DNA in OJ case was strong & compelling. The witnesses, not so much. One blood swab from Bronco went straight to DOJ for processing & testing (never sent to LAPD crime lab). Matched the 2 victims + OJ. Jury was clueless.

If 'wife-killing' continues to be a problem in this area, RDU/Chapel Hill, etc., it might be wise for this area to invest in the equipment necessary to retrieve fingerprints from cloth, skin, etc., and also the necessary equip/testing methods for touch DNA.

I am confused. Did he do the analysis or Jerry Winsted(sp). He keeps mentioning his name.

Me personally, hindsight, I don't think there was any way that jury was going to convict O.J. Simpson of killing anyone, regardless. Marsha & Chris did a crappy job, IMO, as did many of the investigators. But I don't think *that* jury was going to convict 'the juice'. MOO

151 foot impression lifts made in this case total, not all were of value.

This guy noticed the baby's footprints in blood...sock prints! He could see the fabric marks in the impressions.

This was a massive investigation.

Finger Prints:

MY: ID'd 19 times

JLY: ID'd 21 times

Mer Fisher: ID'd 2 times - front door handle exterior

Carol Sowerby: ID'd 3 times - kitchen door going into garage.

Alan Fisher: prints on exterior master BR door frame, exterior doorframe of C's room.

This was a massive investigation.

One of the reasons I find it hard to believe the investigators *missed* Michelle's tooth. IMO, I find it far more likely JLY *took* the tooth, perhaps as a souvineer of his crime, and later decided to use it as an example of inept police work, along with the cig butts. JMO MOO

Thanks for the updates. :)

JLY's own prints on closet door molding (his closet). This is not compelling. You would expect to see his prints inside his own home.

IIRC, Jason never went back into the house?

i was surprised that merediths prints were only found on the outside front door handle. are we to assume she didn't touch anything in that house in the course of walking through it, finding and checking her sister in that bloody mess and caring for cassidy during that time?

partial DNA profile obtained from print on sheetrock item 7.1: JLY cannot be excluded as possible source from that sample and this is relatively strong in terms of a match.

jewelry box: 5 markers obtained. consistent w/female & mixture from more than 1 person. Not JLY & not MY.

sprinkler: 8 markers obtained. male DNA. not either MY or JLY.

rock: only 3 total markers obtained, but JLY cannot be excluded as possible source from that sample.

MY excluded from sheetrock 7.1 and rock 6.1

Thanks, Mad74 - You don't miss a thing, so I'm glad for your help. Multi-tasking is not my strong point when I'm preparing my kitchen for countertop replacement and listening to testimony....

Re the jewelry box -- possibly LF when she was down for a visit (or some other friend) may have helped MY get dressed for an occasion and selected an accessory -- or any variation thereof -- IDK if they ruled out LF's prints on this item. IMO, that's not a big deal.

The rock and the sprinkler are too "universally available" for me to get all aflitter about; and the sheetrock would be, IMO, in the same situation as the jewelry box. The sprinkler could have been used by a friend or family member to wash off, hose off the deck, water the lawn, etc., etc.

Not much here except that they didn't rule our JY on the rock -- but not enuff to convict on its own. IMO

You can hear from the 911 call exactly where she was, and her path. This being said- she was very focused on CY and where she was/what she saw (shielding line of vision, etc). Imo she was mostly hands on CY.

Edit: this is referring to MF prints

we've heard how michelle's body was positioned laying. when meredith checked on her sister you'd think she would have to kneel down and her hands would touch something (wall, floor, bed, nightstand) for leverage in either kneeling down and/or getting back up. she was quite heavy at the time. regardless i still find it odd there were no fingerprints anywhere in the house

The CSI effect has taken hold. Perps have gotten much smarter & more informed about covering up, avoiding leaving their own DNA, wearing gloves, getting rid of clothes, shoes and items tying them to a crime. More cleanups in general (though not in this case) to erase signs of a struggle.

I bet we will continue to see less and less DNA tying an educated perp to a crime, and more other kinds of evidence, like digital, in it's stead.

Yep, every law & order, CSI, etc., TV program will have to have a Timothy McGee in their unit!

Thanks for all the updates. I've only been able to listen to part of the testimony today. I still amazed by MM from yesterday. Sounded like she and JY are a perfect match, cold , calculating and all about me.

I didn't catch when the judge said they'd be back. Then I was on the phone and thought sure they'd be back by now. Anyone know when they'll resume?

TIA
