I am going to tie this into Steven Powell shortly, but am I correct in assuming this interview was done during the time JP had the rental car? He just exited the car to the left in this photo. It is obviously not his mini-van. This would date this interview as December 8, 2009? Is that correct?

Notable in this photo is his hands do not look frost-bitten.

Why were JP's hands frost-bitten on December 9, 2009 but no mention of this on December 7, 2009?

JP had the rental car on December 8-9, 2009, according to my records.

Thanks for any clarification.

(it's only a matter of time, Josh)

I'm willing to bet that Steven Powell augmented his income by doing favor's maybe for inmates?

I think that arrangement could be one that he could continue - albeit, with slightly different favors.

Either he was truly horrified at what he had done, or he was putting on a pretty good show. Or he was surprised at the amount of publicity and concern his wife was getting and was sure that he was going to be arrested at any moment. Or all of the above.

Thank you. The key to picking the right choice of those possibilities is the point that he was observed to be continually crying. That is hard to keep up if it is being faked, and isn't necessary to show concern, upset, etc.

MOO.

True. But do you think he was crying because he was truly worried about where Susan was? Or do you think he was crying out of self pity? I think the latter, myself.

Plus, he has been seen squeezing out a few complementary tears whenever reporters with cameras are around, even lately. That is, until they start challenging his story. Then the tears dry up quick as he makes his getaway.

Crying = Loss.

He was crying because he murdered his wife and she was gone now. The weight of what he had done was overwhelming. This was way out of his league. MOO.

I've been pretty quiet for a few days...way too much going on. However, I got a chance to speak to my grandfather, the former sheriff.

He tells me that SP definitely helped in some capacity and that he feels JP will be arrested shortly, due to how orchestrated SP's arrest was in time with ending the Topaz search. Especially considering the children were removed.

He also seems to think WVCPD is intentionally making it seem like they have nothing, when in all reality there is probably something very damning. Now that daddy is in custody, his interactions with Josh can be intensely monitored. As we've seen, narcissists always mess up somewhere...so the PD could pounce at any time.

Wow, that is great news! ty

HotLavaJavas...THANKS to your Grandfather for his insight.

This is alarming to me. Why would SP need to know about school security? It sounds like an excuse to look around and see where he could plant a hidden camera.

Sorry, it was late and bad wording. She (poster) was stating what kind of security measures the school had in dealing with workers coming in from the outside. Escorting outside contractor, no maintenance by outsiders during class time, etc. Paraphrasing here. In other words, not letting any joe schmo just come in and pretend to be there about work or business within the school.

I'm with you on this.

My uncle killed himself in July, and his wife would fall into hysterics and bawl constantly. It was a shock to his parents, siblings, etc, but not to her. He'd attempted a few weeks prior with a shotgun and she stupidly said "let me go get the kids!" thinking he was just bluffing.

So, she told nobody about this. The night he died, she saw him making a noose and left the house anyway. So, the guilt she feels must be tremendous.

The ME confirmed the death as suicide. But, since she knew, her hysterics and random bouts of crying and not eating made sense once we all knew that she had prior knowledge. She was a bit off before his death, but afterward, she went kind of nuts.

Josh's behavior is similar to hers....and is driven by guilt, IMO.

Judge is trying to figure out if she has jurisdiction in the matter, since state has custody, control and care of the boys.

The Coxes are here. They've been doing interviews with Today and NBC's Dateline the past few days. One of the network's reporters is here.

This is the hearing that was supposed to take place Wednesday, but was switched -- quietly and suddenly -- onto today's calendar.

Thanks!

I believe you are the web expert around here - can you tell when SP added the web page with the lyrics "Waiting for You" to his website?

TIA.

I have looked at the code, but without the initial file located in his root directory, I can't tell you.

So I did some further snooping and found Chantrey's MySpace. The album "Light of Seattle" was added there in July 2010.

Thanks!

The lyrics to "Waiting for You", viewed through a lens of suspicion, reveal a possible connection to Susan, including after her death.

Here is how I think they could tie in:

Waiting for You

Words and Music by Steve Chantrey

You did your own thing,
You did it your way,
While I awaited your
Appearance in my doorway.
I spent the whole day through
Waiting for you.

Possible interpretation: Susan rejected his sexual advances and moved to Utah. She never showed up again.

It didn't happen
If you had shown up,
I would have thought that our
Relationship was sewn up.
I spent the whole day through
Waiting for you.

Possible interpretation: Susan never showed up, but if she had, the relationship would have been perfect. He waited, but she never did.

I could be getting a mistaken impression,
Each time you seem to gaze at me.
You let me touch you softly. Why? is the question.
And the effect amazes me.

Possible interpretation: The "gaze" he is referring to is Susan's dead corpse, eyes looking at him. He touches her body and he is not refuted for the first time. He gets a rush from this because of fantasy fulfillment.

Had trouble sleeping.
Wasn't beside you.
I felt so lonely,
For a little bit I cried too.
I spent the whole night through
Waiting for you.

Possible interpretation: He no longer has the corpse at this point in the lyrics - time has moved forward. During the time he had the corpse, he had her in his bed. Now, he feels lonely, and even cried about the loss. He had a sleepless night over it.

Repeat bridge

Now I am smitten
Doubt I'll recover
Only one cure and that's to
Have you as my lover.
I'll spend my whole life through
Waiting for you.

Possible interpretation: He now is saying he is unable to get over her, and that he will wait for her even though his whole life will be spent waiting as she is gone now.

MOO.

Josh Powell says he did not harm his missing wife... Says his father will not be posting bail. "He will not be coming home."
