Steve's good friend, John Stainton, is on LKL tonight. Get out your tisses, because only the hardest of hearts would not be touched by what has been aired so far.

Stainton started crying a couple of times already. When Larry asked him how Terri was doing, John sad, "A lot worse than me". My heart just aches for them. :(

All day yesterday, I felt as if I'd taken a barb to my heart but today was better .... until watching this now.

No one has said anything about how Steve's dad is doing. Anyone heard?

I thought both of his parents have passed away. I'm pretty sure I heard it on a news show right after hearing of Steve's death; I could be way wrong, though. I believe the news show said both parents have passed away, that the only family he had were Terri and his children and all of their many friends.

My heart breaks too, noone will ever replace Steve for Terri I don't think.
They were two peas in a pod and just absolutely adored each other.
When he talked of her, he was SO PROUD, his eyes got all misty and you thought he was going to cry lol..too cute.
She is strong, that is one of the things he most admired about her.
I guess it is Bindi who is going to take it the hardest.

They are calling it Australias Diana moment and it is, my whole world pretty much stopped for the day yesterday.
If I wasn't on here talking about it, I was getting together with friends and talking about it, we sort of had our own little wake...:)
This is very similiar to Diana to me. I was so sad when she died, I could not believe it. So young and such a good person.

Yeah Di's death hit me hard too.
I cried and cried over that and if anyone ever says anything about Di to this day..look out lol :p
I guess her death was even more tragic actually, at least Steve died doing his thing and he knew more than anyone the risks...
I would have an even harder time coming to terms with his death if he had died in a car accident.

I tried to get on his website www.crocodilehunter.com and I cant, I think it is down or too busy.

I think it's just busy, Michelle. I tried for a couple hours last night, after my post #181, to get the url to make the link clickable`and was unable.

I'm pretty sure his Dad is still alive, but I haven't heard anything about how he is etc.

Hi Shelly

I don't mind at all :)
Reading this thread has helped me too.

You're right about WS, what a great place!
I couldn't stand to read anything bad said about Steve and luckily I didn't really have to here, the odd couple of posts that were derogatory I just ignored for the most part.

narla, We don't allow posts that bash a victim. They are normally deleted. If there is any here that are still here and any of you want deleted, PM me the post number and I'll do it right away. But, Jeana is normally on the job as far as that goes.

I never watched Steve Erwin but have watched all the footage I can in the last two days about him. What a wonderful and couragous man he seemed to be. So full of energy. I don't know where the spot is that people have started putting flowers and gifts but from what I saw tonight it will be huge in the days to come.

I know his mother passed away. They showed footage last night, and I remember the one where he talked about losing his mother.

I too was shaken up and in total shock w/ Diana's death. I was also really upset when John Kennedy Jr. died. I was glued to the TV as the water was searched for him. He was another one that died way too early.

Thanks Bee Bee!
Yeah I'm sure Jeana is on the ball :)

Probably it wasn't 'bashing' as such, I just didn't appreciate someone saying he was an idiot, I forget who said it and what the post number was..
The spot is his zoo, Australia Zoo up in Queensland, so many people have come from all around Oz to put flowers and stuff there.

Hey Narla! I am under the impression that the family also resided on the zoo premises. Is that correct, do you know?

Is that the same location, that was formerly known as the Beerwah Reptile Park where Steve himself was raised as a boy? TIA! :)

Thank you for the link above with the quote from Steve's dad. I'm going to read it now!

ETA After reading the link you provided, one of my questions was answered. "She has remained with the couple's young children Bindi and Bob in the family home at Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, keeping a low profile since the shock death of her husband."

Awwwwe. Everything I read makes me sadder. I know from my brother getting a stingray barb in his hand Steve likely pulled it out not realising it had hit ihis heart. It is very very painful. My brother cried on the way to the hospital and he was in his 30's. I think the venom could have even stopped his heart quickly.

My brother had to take antibiotics due to the nasty bacteria on the barb.
We grew up on the bay and the gulf. We were taught to shuffle our feet and beware of the stingrays which were every where. This is truly a rare happening.
I feel so sad, it as if he were someone I knew. God bless little Bindi and Robert and his wife. They loved the wild and fought to conserve. I hope his family is coping well. He did risk death everyday. Such a sad loss of a man too young to die.

Hi BeeBee and posters here,

I PM'ed Texas 1, our Mod for this thread, and asked her to please delete my post #5 as I could no longer do that.

I told her I always thought Steve made a mistake, but in retrospect I have realized posting this thought on the thread regarding his tragic death, was in poor taste for me to mention here. This is where everyone is coming together to remember all the good things he did in his life, and there are so many positive things about Steve and his life that are important and will always live on.

Thanks, Scandi

Hey Liz :)

Yes, that is the same location, his Dad opened the park when he was a kid.

He was catching snakes (brown snakes  ) when he was only 4!!
His Mum was into saving and looking after things other than reptiles..like baby joeys, koalas, possums....he literally grew up in a zoo lol
He said it was nothing to be walking down the hallway and for a sugar glider to come and land on his head, every kitchen chair had a pouch in it with a joey in it...what a magical childhood :)

Steve Irwin was such a colorful character, and so full of enthusiasm and joy in his work. I was shocked when I heard that he'd died, but at least it was doing what he loved.

Steve Irwin was an amazing man who brought Conservation and the vital role of wild life to keep this planet functioning to a mainstream audience.
What has really astounded me more about his life then about his death is the impact his work actually held in the hearts and minds of American Youth. My children, all adults and in their twentys have been grieving for this man. I knew they had been entertained by him for years but was not aware of how significantly he had helped them develop their love for animals and the environment. For two days they have been calling, emailing and text messaging each other with little snippets that come to mind or a bit of information they learned from Steve Irwin or remember about him.

If his legacy was to reach the hearts and minds of a generation he was successful.
May his family find peace and his legacy go forward and continue to grow.

Hi Scandi,:)
I responded to your #8 post stating that I agreed with you.It has a quote to your post.My post is #61.
I would like this removed also.I sat and watched Animal Planet on monday and I watched the part where he explained the part with his son and the croc. When that incident took place the media was all over it.I regret to say that I listened to their side.It was not until I watched Steve explain in his own words and emotion what really happened.Even though that interview was dated 20june2004,I did not see it until monday.(I watched it more than once.)
I am happy that you want to have your post removed, because while I was watching him explain,I felt guilty thinking that he put his son in danger.
I am going to PM Texas and ask for the post to be removed.
Respectfully,
dark_shadows
