I believe he said she killed Caylee. So that's a factual statement that Casey could say is false. Then he could say "truth is a defense" and proceed to prove it was true. We can always hope...

I got my book tonight. I was so anxious...I couldn't wait to buy it. I got the last copy Target had on the shelf. Now that I have it, I am a nervous wreck...it feels like I am about to open a partially healed wound.... Strange feeling that I didn't anticipate until after I had the book in my hands. Off to muster the courage and get started.... I hope it doesn't hurt tooooooo bad.

I just needed a good long break after the NOT GUILTY verdict.. I can barely bring myself to read the updates some days. I am afraid reading his book will fire me up again. I ate, drank, breathed and dreamed of this case for three years....and am still in disbelief. It will be a bittersweet read...hoping for a piece of closure with it.

I used to feel that way. But I have since decided that everything happens for a reason. I think that FCA is in a He!! that is much worse than the one she would have been if she were incarcerated. She is alone, ignored, reviled, and poor. Just the way she deserves to live out the rest of her pathetic existence. imoo

I don't believe FCA loved Caylee or anyone else besides herself - she is the empty shell CA was talking about - she can only love her self..the rest of her is empty - she just isn't capable of it.

It reverberates in my mind, those PROPHETIC words uttered by Shirley Plesea - That FCA hated CA more than she loved Caylee. And now I'll perhaps correct, that FCA hated CA more than any feelings above which she had for Cayleee - and - that CA had more feelings for FCA than Caylee's angel. I'm CHOKING on this, what I think is fact!

My guess would be that the DT were the first to get copies of it, GA & CA had a nice afternoon reading it by the pool and OCA snarled as she threw it on the coffee table without even opening it.

Baez was very quick to say he regrets Jeff Ashton's personal attack and stated that "many of the accusations" were not true. (Which begs the question - which ones are he admitting to?)

And Lippman said "his clients" would correct any untrue statements - so I guess that means they were just starting to read it.

But c'mon - how could they stay away? They wouldn't be able to stand not reading it.

Well. I have not read this whole thread, nor have I read the book, but from what you all have posted I must say it almost seems like JA is hoping to get sued for defamation by Casey. Then, in his defense, he can prove by preponderance of the evidence that she killed Caylee (truth is a defense in a defamation case).

I bet he would say "bring it"...

Just wanted to thank everyone for the updates. I haven't been able to get the book yet or watch the interviews, because God blessed me with my 3rd (and final!) sweet little girl on November 14th. So I appreciate everyone here posting about the book and I can't wait to get my own copy, hopefully for Christmas. I'm still on page 10 of this thread, and this is a great thing to read while I'm in recovery from my surgery. Thanks again to you all!

Stripping everything else away,there are 2 bottom-line things JA thought would and should be most persuasive to the jury. One was the duct tape he absolutely equated with 1st degree murder, period, enough said.

The second thing was OCA's lies. His chief point wasn't about the sheer quantity of OCA lies, or about how bizarre they were, or any other particular about the lies individually.

What he says is that he thought the jury couldn't miss the importance of the PATTERN in OCA's lies, that OCA took lies to the "end of the hall," before pivoting and going on with a new set of lies.

Thus, in chapter 8 (The 31 days), he matches up, day by day, OCA's actions with the lies she is telling, and the pattern of the lies she is telling. He sees 2 significant mutations in the pattern.

For the jury to grasp the significance of the patterns of Casey's lies, they would have to have been:
1) interested
2) thoughtful
3) curious
4) inquisitive
5) logical
6) able to think of something other than movies, restaurants, outings, swimming pools

In other words, they would have had to work their brains, to be able to reason, and actually care about what was being presented. Websleuths they are not and we know that from their post-trials comments..."there wasn't enough evidence", "they never told us how she died". Never mind the child was dead and not reported so for many months, and that the mother was the one who was telling all the lies from the get-go. Those jurors didn't have the capacity to add up the facts. Instead, they added two plus two and came out with zero!!

There was no way they would look at Casey's lying patterns and realize something was amiss. They didn't care. That group didn't read the newspapers, watch the news, or care one iota about current and world events. They cared about what happened within their personal spaces and nothing more.

Give me food, entertain me, and pay me for letting you do it. I can't be bothered about some dead child. I can't judge anyone.

Thanks for this post.. you are exactly right about the jury! FCA and the DT had the best luck ever when this group was selected. Makes me wonder if this phenomena happens more often than we think with juries. I'm sure it being so high profile didn't help at all in jury selection.. Ashton mentions this in the book . They ended up with a bland uninvolved jury by process of elimination. .

Wonder what they would have done if she wasn't young,white, petite, from a middle class background? Would they just make up their mind in the other direction and not listen to any other evidence?

If it helps in any way, I read it cover to cover and it gave me a strange feeling of peace and closure.

BBM- but wouldn't that have meant that Caylee was in the car for over a week? JA said that it was determined that Caylee was in the trunk from 1-3 days and that most likely she was discarded around the time of the shovel incident. Did he say otherwise in the book?

I am going back into my highlighted notes on my NOOK but haven't found it yet....

JA does not gives specific dates BUT he does mention experts say the body decomposed within 2-4 weeks and that the from the evidence the body decomposed in the car..

Going with the 2 week, Casey drove around with Caylee in the trunk until June 24-27th and dumped her in the swamp.

I use June 24th to the 27th because OCA was adamant not to let George go into the trunk and get something.
Then she started texting Amy about the smell....
by June 27th the car was abandoned and her communication with Cindy went from daily to not answering texts and phone calls and comes up with her new story about working this out with Jeff Hopkins in Jacksonville

The above is speculation...and I believe we have sleuthed out if Casey drove around with Caylee in the trunk for 9-11 days before dumping her.

But life gets in the way... finally got a job - actually, 3 of them - and have had little time to do much else... and of course, I was completely disgusted with the verdict, and heartbroken.

But I'll try to spend a little time here.... I got Jeff's book of course, but haven't had time to get more than a couple chapters read so far.
