Inside Edition just showed a piece on Susan's case. IE actually played a portion of SP singing 'I'm missing you'. I had never heard the songs, only read the lyrics. CREEPY!!!!

I sure hope SP has no delusions of appearing on 'the sing off' or the 'voice'. LOL!

Ok here is a theory on how SP ties into the case, beyond the earlier post I made regarding events prior to Susan's disappearance (see post for more info:http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7160343&postcount=51):

SP says he will take care of body, it's safer that way, farther from scene, knows a mine-shaft, etc. Tells JP he will start driving to Utah and for JP to start driving to WA. (see this post for more info:

Body is dropped off to SP somewhere around Boise, ID.
JP heads back home, arrives back in town around 6 p.m.
SP takes body to his house in WA. (see my analysis of lyrics in above post upthread to "Waiting for you")

LE search JP home, take van.
SP paranoia leaps up that his house could be next, wants to get rid of body. Also, it may be quite problematic with smell, etc. of decaying corpse.
SP tells JP he had a problem in disposing of body, it was too heavy, etc. and needs his help.
SP tells JP that he has a mine shaft in Ely, NV in mind, but it will take 2 people.
SP rents a rental car at SLC airport for JP (this could be verified. I don't think JP would have had a credit card to do it.)
JP drives to Ely in the rental car (note this rental car would have had a lot of trouble in the Topaz area, so that IMO is later burial spot.)
SP drives to Ely with body.
Meeting time is at night near mine shafts.
Average low temp in Ely in December is 10 degrees.
JP and SP take body to mine shaft. Dispose of body.
JP gets frost bite from the process.



Why move the body from Ely if that is where they disposed of it? Possibly because info later came out from his neighbor that JP had discussed how a mine shaft would be a perfect place to dispose of a dead body. This could have sent his paranoia soaring, and prompted a move of the body to another site.

This also would make sense because the shallow grave at Topaz is only 3 feet long. IMO, it was not the initial burial site (unless Susan was dismembered.) By the time JP had moved the body to Topaz (some time later), the remains could be fit in a 3 feet in length shallow grave.

ETA: It could be very revealing to have a cadaver dog go through SP's house and backyard, IMO.

Per the reporter in this interview, she got a look at the search warrant of SP's home on Aug 25, 2011.

Per her, the search warrant was for Susan's diary, electronic journals, every computer in the house, any videos linked to her, and also for trace amounts of blood.!!!

Investigators appear to have the same suspicion that Steve Powell had her body in his home. (!)

TACOMA, Wash. -- A lawyer from the state Attorney General's office told a Pierce County judge Tuesday that Josh Powell is the subject of a voyeurism and investigation and may have had some involvement in the child case of Steven Powell, Josh's father.

The state granted temporary custody of the two sons to Coxes, but the judge in the case will not issue a final custody ruling until Wednesday. The two boys are currently in foster care; it was not clear as of 1 p.m. whether they would spend tonight with their grandparents or remain with their foster family.

A judge will decide Wednesday morning who will have custody of Josh and Susan Powell's two young boys.

Josh Powell also insisted Tuesday that he did not harm his missing wife. He also said he father will not be posting bail.


"He will not be coming home," Josh Powell said.

The state initially gave temporary custody of the children to the Coxes, but the judge listened to additional arguments and said she would make a final decision Wednesday.

Let's assume for a moment that JP's comment that he nothing to do with the disappearance of Susan is true. How could he say that and yet still be involved.

I mean like he left her sick in the house and then his father came and got her and therefore he believes he has nothing to with the "disappearance".

I ask this because from everything I've heard it's the only thing he's ever said. I don't recall seeing any variation from that exact statement.

And another thing! How is SP supporting 3 adult children and 2 growing grandchildren on his salary. IIRC, I read that SP's income was approx 58k per year. That is not much for such a large household with a 5 BR home in a gated community, 15 computers, elaborate camera equipment for surveilling neighbor children and only SP is working. I'm not buying it. There has to be supplementary income coming in from somewhere....there has to be, IMO.

It's insanity. I'm a professional geek...I get paid to program computers, and I build my own. At present, I have two desktops and a laptop in my house. I have various parts to others, but only 3 work. I cannot even imagine 15 computers.

The geek in me would love to know how many hard drives each computer has.

I imagine as part of their forensic investigation, the PD would want to match up IP address hits to sites with their router log. Also, using a router as they would definitely have to with that many machines, it would create a local area network which relies on the MAC address of their network cards. MAC addresses are unique to each card.

It could also be SP or any of them kept things hidden in their computer towers...it's dumb, but easy to do.

That was the first thing I thought of. If he's got that many computers, how many portable hard drives, data sticks, SD cards...and on and on, must he have? Good lord. In the first three years of my daughter's life (b. 2002), I uploaded over 10,000 pictures to my hard drive on my one (now ancient and outdated) PC. With modern machines, you can store hundreds of thousands of pictures on one drive. 15 computers? Holy gigabytes, Batman! Damn.

A forensic scientist's dream...all that equipment, and these creeps to sink with it.

A lot of people who copy numerous CD's that they sell may have fifteen computers so they can burn a lot at once. If that's what they were for, what was SP selling? I'm sure he wasn't overloaded with orders for his songs.

Were they DVD's or Child DVD's? Something else?

Thought this sounded strange, " ...my own private way." ???? What exactly is that supposed to mean ? If my beloved husband went missing,heaven forbid, I'd be begging for any and all available people and resources to help; that would include any media time they'd give me to show his photo, etc...
