Discussing sex with kids, part of Steve Powell's divorce


The father-in-law of a missing Utah woman was once accused of inappropriately discussing sex with children and keeping in his home against the wishes of his wife, according to court documents.

In the court documents, Terri Powell wrote that Steve Powell talked of teaching his children about birth control methods when they were as young as 9 years old. Terri's sister, Becky Mulcahy, wrote in the documents that Steve Powell told her that he had shown his youngest children books about sexual intercourse when they were 6 and 8 years old.

Terri Powell said her husband viewed people as animals and that they should be able to have sex with anyone at any time. She recalled a conversation in which Josh referred to a girl his brother, Johnny, liked. "All she is good for is her body, right Dad?" Terri recalled Josh saying.

"Yeah, that's right," Steve Powell replied, according to the declaration.

Terri Powell also said Steve Powell kept hardcore in the home and that he visited shops.

Jennifer Graves, Josh Powell's sister, said in an interview with The Associated Press that she broke off ties with her father in part because of his problems with sex and . She recalled going on a business trip with her father when she was about 11 years old and that he viewed a pornographic video while she was with him.

Reading his posts on the anti-Mormon Yahoo forum (I need to quit - I've wasted too much time at it, and I feel like I've been rolling around in a pigsty), he sure has a different take on the divorce. To hear him tell it, he was a great husband and father who just happened to disagree with the Mormon church. As a result, his ex-wife and the Mormon church decided to destroy his life.

But in nearly every post, he refers to something sexual - sometimes, quite graphically. The things referenced in that article are quite believable.

Since JG has revealed that Steve showed to her and Steve's ex-wife says he talked about it with the children when they were little, that just makes Josh's claim of not knowing about Dad's problem even more ridiculous!

I would love to know what the folks in that forum are thinking, or if they have even put the connection together about him being a member there.

The whole time he was there, he was whining about what a beast his ex-wife was, and what a bunch of moronic twits her Mormon co-conspirators were. In one post, he even makes fun of the mindless imbeciles from the local ward that showed up to help his ex-wife move from their home (how ironic, considering Josh's experience with moving). All the while, the members there were egging him on, and agreeing with his every sentiment.

Now, it appears that the ex-wife is the sympathetic figure; and they were all busy consoling a predator.

I believe the only ones they cannot monitor is between the inmate & his/her attorney.

Have you joined their group? You have to do that first.

Then, I searched for two things: "Steve Powell" will pull up a bunch of stuff; and "Puyallup" will pull up the rest.

It's REALLY interesting in hindsight. He makes so many comments that could, at the very least, be considered ironic. He talks a lot about his two oldest kids (Jennifer and Josh) who have been brainwashed by religion. He absolutely obsesses over the Mormon church and his ex-wife - he hates her as much as anyone I've ever seen in a divorce. And he constantly makes sexual comments - some so graphic and disgusting, I can't believe someone didn't tell him to tone it down, a lot.

Even without hindsight, I think I would think I was reading the ramblings of a very disturbed individual.

I wonder if there is anything there that would be of interest to police and/or prosecutors.

A 1992 divorce case reviewed by The Associated Press shows Steve Powell's ex-wife accusing him of damaging his children's respect for marriage. Powell was charged this month with child and voyeurism after authorities investigating the disappearance of Susan Powell searched his home him Puyallup.

Susan Powell's husband, Josh, has been named a person of interest in the case, and he was recently living with Steve Powell.

Not to mention the fact that Josh knows that Susan left Washington because of his dad. And, once in Utah, Josh knows that Steve sent pornographic pictures to Susan. He HAD to have some idea that his dad was perverted!

I like how JP talks about his plans to move to a motel if SP gets bailed out. How is he planning to pay for the motel?

Isn't staying in a motel considered to be basically homeless?

I think that some of the revelations in court and in the recent news articles about Steve play a key role in understanding the dynamics here. The fact that he subjected his kids at young ages to is appalling! The fact that he defends it is amazing.

Also, the fact that Josh in court wants to be certain that the kids are not allowed to go to the LDS church is very telling. He is completely buying into his dad's mumbo jumbo. Josh is completely indoctornated by Steven's way of thinking that the "Mormons" are behind all of the evil in their lives. The "Mormons" have caused all of their problems.
