I'd like to leave an echo...Whispering softly down the ways of happy times, and Laughing times, and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the Sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done...

Beautiful!!! I've been weepy all week. First it was Steve and second, this is the week leading up the five year anniversary of 9/11 and there are all kinds of specials on. Primetime (I think that's the show) is having a special on tonight about the babies that we born after the attacks to the widows. They had a snip the other morning and all these toddlers were being photographed together and they were playing the song "I'm already there" (can't tell you who sings it because I rarely listen to country, but it was beautiful) I was bawling then, too. Sad week.

Steve Irwin, was many things to many people. He was an Educator, a philanthropist, a father, a husband, a conservationist. and most of all he was a human being. His death at such a young age is a tragedy of the worst kind. The fact that some people choose to publicly pass cruel harsh nasty judgment on this man at this time is repulsive to me. His family is grieving and in pain and desirves nothing more then the support and comfort from the world. I don't care whether or not a person agrees or diagress with how Mr. Irwin conducted himself with animals. Save the debate for an animal ethics class and give Mr. Irwins family the support and love they desrvie and let Mr. Irwin rest in piece. Prehaps these people who are so concerned about the treatment of animlas might be a little more concerned with how they treat there fellow man.

Ok......I just printed it out for myself...Otherwise all I had was on scraps of paper. I find if I fiddle with something to much.....it becomes something other then it was. So I will just get the punctuation right and send it over to you.

Steves Poem
The hunter had to leave us, he won't travel on our shores.
At that, the largest in the pack let out a sad, long, roar.........
The koalas had a teardrop, the dingos had some too.......the Croc's
stood at attention, as the Aussies knew they would.
The animals got silent...the jungle became still....Some leaves bent down to
touch the ground, and the flowers turned to wilt.
For the man they loved "downunder," has left his land of birth. But his heart and soul, and wisdom......remain right here on Earth.
And as the night stars came aglow the world shed many tears.
But......a whisper could be heard nearby, that rang into our ears.
"By Crikey Mates, Good Day, Good Night......"
I had to say "goodbye" .......
But, "hold my children and my wife and please don't let them cry."
And as he turned and walked away..... we felt the whole earth pray......
And in our hearts we know that.... we will meet again oneday.

Thank you everybody.......But Steve deserves all of the thanks we can muster...Because he showed us animals up close and personal. Everyone learned so much. Wasn't the World so much better that he was here?.......
I learned so much from him, everyone did. I don't think the little animals really minded being handled for a few minutes.....to benefit mankind. This week we will have another sad day to remember here....the day that changed America forever.Too much sadness for one week.........

I don't mean to hijack the Steve Irwin thread but just wanted to say, I watched Primetime tonight and the song caught me completely off guard. It felt as though my heart were being ripped out and I started to cry. I sure wasn't expecting that song after all the other sad things!

My heart is breaking for Terri, Bindi, Bob, Steve's Dad and all their families, friends and co-workers.

I have not slept one full night, since Monday. I was and still am, in shock.

It wasn't like I was a huge fan and watched every show of Steve's. I always enjoyed his shows and loved his way with the Aussie language and his absolute love of all creatures great and small. I loved to see him and Terri, Bindi and Bob together, such a happy family, with so much love between them.

I feel like I did when Diana died. I did not know either of them but am grieving for them. I still cannot watch footage of Diana without getting teary. My eldest dau bought me the most beautiful tribute book to Diana for Christmas and I still cannot get past the first few pages, without tearing up, so I just close it and put it away.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I just don't get why these things happen. There are some evil people on this planet walking around and here were 2 people who did so much to make the world a better place and they are gone.

I am just so sad and I cannot imagine the pain that Terri is in. Their union was one of 2 soulmates coming together and then bringing 2 beautiful babies into their lives, it just seems so unfair.

I haven't even touched on all the great things Steve did for the Animal Kingdom. He truly was an Aussie Legend who had such passion for everything!

Thankyou Steve for being who you were and making the world a better place, you will be missed!
