I'm trying to figure out how the police didnt get him when they came upon him and he fired at them. Sounds like there was more than one police officer shooting at him and he was on foot- kind of puzzling. The car, clothing, and protective equipment he likely had relatively easy access to through the security company, but I agree that this was well-planned.
I highly doubt the security company had latex masks, so at a minimum he probably had to acquire that himself, plus he was somehow able to evade LE on foot after exchanging fire with them which leads me to believe he had some sort of contingency plan (‘go bags’ stashed nearby? An accomplice? Pre-planned exit routes?). MOO.
Sounds like he was out the back door before they could surround the house.I'm trying to figure out how the police didnt get him when they came upon him and he fired at them. Sounds like there was more than one police officer shooting at him and he was on foot- kind of puzzling.
He is pure evil-- spare me the mental illness- he is a psychopathSplit personality is not even the word. One supposedly doing good, the other and the insane org. he had and his murderous plans manifesto for a lot of other people. Is that insane or the twisted evil and psychotic mind as he saw himself in the world against 'evil'. sounds it. IMO He will be found and it has to be super fast, been too long. Cold blooded murderer. IMO

Yes. But also, he was an active shooter, potentially holed up inside the home. They wouldn't have stormed the place until the regrouped and secured it. All MOO.Other poster quote

When the officers arrived at the home where the shooting occurred they would have gone inside and encountered two person’s who had been shot, then attempt to render aid
Rendering aid to victims would be priority over catching Boelter

Carlson shared that Boetler, who was engaged in several ambitious business ventures including Praetorian Security Company and Red Lion Group, was experiencing financial trouble and struggled to find work, CNN reported.
“He was looking around, but maybe things didn’t work out and he just gave up and decided to go out in a blaze of glory,” Carlson said. “I have no idea what he was thinking.
When asked about the political leanings of Boetler, Carlson revealed that — despite once being a political appointee of the state’s Democratic Gov. Tim Walz — voted for President Donald Trump, but that he was not aware of his feelings on state politics, the report stated.

What a nightmare this one man created.
I hope he's captured alive and soon.

Sheer volume of responding LE at that point. Operating under both principles -- that he was barricaded in the home AND attempting to locate him if he fled on foot, which he had but they didn't yet know that IMO.I’m confused:
“Now that I have a second to explain it, they want you guys on standby. The shooter is still in the house, they believe barricaded with the firearms, and multiple different agencies are on scene, trying to locate if this individual is on foot, if he shot anybody else around the home. Just so you guys have a little bit more of an update as to what is going on there.”
He can’t be barricaded in the house while also trying to locate if he is on foot. Both can’t be true. What a conflicting statement.
JB/wife was stopped around 10am.Maybe early versions of the news have been overwritten. I can't find it now, but when LE went to the Green Isle home iirc, the family wasn't there.
Green Isle, MN has a population of about 500 and is located in the central of nowhere. No police department, just county police. Still, one they had the name, I'm sure LE mobilized quickly.
If the family was already not home, when did they leave?
It's possible that LE had not spoken at all to the family until they were stopped in Onamia, a straight shot to Canada.

Looking a bit further into his CV, things seem fine until he leaves Greencore in 2016, then things start to get sketchy. He claims to have spent five years as a general manager with 7-Eleven in Minneapolis. The problem with this is that 7-Eleven are headquartered in Texas and didn't even have stores in Minnesota in 2016.His LinkedIn shows nearly 50 endorsements, and he did get appointed to Minnesota's Workforce Development Board, so I suspect that the stuff about having managerial positions in the food industry probably isn't too far from the truth.

Police were first called to Hoffman’s residence around 2 a.m. in response to the initial shooting. Authorities then began conducting wellness checks on other local officials, according to Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
At 3:35 a.m., Brooklyn Park officers encountered the suspect at Hortman’s home. Officials said the suspect fired several rounds at officers before fleeing.
“We are going to have one confirmed shooting [victim] right now, possible more. We’ll just take one more truck staging in the area.”
“Confirmed shot, in cardiac arrest. We will be taking that one. No more confirmed shot at this time. They want another rig to stand in the area. They don’t know where the shooter is.”
“A suspect is barricaded in the house.”
“Code 3 to North [Memorial Health Hospital] with two riders.”
“Be advised, they want you guys on standby. I don’t have time explain it … The shooter is still in the house. They believe barricaded with the firearm. Multiple different agencies are on-scene trying to locate if this individual on foot, if he shot anybody else around the home.”
“Another victim in the house, can you confirm another rig is needed?”
“Be advised, we have one DOA [dead on arrival].”
After the gunman retreated back into the house, I think it took awhile before they searched the entire house.I responded to a post asking why they didn’t chase him down and catch him if he was on foot.
I didn’t say they ‘stormed the place’?
We know some facts but not all
They arrived due to someone calling 911 saying they heard shots fired- in the wee hours 2-3AM
When they arrived there was a ‘cop car’ in the driveway and a man coming out of the front door in uniform
That man fired at the officers and went back into the home. They don’t even know how many shooters they have…
They do now know one man is armed and willing to shoot them.
When they get to the front door there are nine bullet holes through it
Highly likely they encountered a person with multiple gun shot wounds as they enter to clear the home.
and then another gun shot victim as they walked through the home. They clear the home- he isn’t there
Both victims are alive
At some point he had come out the back door- not sure when
Two officers were busy- none was left to chase him as they were rendering aid.
What they didn’t do is sit outside when they knew he was in the home of a lawmaker in the wee hours of the morning- and they had been called because someone heard gun shots, and they had already been fired upon themselves. [Unless they were directed to do so like the officers at Uvalde]
They also didn’t run around back- or they would have caught him coming out the back door.
So they must have entered through the front door and encountered the two injured by gun shots while clearing the home- and they rendered aid.
Do I know what happened exactly? No, more details will come out as time passes.
But this makes sense and is one explanation as to why they didn’t chase him down and catch him if he was on foot.
They did their job, EMTs cannot enter until LE has cleared the scene of danger.

If I’m remembering right they saw Mr. Hortman near the door and pulled him out of the house. They used a drone to find her. I would imagine they were looking for the gunman as well. That must have taken some time. (I’ll see if i can find a link)

The text message, which Carlson read to reporters, said: "David and Ron, I love you guys. I made some choices, and you guys don't know anything about this, but I'm going to be gone for a while.
"May be dead shortly, so I just want to let you know I love you guys both and I wish it hadn't gone this way. I don't want to say anything more, I don't want to say anything more and implicate you in any way, because you guys don't know anything about this. But I love you guys and I'm sorry for all the trouble he has caused."
