit people's problems. I thought I read in this thread that she resigned? if I am wrong I'm sorry.I hadn't heard that she quit. Can you link to the article? I'd like to read it.
It doesn't take a bloated, self-righteous hick to tell me that singling out a child in class is wrong.
If Dr. Phil's audience doesn't get that now, and that little lightbulb in their otherwise empty heads suddenly flickers on after he says something COMPLETELY obvious then God help this country. God help us all.

ETA I was wrong .. she was given another job out of the class but did not quit. ugh
I am going to be the next Joe Francis. My series will be called "Teachers Gone Wild". Send your audio and video/digital tapes to me. Let's rid the world of these awful people now!
so far from what i have read in the reports it was the principal that noticed the signs and suggested testing.what i have been wondering is if the teacher was instrumental in having him diagnosed for the illness.
how could she not have been involved with that as she was with him each day all year.
