Makes me want to know what the trip to myrtle was.

"Money testified that she first had long conversations with Jason at a beach trip with a group of couples in May 2006 in North Myrtle Beach. The group was basically Michelle Young's sorority sisters, who had stayed together after graduating from N.C. State.

Those conversations continued in July on another beach trip with that group. Then the relationship between Jason Young and Michelle Money accelerated when the friends congregated at the Youngs' house in Raleigh for an N.C. State football game on Sept. 22, 2006. The Wolfpack was playing Boston College that weekend."

Don't forget JY told MM he thought Steve Money was fooling around.
Reckon he thought MM needed to know:D

The only thing that makes sense is that maybe the coffee place was in the opposite direction of the route they were taking.

I respectfully disagree with you. I have been in the car with a disgruntled partner who decided the best way to "shut me up" was to slam on the brakes and jerk the car into a very awkward three point turn using the wrong amount of speed and nearly landing us in a ditch.

Not saying that's the case, but saying that it wasn't necessarily anything but spite or meanness that caused this.

I don't think it was an "accident" as much it was an "🤬🤬🤬-ident".

welcome to websleuths!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I too found it strange... esp that they wouldn't just get coffee on the road as they were heading back home anyhow...

made no sense to me

And...insisted they leave CY at his mom's house....just the 2 of them.
Really? We heard testimony that NEVER happened if he had a say.

BTW, Barclay Road is the total opposite side of town as Star Bucks, and out of the way.
It just happened to be a windy mountain road with a river right off a very steep embankment.

So, was there a blow up with MY and JY over this whole (assuming Myrtle Beach) Myrtle thing.

I have had my brain so full with these husband/wife things the last two years that some of it has jumbled.

I can't remember how the Myrtle thing fit in, but I have a nagging feeling I heard it was a major fight at one point.

It's unfortunate that the concerns that are being raised now weren't raised back then. The investigating officer measured everything, checked everything, interviewed everyone and concluded that it was an accident along a stretch of road where accidents had previously happened. The accident was worse for Michelle because she had just removed her seatbelt to get something from the back seat, but Jason certainly had no way of knowing that she would suddenly do that while they were near the river where other similar accidents had occurred.

This affidavit for a search warrant, dated Nov 6, 2008 (two years after the murder), shows how slowly this investigation was proceeding. I had assumed, during those years, that LE was heads down busy investigating. But in reading the SW, there is so much they had just recently discovered and more to be found. I can't understand why these things were taking so long for them to get around to researching.

For those of you who watched the entire last trial, was there focus on the many phone calls between JY and his mother? That is so suspicious to me, and I am sure to many others. Was there a logical explanation given, ever?

I didn't check the link, but if you're referring to the phone calls while he was driving from the meeting to Brevard, I think there were reception problems so he had to keep calling back .. I think that was what his mom said when she testified ... but I'm going on memory.

Ummm.....No matter what circumstances he was under that day, no man should ever talk to his wife that way or refer to his child in that manner. If he had any love or respect for Michelle, that email would have been worded very different. Please don't make an excuse for this email. It was exactly how he was feeling.

I completely agree. I was once with a man eerily the same time MY was with JY and the tone of that email really sent chills up my spine bc that type of anger and manipulation in that email I used to hear on a constant basis. Verbal abuse is so horrible... My Mom said to me get out because he will kill you or make you so miserable you will want to kill yourself... and I feel after hearing that email and the testimony of the therapist and the testimony of her friend that MY seemed defeated that is sadly what was beginning to happen to MY.

The reason that Shelly Schaad's statement made me have a light bulb type of moment was that (and yes I understand it was here say) I guess was that SS said JY waited until she took her seat belt off and then some type of engine light or some type of light in the car came on caused him to jerk the car and cause and accident. Nothing to do with road conditions or design. Seems very odd to me. You don't think that JY didn't know exactly what he was doing and where. He is so calculated. Maybe I miss heard SS.

No Otto, those 28 calls on November 3 were a small fraction of the total calls over about a month period during which Jason constantly called his mother. They're on page 5 of the search warrant, spanning the period from October 4, 2006 through November 3, 2006 (the day of the 28 calls).

I think he turned around at the same time that Michelle did ... she was looking for skin lotion and he thought an interior light was on. He was going around a corner and didn't straighten out in time. He over corrected, crossed the center line and went down and embankment to the river.

He could have asked her to get something out of the back seat. jmo

Looking at the accident report, the road curves, the over correct appears sudden and the river appears to be straight. It had to be another one of those many coincidences with this case where Michelle removed her seatbelt exactly at the moment that they came around the corner next to the river and the car went off the road ... a completely unplanned supposedly deliberate murder attempt.

Friends testified that she was reaching into the back to get her skin lotion for her skin.

Thank you for clarifying. That was it. The statement from SS just gave me an eerie feeling. Thank you for all the information.

You're most welcome. It's still an open question. It seems that one set of beliefs includes hearing "daddy did it" on the 911 tape, that there are no bloody footprints on the carpet, that the car accident was an earlier murder attempt, Jason is guilty and so on. Another set of beliefs is not hearing "daddy did it", hearing that there were bloody footprints on the carpet, seeing the car accident as an accident, unsure about Jason's guilt and so on. Same information ... different interpretation.

Personally, I think the prosecution is building a very solid case.

Yes I also believe that the prosecution is building a solid case. I thought the car wreck by the river was an attempt to just cause MY to have a miscarriage and IMO then she got pregnant again and JY got desperate. The other thing I hope the jury picked up on is that JY basically gave CY up just as to not testify in the civil case. Court TV legal analyst said today that they are afraid this huge point might have gotten lost on the jury today.

There were a couple of things (first trial and this one) that I feel like the prosecution has (lacking a better word) misfired on.

It gets even more strange when you are building a careful pyramid of circumstantial evidence and hoping to use the totality to get the jury over the hump. It can dilute the water.

I am really hoping that there's going to be a little bigger bombshell in here somewhere. Otherwise, I predict a third go on this.

OMG!

Did you see at the beginning of the SW in your first link, Jason lawyered up the first time he contacted the detective, BEFORE he even got back into town.

Sorry, I do NOT believe for a minute he lawyered up on the advice of his friends. That is BS!

Sorry, not buyin' it and I HOPE the jury doesn't either!

JMHO

PS....sorry, had to leave and am pages behind. But this statement really gets me! fran
