Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter, Is Dead

I have read the many posts here and I cannot but share my condolences to the Irwin family for the loss of their husband, father, son and friend. Steve Irwin's death was no more than a freak and tragic accident. Blessings to all who knew him, loved him, and admired him.

Greer sounds like a woman who is miserable, judgemental (on SO many levels!), and grandly fixed on her very own whacked opinions. A gnat who has taken this time of grief for many to "state" her redicioulous opinions against a man and his family who cannot defend themselves at this horrible time. 3 minutes of fame..maybe 2.

I loved the Lord of the Rings Trilogy movies. A-mazing!!! Perhaps this lady will crawl back under whatever moss covered rock she lives under and we will not hear from her again. Well, at least until another person is innocently killed who lived trying to educate the many.

Salute to a man who cared, protected, and lived to educate many about animals/reptiles.

Jeanna was so right, Germaine Greer is a sad, bitter old woman. She was born in Oz and sticks her bib in just about any topic, to cause controversy because that's all she's got.

I am sorry, I agree with her wholeheartedly. There have been numerous experts who also agreed on TV in the UK.
I dont like to speak ill of the dead, and I am very sorry this accident happened but my opinion of Steve Irwin cannot change.
We NEVER saw normal, natural animal behaviour on his shows, we saw animals being terrified most of the time.
I cannot believe people dont see this. Compare him to David Atteborough, who has educated us for 50 years on animal matters without interfering with them or stressing them.
I think Steve was a fun, good looking guy who didnt deserve what happened to him but I seperate that from his jumping from a moving jeep onto an animals back as it tried to flee.
I am sorry if I offend you and maybe now isnt the time to debate his treatment of animals but we all have an opinion and are allowed to express it.

Irwin never harmed an animal in his life, he was all about saving them, I'm sorry you've missed that.

The wild animal is of course going to be scared by human contact, but half the world didn't know the animals existed and what may be happening to their enviroment, Steve just wanted everyone to see what truly amazing wonderful creatures are out there and how we can help to protect them.

He was truly smooching it right on the mouth. To most of us that would be huge on the ewwww scale but he loved all animals, even the smelly ones.

I can only say that in most of the shows that I got to see, Steve was very kind to the animals and reptiles.
In one show he stopped to save a snake from the middle of the road, he gave us a look, then set him off of the road in a safe area.
He took other slow moving animals off of roads so they wouldn't get injured. After showing the world some very poisonous snake, he'd put it back in its rock den. He moved the croc's since he was very young. Also, to heal ones injury or change its location.
Yes, he picked animals up to give us the close-up personal view.....but, no harm came to them. I'd watch him ever so gently place the animal back. Also, to note how he gave children educational boxes of animal information .......free.......at his own expense.
The Komoto Dragon story was my favorite. He never hurt a one, nor handled one.....but, they sure could of hurt him. So dangerous......he was always on the edge.....what a great storyteller he was!
I am so going to miss his great adventures.........

I'm not a big crier, but I can't talk about sweet little Bindi without choking up. I hope my child and my dh are close like Steve and Bindi. Not just love each other, but have a relationship all their own and do things together, even if I'm not always included. I know that sounds kind of "duh" but I don't have that kind of relationship with my dad. I love him and know he loves me, but he was always more of a "put a roof over our head" kind of father, and not so much hands on. And that's the relationship my dh had with his own father, so this will be "unchartered territory" for us.

I know that Bindi knows her father was crazy about her, and I send her love and a big hug. I would do anything for her if it would take away the hurt.

Shes a bitter old with no heart......she might have been born here but she is not even close to being an Aussie .England can keep her... we sure as hell dont want her back here.....she has burnt her bridges this time.

Great guy. My son used to watch him, but really I never did. It's strange that so often we don't fully appreciate someone until they pass away.
