I think the one statement by J's friend in a previous testimony saying J was AFRAID if he divorced M she'd move back to NY and he'd never get to see his little girl.

When I heard that I thought 'MOTIVE!'

PS.....lest we also not forget the insurance policy. Wasn't it a mil? He didn't apply for it because, can't recall exact words but something like, 'it wouldn't look good.'

Or, is that another case? :waitasec:

Yes 1 mil -- with double indemnity if IIRC -- and homicide would be "accidental" and not natural...

Oddly, I thought that most of the testimony today was either neutral or hurt the defense. His mom confirmed that the plans to pick up the furniture were conveyed to her on Thursday night, not before that. She also seemed to think that the victim's sister and mother might snatch CY! That is why they weren't allowed to see CY without supervision? I was glad that JS clarified this.

Other family members didn't do much either way for the cases.

Friends, though, I don't think they're helping the defense from what I saw. JD seemed to mostly help the pros. Confirmed story of previous fiance about the altercation in Texas, confirmed public fighting (to the point that he and his wife even discussed not inviting JY and MY to events!), confirmed absence of JY from group event in Myrtle Beach (suggestion by ADA that MM lived there,) confirmed JY's anger during trip to Winston-Salem, shortly before murder.

NYT driver I thought helped the pros more than the defense with the timeline and the light colored SUV in the driveway. She was found by police very soon after the event, so her memory of which day it happened is likely correct.

Neighbor/postal service lady, now she seemed like an actual witness for the defense. First one, really! Seemed like a nice lady, but also seemed a bit delighted to tell her story, though, which makes me nervous. An awful lot of detail in her description, right down to seeing the wedding ring on the man's finger as she drove by in the dark! If there hadn't been such a gap in time between the event and her testimony to LE, then I would find it more credible. How much time passed, exactly? I got caught up with work and missed that part, but I realized later in testimony that there'd been some delay.

I'm just now watching PY's testimony from yesterday. She said he didn't go to Carolina because he needed to go to a state supported school? Huh?

I found a female Hensley not named Faye on Birchleaf, so Faye could be related to that person.

Yes, me too. I'd guess this is probably her MIL, lives with her due to her age? I can see why she wouldn't be able to testify if she has health issues.

Is UNC referred to as "Carolina"? For some reason I thought she meant USC which I've heard referred to as Carolina. If she meant USC then it's state supported, but out of state tuition rates would apply.

UNC is the ONLY Carolina you will ever hear referred to in this state. We call USC South Carolina.

And it's odd that she said state sponsored... but maybe she just meant cheaper in general.

The most compelling reason I believe the last witness testimony is wrong, she cannot recall, FOR SURE, it was THE Friday in question. Just that it was a FRIDAY. The pros brought that part out in the cross.

Eye witnesses are the most unreliable of all types of evidence.

I'm seriously not looking for something to discredit this witness. But I can't get past the point, she wasn't SURE, just THOUGHT it could be that Friday.

No, she was talking about UNC-CH (Chapel Hill). She referenced Dean Smith's basketball camp.

Mrs. Beaver had to drive past 10 driveways to get to the Young's, plus she approached the passenger side first if she was leaving for work like she said....how the heck could she see jewlery on the driver if, as she stated, the car was coming out of the driveway forwardly?
I'm looking at the map of the neighborhood. Didn't she say she saw jewelery on the driver?

I missed part of her testimony so intend to go back and listen again. I also thought she said they were driving forward, and if she was headed towards Penny Road, you are right that the passenger would have been on the side facing her. I wonder if the car was leaving a driveway on the right and she's just confused?

ETA: Just listened to her testimony again. She did say the passenger was on her side. I'm extremely impressed that she, in a small car, was able to see into the larger vehicle, with extremely bright dash board lights lighting up the steering wheel enough for her to see the man's jewelry. Quite impressive. She also said that she assumed the passenger's head was turned to talk to the driver and she thought they were talking about her. Interesting because I don't think, driving by someone at five-thirty or so in the morning, that I would have thought they were talking about me even if I did have my bright lights on.

Can someone provide me with a link for the 911 audio? All the links listed here and on other sites don't work. I even searched WRAL. I can't find it there, but the links aren't working.

Yes. And, IIRC, she said it was a ring.

BBM - ITA - She may be 100% correct, but I'm skeptical, too. When you do a thing repetitively, like always getting in an elevator to take you to your office, those events can really blend together.

Cars look alike, and after that Friday, there were probably a host of cars going in & out of that driveway day & night. And other cars leaving other driveways going to work early in the mornings.

And many of us have been told to watch a scene & report on the details.
What color was his shirt? How tall was he? Did he wear glasses? We had this type of test when I worked in a bank and they staged a robbery. They asked about 7 of us, "Describe the person who robbed you." Well, you know the rest. Comical. But comedy is not what the LEO's or the Secret Service want when a bank is robbed.

It boggles the mind that JY told his friend that MM was trying to get pregnant by her husband WHILE she was having an affair with JY!!!!!! What? Who does that? So twisted.

Who does that? A 17-yr old in a 30-yr old's body. He just doesn't seem to know or try to know how to act in regular society. Or care. JMO.

OMG wyn!:floorlaugh: Her testimony is laughable!

Even worse, when mm was pregnant, she told jason she wished the baby was his! They're all nuts.

I believe JY had told a friend that MM and her husband were trying for another baby during their 10/7 tryst, and she hoped if she got pregnant the baby would be JY's. If my memory is correct, JY said this to his friend after the affair with MM and prior to MY's murder.

I think the timeline rules out JY being the father of her second pregnancy. I believe MM would have had to have gotten pregnant after she and her husband were questioned by LE, and LE revealed the affair to her husband.

I still shake my head at bringing a baby into the world under those circumstances. I'd love to hear an analysis of MM. She is truly bizarre.

I am a solid believer that Jason Young brutally murdered his wife, BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. The important part of this is not that its POSSIBLE someone else was there due to this newly found evidence from an (unlikely) eyewitness (or 2.. Shoot :) ). Sure, its possible she remembered a car/cars there on a friday. What is compellingly different about her in comparison to Gracie is that she "thought" it was the same day. If the prosecution didn't have intention to rebuttal this in some way, they would have objected and tried to keep the evidence/witness from being admitted. This testimony does not truly create a doubt that is reasonable and credible to discredit everything prosecutors have proven in their well-planned and executed case. Although it does raise a few questions in my mind, it doesn't stand out as a "loophole" that places blame on anyone other than JLY. It is possible that, #1 these witnesses are 100 % correct in their memories, #2 someone was in fact driving a light suv around the house or in the neighborhood and/or #3 a male with a ring drove a different vehicle out of the driveway that wasn't JLY's, yes, well-anything is possible, right? But, paired with all other applicable and accurate evidence from the prosecution, is it reasonable?? NO!
