Found Deceased Susan Lane-Fournier aka "Phoenix" missing since 11/21/24 - vehicle found on Salmon River Road *Arrest*

This might have been mentioned (with the holiday I didn't see every post). The husband is a trucker (trucking record from a Canadian DOT source here with addresses and driving info: <modsnip: Removed broken link> I'm assuming the second degree because it wasn't planned (premediated). Being a trucker, with a knowledge of the road system likely better than most people, and a way to transport a body, or key evidence far, far away, I personally think if he'd planned this ahead her body would not have ever been found. My heart hurts for this one. My thoughts go out to all that loved her.

Clackamas County investigators have not said if any new evidence was collected during the search.

Earlier this month, Lane-Fournier filed for divorce against her husband of 12 years, according to court documents. It’s unclear if the divorce has any connection to her disappearance.

There is a Timeline by community members in this article.

The last reported sighting was around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, when she was leaving work with her two wolf-hybrid dogs at Hoodland Bazaar in Welches.

Multiple people, including Gesch, relayed that Lane-Fournier had expressed fear for her and her dogs in the time leading up to her disappearance. ...

As soon as I read that Susan had recently filed for divorce and was afraid for herself and her dogs above, I, like many of you, suspected where this was headed.

I think given that she was afraid for her dogs, that’s why she took them with her to work even if she had to leave them in the truck and they weren’t friendly. Sadly, it appears her estranged husband was lying in wait for her when she got home from work and her worst fears materialized. I have no illusions that those dogs are still alive either.

She looks like such a fun vibrant person in all her pictures. His mugshot on the other hand radiates meanness to me.

Another lovely woman taken out by a piece of crap man who can’t handle divorce. When will it ever stop?!?

But it was not until Saturday afternoon when officials identified the body as that of Susan Lane-Fournier, who was previously reported missing on Nov. 22, along with her two dogs.
Fournier’s body was discovered four miles from where her truck was found, authorities said. However, the dogs have not been found at this time.

Thank you for this article. It's the only one I've seen so far with details about the friend who found her. He says he's going to look for her dogs tomorrow. :(

From the article:

“I went down the path, maybe 20 yards. I’ve seen some tarp. I thought it was trash,” Evans told KOIN 6 News. “I bent over to pick up the tarp and as I bent over and came up, I seen a pair of boots connected to a leg.”

“I directly dropped the tarp, backed up, gathered myself together, turned around and went to the lodge and had the office call 911 immediately,” he said. “It was pretty heartbreaking.”

CCSO Case # 24-024698

Divorce proceedings dated Oct. 31 were filed by Lane in Clackamas County Circuit Court against her husband of 12 years. They were married on May 5, 2012, in Welches. A petition for dissolution of marriage states "irreconcilable differences between the parties have caused an irremediable breakdown of their marriage." They were both still legally married at the time of Lane-Fournier's disappearance and death

I agree. This is why it is extremely important to speak up, tell friends if you are afraid and of whom, let others know what you are facing. Silence gives advantage to abusers.

As for the dogs, IMO either they are somewhere around - as you say- or he brought them far while still in the truck, and this would be why the truck was found 4 mi away. Double diversion.

I personally cannot see how all this was not a bit premeditated. He probably knew he had to get rid of the dogs which would have protected her. He knew at what time she would be back from work.
Otherwise you just accept your divorce papers when they try to serve them to you and you do not go in person to see your wife, from whom probably you were already estranged. JMO
However, hiding her under a tarp, not far from her house, this gives reasonable doubt he did not prepare to hide her body.
Actually I don’t know…

What I fail to get however, is why LE did not get a warrant to search her property earlier. It was obvious to me at least, that she would not have missed work to go hiking. So the obvious place to look was her property.

It was reported that she was on FB chat with a friend at around 10:15am prior to going to work ( store opens at 11am). If she was the one who actually was chatting it had to happen on her way to work that day, not when she was coming home from work the night before which was the last actual reported sighting of her. IMO

According to one of her colleagues at the Hoodland Bazaar, Susan recently started bringing her dogs to work for her protection. He says for a couple of weeks before she went missing, she was afraid for her life. She didn't say why she felt unsafe, but they knew something was wrong when she didn't come to work. :(

The couple were both still legally married at the time of Lane-Fournier's disappearance and death. Neighbors told KGW the couple mostly kept to themselves, but lately, community members had been concerned for Lane-Fournier's safety.

"They were expecting it; a lot of people talked about domestic violence," said neighbor BSD. ...

fills me with rage to know that he killed them too
I wonder if he shot them cause otherwise they probably would've protected their mama and themselves
