The thought of driving on the left scares the poop out of me.If I come to the U.S everyone will be flipping the bird at me because I'd be sure to drive on the wrong side. Oh, Boy better stay home.;) ;)

But Sweetie, you do drive on the left! :woohoo:

i hope . . .

trust me, as one who has had to change driving sides (not in the same country) a few times in life, after around 20 or so minutes you stop smashing your hand against the door when trying to change gear! :D

and then you go with the flow. only dodgy thing is junctions, but you have to stay alert.

i'm now much more trained to naturally drive on the right after learning and spending my formative driving years on the left. i've been for the last 10 or so years driving on the right.

although i know i'd still be able to drive on the left.

I do have to put some of those words in a page in the dictionary.
Oh my.......some of the words are totally opposite of what we say them for.
I can think of a few but, better not go there......(F's list) Not what your thinking either........
No wonder why we get confused sometimes with each others words.
How interesting.
wink.gif
........
Of course we have our own slang that probably would mix everything up also.
So I will have to learn those words of yours.
Today I went again to Steves Memorial.......listened to that song again.
Wondering if I can order it somehow.....will look into that.
Talk soon..........Goodday ta' ya'......

Hello Dingo,
I cannot believe you said this...
This is the same thing we did in Jersey where I am from.We also flipped "the bird" to each other if we drove past each other on the road.(it was a hello sign to a friend)
Cannot do that here in Vt.
I miss Jersey.

Hi Sunday:D True Blue means to be real..staunch...and to stand up for what you believe in...our flag is also blue...so that comes into it as well.
This link explains alot of our Aussie lingo and our different meanings to some words...........
http://www.aussieslang.com/default.asp

I know all about "True Blue" and I have lived in the good old USA all my life. lol It is common usage in Georgia. Yep, true blue... that is the best way to be. "the genuine deal" "no pretenses" "honest".

LOL Also I knew exactly what you meant when you said "grafting" when talking about Bindi being like both of her parents.

It was absolutely a wonderful memorial. I will watch it again many times I imagine. Doesn't take me long to start missing Steve's happy face. I have always watched Animal Planet but since his passing I have watched him even more.

What a wonderful legacy he left ........so many things he showed us.......a devoted father, husband, son and wildlife warrior. And I have not heard one person who had met him personally that did not like him. How many of us could say we touched everyone's life in a positive way we have come in contact with?

He is missed...oh yes ...he is......and will never be replaced. Steve was a one of a kind and not only do the crocodiles cry........millions of humans do too.

IMO

I heard it said about Steve the other day...that he was rough....but he was real.......I thought that summed him up nicely.

Yes that was in the poem..."The crocodiles are crying" But in ways he was as gentle of a man as he could be. I can hardly stand to see him crying over the loss of his mother or the croc who died or his devoted dog. He was a man with a deep heart for so many. He genuinely felt love and gave it in return.

Such a wonderful mixture. Our children have lost a role model and Lord knows they arent many of them out there these days.

Oh my I don't know how we got from what "blue" is, to what "bird" is........
But, I grew up in New Jersey.......so ya mean everyone was just saying "Hello" to me all those years that I cut them off in my car. So......hummm......the arm went out the window to say "Hi, Hello, how are Ya"......:)......
Naaaaaaaaaa.. I don't think so...... I watched the driver of the car I was in just last week in NJ.....put her arm out the window.......the same time as the guy in the vet was sporting by, in his convertiable,at high speed trying to cut her off ........I guess since it was in NJ they were saying "hello"................oh........LOL........I am bent over with hysterics right now........tooo funny to think about..... Guess I got a lot of HELLOS....emhum
Hello Sundayrain,:)

Ocean.......yeah, the "grafting" was a pure 100% joke.....I thought the word was extremely cute. ( just a joke for Dingo)
The "true blue".....we don't use here up North.....but, I like it.........
The songs were just such a wonderful addition to a great Memorial.
I play that "Changed the World" song everyday from the thread given......

I know Dingo that was a sad story too.........
The heart.........just about the worst place for the barb.
I still find myself humming his song.......without even thinking......
Your hearts are going to be broken for awhile. I wish I could be there and we could have a gathering. Always thinking of the Aussie girls......and your beautiful country........and Steve. He was special.

  • #757
He certainly was special.

My 8 yr old was watching the memorial and when it came to the part about Steve's Mum and how he was born on his Mum's birthday, he turned to look at me and he goes 'Mum that's a sign that Steve was born on his Mum's birthday....that he was special and that he was going to be famous!'

You gotta love kids :)

I don't think I can watch the interview with Terri and Bindi.
Enough already.
Why do we have to hear the words from her mouth, we all know she is devastated...
Sunday, we think of you too and if you ever get to Oz, come visit!

  • #758
Has Terri been able to talk at all. I havn't heard her over here.
I think this may be awfully hard for her.
A bit early to be able to even put words into a thought.
So is it where she is going to talk with Barbara Walters? I don't know when that will run here yet.
I'm sure you wish it was your own interviewer. I don't know how this happened with Barbara. She does go for the hard to get interviews.......
I am going to listen to that song again.......Do I like it or what? Sunday
innocent1.gif

Yes, narla it is Sunday here for me.......wishing for Monday.

  • #759
Hi Sunday :)

Terri hasn't spoken, no.
Her first interview is with Walters and like I have said previously, I would be offended by this if Terri wasn't American.
In the link I provided earlier, Walters is quoted as saying something about Bob, yet not even knowing his name.

  • #760
Yes I thought so..........
Sorry I locked up this computer and had to shut down and restart.......
waitasec.gif

Well.......I wish Teri would have gone with one of your people first.
She lives there and worked so hard with Steve to make a wonderful place for animals........
But.......I think it will be so hard for her........don't know how she will get through it..........
