State rests rebuttal case- thread #164

Someone will correct me in I'm wrong but I believe she attached the phone to the engine block of her grandfather's truck since he no longer drove. It was well hidden and only found two years later (aunt) when selling the truck.

Wow...I missed that. Hopefully that information will be brought forward. Tht would be damning for the jury to hear.

If ever a person deserved the DP it would be JA. And I am not pro DP.

I loved the question to Flores about whether or not there was anything stored in the attic! Someone on there is really thinking things through!

moo

And all the Christmas decorations that she was helping him put up there and the "angel" he gave her (not) that she "forgot" and had to come back and get, when she "supposingly" caught him ..... Well nothing was in that attic!!!!!
Everything that comes out of her mouth a lie. EVERYTHING. And then she insists on giving details, which are more lies. I hope JM remembers the empty attic !!!

Exactly! This jury is so thorough and thinking of everything and getting all the info they need for deliberations. I loved the attic questions. Means: I don't believe the pedophile story...

Also means that one juror doesn't believe anything JA says.

Putting Christmas things in the attic?

Like the artificial foliage behind which was -- SURPRISE!!!

I trust that's not "de-edifying" in any "sorta contemporaneous... chaotic pattern that paper falls."

Her "artwork" is truly telling! JA exhibits her pathological "mirroring" skills that she does everyday in the same way that she does her "artwork". She copies.

Big fat copy cat! (as my nephew would say).
You would think as smart as she is she would have studied up and knew not to do that!

If you need to see JM in action, here he is at a clemency hearing for Robert Towery. He has so much passion and the Towery case seems so much like JA's- he "had" PTSD also.
JM starts at about 20.53:

Towery was executed- ran out of appeals, but took a long time.

There are not enough 'thanks' for this video! Seeing a Martinez summation is truly awesome - and this crime (MOO) was not as despicable.

Highly recommend you watch this. It include not remembering the crime, PTSD and Abuse. Well done, Mr. Martinez!!

That facebook page makes me think Jodi knows she's about to be found guilty. She's already started the campaign to save her life.

In Donovan's interview on 'Along came Jodi' Donavan says they are preparing for the fact she will be in jail, they just don't know how long. It's at about 06:10 on this

Bring on verdict and sentencing days!

On Wed. Will run all day. The judge said will end after 5pm.
And ending after 5 PM will only be a result of the DT's attempt to drag out the trial with endless non-relevant questions for the surrebuttal witness and constant sidebars when JM crosses ... I really hope JSS keeps the DT in check this time.

I trust that's not "de-edifying" in any "sorta contemporaneous... chaotic pattern that paper falls."

Every time someone quotes "de-edifying" i literally

IMO friend and I shook our heads every time she use a "big" word incorrectly!

This is as good a time as any to introduce this major lurker to you, the good people of WS. Thank you for the hours of informative, often enlightening and lively commentary, on the general thread, and the more specialized ones. Really good stuff, very nice people. And a well moderated board, free of garbage.

Anywho - while I'm an avid reader and viewer of fictional mysteries, thrillers and court room drama, this is the first time I pay attention to a real life case. For two main reasons:

  1. Travis - While I find Arias to be an average, cunning yet not so smart, type of stalker/killer/loser, the notion that a bright, innocent, full of life young man, the age of my son, could be taken in, then mercilessly slaughtered by this woman, really concerns me. Like many others here, I keep thinking of my own son, and getting nauseated every time. Horrified.
  2. Juan Martinez - I'm in awe of this man, his passion, his excellent mind and professional determination to see to it that the ridiculous self-defense claim is thoroughly debunked, and that this horrible killer is punished to the full extent of the law. This prosecutor speaks for me, and countless mothers of young men I'm sure. No Ma'am No, you will not tarnish Travis's memory, after butchering him. No, you will not get away with premeditated murder. Nope, ain't happening. This will not stand, no way, no how. Thanks to Juan Martinez, this Jury has your number, and how.

Finally, let me just say, I'm a lifelong opponent of the death penalty, of the "don't kill nobody on my behalf, not with my hard earned tax dollars, let's not be killers too" persuasion.

On this one though, while I'd be satisfied with Life Without Possibility of Parole, the Death Penalty won't upset me. Why, do you ask? The lies, people, the lying to the face of the Jury. That's the worse kind of aggravating factor, to me. Seriously. How do you sit there, all sworn in and all, and tell us such disgusting boldfaced lie, after lie, after lie.

I want to smack the obnoxious killer chick (and her lawyer sidekick, Lord Have Mercy) a few times, and say: Girl, take a few hundred seats already, with that nasty, gleeful, yes gleeful, murdering attitude of yours. You're on trial for Aggravated, Premeditated Murder Numero Uno, you killer you. How dare you continue to lie to us all. Who do you think you're fooling? You planned it, you did it, you tried (so hard) to cover it up. Give it up already. We got your number, you murdering fool. Curtains for the Arias Circus. Off she goes. Don't let that door hit you, you awful, despicable excuse of a human being.

God forgive me on this Sunday, I want her to be sentenced to death. I so want to hear the statements from Travis's family. I want his siblings to finally have the chance to tell their brother's killer just exactly what they think of her, thus speaking for the rest of us. I feel for you, Travis's family. I do. I pray for you. Stay strong. The Worse Is Over. Justice Will Prevail.:heartbeat:

Hasta luego, people of WS. Had to share. Thank you for reading. Back to lurkdom. :seeya:See you around. M.

Don't lurk. Post- it helps, believe me.
I felt the same way about the DP and I have changed my mind in this case, too (never thought I'd ever admit this).

:welcome5: If I give you a :cupcake: will you post? :blushing:

We have a lot of fun :pillowfight2::guitar: :skip: . We also do a lot of :waiting: around for the trial to start and give each other :therethere:, we :slapfight: and :bigfight:. We :deadhorse:, but also give :grouphug:. The mods are great :gomods:, too.
Have I convinced you yet? We even dance here. :juanettes::juanettes::juanettes::juanettes::juanettes:

Omg for real???? I missed that. LOL when she said this, I can't imagine what the jurors thought. Admitting to money issues and then disclosing she's getting $300/hour for her testimony! Can you say........

"Secondary gain?"

Now her friend is coming to put his hand in the cookie jar.

You would think as smart as she is she would have studied up and knew not to do that!

WagaraTapaTalk

I know. Isn't her "friend" Donovan going to be in some hot water for peddling fraudulent works ?

I just realized something ALV actually subscribed to a magazine for Jodi!???

And IIRC, they were the same magazines JA wrote her "coded" messages to someone in.
That is why JM asked AL if the messages were meant for her.
Plus he was able to show the jury that innocent JA took advantage of AL by using her gifts to get a coded message out to someone....brilliant!

Robert Towery doesn't take his eyes off JM. Sheesh.

If you've not seen this, have a look at from 04:20. It's part of JM's final arguments, and then watch MelMcDonald's reactions to JM's objections - especially the one at 05:50. There's a great switch from emotion to huffing :floorlaugh:

Since I was on vacation last week (lol, in Florida, not *that* kind of WS vacation!) I'm catching up. I had time to freeze frame on the WalMart testimony, and was shocked that most purchases were cash, #2 was checks, #3 was debit cards, and #4 was charge cards?????@!!@@ WOW! Different than I would expect, or perhaps demographics. I always use a credit card as don't carry cash, and debit cards don't have the consumer protection by law that credit cards have.

Just found that of interest.

Also of interest and where I'm at right now is that Nurmi really brings out again and again in the cross of Deanna her going to Costa Rica........isn't this the first time that this was brought up?..... and I scratch my head wondering why he is harping on it.......

ETA: Glad to see when I got back that everyone is still here and no-one is on *that* kind of vacation :blowkiss: as would be just awful not to be able to post later this week!

How many of you own a gun for protection and leave your front door unlocked?

While waiting in long lines :I've noticed that a lot of folks from Latin heritage use cash. Salinas has a large Latin population.
