Kinda trippy.. I really believe everything was brewing... the pedo connections, the money from PPL, the sinful sex.

Maybe Jodi used Travis' email account to email Joshua and accused Travis of something? I bet thats who she got the pedo pamphlets for. Again, a speck of truth in her stories.

I think that's right. i think that she was harboring anger about him not acknowledging her in his life and after she left, she thought Travis would go down hill. What did he do? He lost weight, got a little muscular, was trying to clear up his issues with the Bishop, he was going to Cancun with someone else. He'd made enough money or whatever to get on the Cancun trip, so maybe she thought he was prospering and leaving her behind. Then he'd told her on the sex tape he was coming to see her, but he apparently changed his mind about that one.

Jodi was losing her position in his life and he was moving on. So she did something--whatever prompted that text message--to try to suck him back in. That backfired on her and really bad because he threatened to expose her. Maybe she lied about being pregnant. That's a standard lie of a woman who can't let go, and we know Jodi isn't good at lying, according to ALV.

It certainly does. From what I understand Jodi admitted to sending texts to his other female friends as if they were from Travis also (from his phone). I actually think she testified about this. A female (Mimi maybe or Linda?) sent Travis a text. Jodi read it and replied with something like "just enjoying spending time with Jodi". This was after they broke up and Jodi knew he was interested in this other woman. She has absolutely NO BOUNDARIES!

I don't know exactly how it played out, been a while since I've watched the 48 hours doco.

For some reason I had it in my head that Jodi went to bed early - that is, away to a bedroom, and Travis and the Hughes' just stayed where they were, talking into the night.

The topic had got onto Jodi, and it was around that time that Skye thought Jodi was listening in - listening outside the door.

Slightly different interpretation of the anecdote from you, I guess. It might have been a little rude; perhaps a phone conversation in private would be more appropriate, but who knows - maybe there was something quite specific to that night's behavior that made it relevant to bring up then? Anyhoo, that's my thought and recollection.

I personally haven't seen a lot of living rooms or dens that have doors that can close off the room from the rest of the house. I thought I remembered hearing that Skye had said she'd opened the door and Jodi was standing there.

There could have been some relevant behavior that they wanted to address immediately, but if it were crucial, I'd assume they say what that was on during the story. I could have missed that, though, if they did.

It would be possible to lift fingerprint from these letters wouldn't it? Probably the main reason they decided to leave them out!

I agree, that they were forged. I doubt the DT would let an opportunity pass to paint off TA as a pedophile.

The letters were "copies", not originals, and JA couldn't produce the originals..........and JA's mother later tried to sell them to the National Enquirer, they refused to believe they were the real deal either.
Regardless, they were deemed "forgeries".....you can see their progression through the case history around May 2010.

If you can find one, I'd LOVE to see it, web address or otherwise. My brother's, then 2 1/2 year old, son was raped by a married LDS male member KNOWN to be a pedophile by the bishopric in his ward in 1993. The bishopric had even given the Mission President a "heads up" that this "guy" was "sketchy". When my brother took his son to the Emergency room TO GET STITCHED UP, the police where going to arrest my brother. This "guy" and his wife babysat kids up and down the street my brother and his family lived on.
This "guy" did time, only because the Prosecutor "mis-spoke" when discussing the charges and he confessed.

I posted a few hours ago my opinon that JA probably did get a pamphlet at a mall to give to TA. Come to think of it, pedophilla is not mentioned in any of those. It is all about masterbation, , adultry, pre-marital sex, modesty (no shoulders or knees showing) SSA (Same sex attraction- that means Gay) Shoot, there is nothing mentioned in any of the LDS recovery groups about pedophillia. The church does not address that, does it?!

Yeah sorry, I got it wrong actually. You were pretty much right - though there were two episodes in the same story. I just saw on HLN's site - Dr Drew - there's an interview with Chris Hughes and he explains it fairly clearly.

Basically it was pretty much how you remembered: Jodi went to sleep down stairs and the Hughes' asked Travis to come up stairs and talk to them. They talked a fair bit about Jodi and then Skye motioned that she thought Jodi was outside, and within a few seconds, Jodi came in and asked if everything was alright.

Then Travis said everything is fine and he would be downstairs in a bit. They continued talking (for about 45 mins to an hour) and Skye said (silently, making gestures to that effect) that she thought Jodi was outside... again.

It was then that Travis got up went to the door, and opened the door to Jodi facing them with the scaryface that the Hughes had previously mentioned...

The defense team scaled back the pedophilia accusations considerably for the trial, so all that was left was the January 21, 2008 story about catching Travis masturbating to a photo of a young boy. During Nurmi's cross about the letters in the evidentiary hearing, Chris Hughes said that he and Sky quickly changed their minds about the legitimacy of the pedo confession letters. He told Nurmi that the letters didn't make any sense, didn't add up, it was inconsistent with Travis's behavior. Said that he and Sky saw a lot of Travis's letters, none of them were dated, the time frame doesn't make sense, the calendar didn't make sense, the date didn't make sense, it was her reconstructing a story.

Tonight on Dr Drew Sky Hughes was talking about an email Jodi showed Travis. It was before Jodi moved to Mesa. The email was to Jodi from a "stalker" who told her how wonderful she was, how beautiful she was, how Travis didn't deserve her, etc. It also stated that he was always watching her and Travis was too far away to protect her.
Travis showed the email to Sky and she laughed. Travis was upset and said it wasn't something to laugh at and he was concerned about Jodi's safety.
Sky told Travis point blank - Jodi wrote that email and made the whole story up. She wants you to be concerned about her safety and ask her to move to Mesa.

Maybe this is the email from the "mystery man" that Travis was talking about in that email to Jodi? (the one posted earlier that talks about her comment to Danny Jones also)

Possibly. Maybe she could have told him that the stalker had refreshed his interest in her since she moved back. Didn't he make reference to a man hacking into her google account or something? Didn't he get an email as a result?

Remember these letters came out in 2010, she was planning her self defense case by then. She had plenty of time to think this crap up and forge the letters.

I would bet money the idea came from J Freeman and his struggles.

If she wrote 2007 on them, then that's the first clue to forgery. It's probably why they got withdrawn. They couldn't be written to her because she didn't "find out" until a year later. I don't even think she could argue that 21 days into January, he was still accidentally writing 2007. If they weren't written to her, how in the world could she explain MM getting his hands on them?

Much like her artwork, the pedophilia story she made up about Travis isn't an "original" JA either. Completely agree that she lifted elements of Joshua Freeman's personal struggles when crafting the fiction about Travis. I don't think she had pedophilia on her mind at the time she murdered Travis--that came after sitting in jail for almost two years and no way out of her predicament and an unwillingness to accept responsibility. The Ninja story wasn't working for her, so she had to come up with something new. ALV said under cross that Jodi told her Travis had child on his computer, etc. What we got from Jodi and the defense team during the trial was a watered down version of Travis's struggle with pedophilia--the January 21 incident and half-baked inferences about Spidey underwear, the braids, and a so-called preference for anal sex (you know what that means...).
