I hate Geraldo Rivera. :furious:

He's on O'Reilly saying about Steve: "If you stick your head in enough lions' dens...you're gonna get it eventually."

Steve was worth a million of Geraldo!!!

The video was so tearful...and it is one of my favorite songs from
Luther Vandross who also died at a young age from stroke complications.
Just beautiful, thank you....Sunday

Englishleigh,

As I stated earlier, odds are that Steve would meet his end in some sort of accident involving animals based solely on his repeated exposure to them. Steve himself probably understood that likelihood; however, comments such as those by Geraldo and others are simply uncalled for, callous, and mean-spirited IMO. What purpose do they serve but to create controversy, spark discussion, and call attention to themselves to some degree? People understand the risks that Steve took. Pointing a finger and laying blame are not productive. Why others feel the need to belittle someone upon their death because of risks, faults, errors, etc. is beyond me. Everyone has those - no one is perfect. Why do they have to be so pointedly exposed? Remember the man for the passion he so genuinely had for his work. Remember him for the countless children (and adults) that he touched with his humor, knowledge, and dedication to the cause of conservation. Remember him for the ever-present love and devotion to his wife and children. His family and fans around the world are grieving and simply showing compassion would have been a much classier stand to take.

SO very true, Kellee!! And no one could ever accuse Geraldo of being classy, that's for sure.

I have not been reading all this thread because it just really rips me up. So it may be mentioned already. But in the People Mag there is an ad from Animal Planet that is really moving. I don;t mean the article, but the farewell ad by Animal Planet. One full page, really touching.

Hi Englishleigh,
Geraldo is a hypocrite.
Here is a site if you want to read it.
link
Rivera's recent antics in Afghanistan only reinforce the perception that this man is so full of himself that he won't let professionalism and journalistic ethics get in his way. He lets his ego drive his work. He has behaved with a reckless abandon that jeopardizes himself and others. Now he is accused of making up elements of a story.

Geraldo has no right to utter Steve's name from his lips. The two cannot be compared.
Steve had studied animals since he was a young child. He knew the behavior and inner workings. He did this to help the animals. He was in the media to help animals.Geraldo was in the media to help his ego..

Yes, that was very touching and I admire Animal Planet for that. I bought the magazine for the article about Steve and then just flipped through the pages and turned to find the ad. That really moved me. I had to show it to my dh tonight while we were watching, yet again some footage of Steve and Teri. I can't believe how his death has effected me. I even dreamed that this was all a hoax and he faked his death. Gosh how I wish that was true. If there truly was one wish I could have right now, it would be to rewind the clock and have Steve back for Teri and the children. So many people have close calls everyday. I've watched Trauma shows where someone was shot, yet the bullet missed all the vital organs, or one was stabbed, yet missed the heart by 1/4 inch. So many near misses happen everyday, yet poor Steve has a ray hit him bullseye in his heart. I've just got to accept that it was his time, for some unknown reason. When I get to heaven, my first question is going to be, "why Steve?" Why him when there's so many creeps walking the earth and stalking innocent victims? I know there's thousands of unexplained deaths that upset me. Steve's was just such a total shocker, partly because I felt like I knew him and didn't expect something to happen to him yet. If I'm like this over him, I can only imagine what Teri is going through. My continued prayers go out to her and her family.

I just watched a segment on Larry King Live with guests John Stainton and Philippe Cousteau. John Stainton said that the last documentary Steve was in the process of filming, "Ocean's Deadliest", has now been completed. He said it had to be done very covertly, so as to avoid the attention of the media.

King asked Philippe if the stingray was involved in the documentary. Philippe said ironically, no it was not; that the stingray is not among the ocean's deadliest. In fact, he stated that humankind were the ocean's deadliest, and that is the end-goal of the documentary ... conservationism.

Philippe stated filming the rest of the docu was very difficult to do, but that he knew that's what Steve would have wanted.

Kudos to the film crew!

I think Dark Shadows and Scandi are very honorable people who looked into the facts a bit more, and realized what a great man Steve Irwin was.
Really.......I didn't see where you wrote ......But, it takes a special person to admit a mistake. It was another posting early on that had me in shock.
Nothing to do with you both.....YOU both have wonderful hearts.http://www.websleuths.com/forums/images/smilies/angel.gif
I am going to have to say something here Sunday, as much as I like you :)

It doesn't take a special person to admit a mistake, it takes a decent person!!

Scandi never said she was taking anything back, what she said was that she shouldn't have said what she said at this time.
I don't think she looked into the facts a bit more at all.

What you said about Dark Shadows was spot on though :)

FAMILY and friends of Steve Irwin gathered on Queensland's Sunshine Coast tonight for a private funeral service for the Crocodile Hunter.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,20382771-5001028,00.html

Irwin, 44, died on Monday after he was pierced in the heart by a stingray's barb while filming a documentary off the far north Queensland coast, prompting shock and grief worldwide.

While a public memorial service will be held for the environmentalist and media personality within the next two weeks, his friend and manager John Stainton has insisted the funeral would be private.
