'Keep Australia Beautiful' is quite something too. :)

Australia is so unappreciated in the wider world. i'm lucky enough to have made a visit. i wonder if i will ever be lucky again.
Thank you Floh......We know how lucky we are........our country is sometimes passed off as a joke.....we laugh at ourselves all the time.......but when it comes to mate looking after mate...we have no boundries:o

Mr Stainton said the fraudulent behaviour was un-Australian.

"Steve would be absolutely appalled by this," he said.

"The fact that people are cashing in, so to speak, on his legacy, trying to sell stuff like that for fundraising supposedly or even resale of the tickets for the memorial service.

"All of those things are really just not on and they're just not Australian."

Appalling behaviour! :furious:

the plans for the memorial service sound right-on! :woohoo:

dingo,
i don't think your country is a joke-i think it's awesome and i want to visit someday. i think it's great that you can laugh at yourself, but know that a little five foot, two blonde/redhead teacher named ellen from the united states is not laughing because i have the upmost respect for you and all the aussies on this board. we know that aussies are good people so know that i love you guys!! always hav:clap:e!! i'm sad in my heart that people would think that you're country is a joke. just because you're wonderful people, what? people think they can make fun? disgusting. people shouldn't confuse nice with weak. i wish americans were more like aussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all my best,
ellen

My Aussie friends......
I just wanted you to know I have never heard anything bad about your country ......not ever.
My cousins one son was working there for a couple of years. I have to write and ask her if he is still there ( and exactly where). They went to see him not that long ago in Australia. His Mom was so proud he was over there that she told me everytime I bumped into her.
I have only heard nice things. Oh to have all the ocean around me I'd be in my glory.
You have only ONE problem......you are so, so FAR. ( darn )
Your 9 hours from Hawaii. That 11 hours "to" Hawaii was sooooo long.
You live in a wonderful place and your very lucky.
Now ......if I could just get that time straight!
( don't worry I am ok for Tues. 6/7PM) Thinking of you all.....Sunday

She did Dark, but she didn't retract her comments regarding Steve and Bob.
What she said was, she shouldn't have said what she said at this time.
I dont really care what she thinks but I'm not letting her get praise where it's not warranted.

I'm sorry Narlacat, but when I write a post admitting I was wrong and that I should have counted to 10 before I wrote it, that is what should mean something.

I am not a mean person. I had no idea this thread was going to become a memorial thread to Steve. I wrote my posts only hours after we found out he was gone. And had I used my better judgement I never would have written what I did. You obviously never accepted my apology. I stated I had learned a lot of things about Steve in my reading since he died.

So now I'm starting to get PM's that I have business to take care of regarding what I said. What more could or should I do? I wrote to our Mod and asked her to please remove any posts I had written that were offensive to anyone, and also to the posts {2 in particular} where I had been quoted and the comments were in caps, and that would have to be done with that posters permission.

I am not a bad poster. I mean well. I try hard to blend in and work within the scope of the forum. I have never had a time-out or been asked to leave. I respect my fellow posters feelings. I have tried to ammend comments I made that were offensive to some posters. The Mod told me that had been done.

I have refrained from other comments I could have made that are factual but were out of place to say on this, a memorial thread. I never said anything against Bob. I was wrong about some facts and admitted that, but there was something that gave me a start, and I never even explained what it was as there was no need at that point.

So what I am really saying is I should no longer be on the spot. Please take me off of it!~

Scandi you are one of the most gracious posters on this board. Please don't explain yourself anymore. There is no need.
I look forward to all your posts.:blowkiss:

HI Dingo. I would love to get to Australia one day. I think when I travel it will be one of my first choices. I have never thought poorly of your country and I will speak up in the future if I should hear anything negative.
Thanks for posting about Steve..I just cry every time I see a video or read another story.
God Bless that family!

Always loved Australia like the UK. You have our backs and we have your. Steve's death hurt my heart. I loved him, my children loved him. I am glad his wife had 2 children for him.

I am sad, I see him as more than a conservationist, more and educational fun loving wild living great person.

Scandi! :blowkiss: I'm sorry to read that you continue to be harassed. Sometimes it's just not good enough for some people who imo must have an ulterior motive at this point.

Hopefully this post of yours will show these people the genuinely sincere person that you are.
