SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

Who sells a car and an ebike to a random stranger for $900? That part of the story doesn't make sense to me.
Honestly, the buying of an e-bike from a random stranger isn't too crazy to me. People buy and sell literally anything on FB Marketplace and Craigslist all the time.

What IS crazy to me is that VB wanted to meet with this person at 7AM. I don't know who in their right mind would agree to meeting someone at 7AM for an item sale.

Oh totally. It's the price that seems crazy to me.

Sounds like, per the PCA, that it was a random encounter, they then took the bus together to the ebike owner's house. Sounds like the guy was riding the bike when VLB asked to buy it from him. Doesn't say why they took the bus. Maybe VLB didn't fade any money on him?

Bizarre.

If my husband texts me some weird statement about having gone to war and that "people" would come to our home all trigger happy and I DIDN'T know what he was up to ahead of time you know what I'm doing? Calling the dang police and getting immediately out of that house with my kids.

Know what I'm NOT doing? gathering up 10K in cash and passports for me and the kids as if to head for the border. But sure, that's just me.

GMAB 😒 IMO

I hope LE are looking hard at what she knew when. JS

Snipped from page 14, 15 of the charging document - linked above.

Sounds like she has enough information to fear for the safety of herself and kids. But not enough to know exactly why "people coming to the house armed and trigger happy" would be arriving. He's telling her to leave.

So until or if - she's arrested and charged with a crime related to the murders her husband committed. IMO, she is a victim and should be treated as such.
Agree. He neglected to mention that People"

Anyone would think they are buying stolen goods.

IDK, seems a little too coincidental. Hopefully, investigators will question everyone closely and do a full investigation.

Boelter has arrived for his first appearance in federal court

From CNN's Whitney Wild and Zoe Sottile

Vance Boelter, the 57-year-old charged with murder in the fatal shootings of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, has arrived for his first court appearance in federal court Monday afternoon.

He wore an orange jumpsuit and slippers and was unshackled while sitting next to a defense attorney in court.

Boelter faces six federal charges, including murder, stalking and firearms offenses. This is his first court appearance since he was arrested late Sunday night.

It’s Federal court so probably no cameras allowed
Crossing my fingers that he's actually charged with a crime. It's good the state is also filing charges.

Per the Federal Press Conference on how the fourth attempt, the assassination of Melissa Hortman, occurred:
  • Appx 3:30 AM, VB arrived at Hortman residence. Parked in their driveway with the vehicles emergency lights flashing
  • VB approached the home, wearing the same silicon mask and donning the same gear as mentioned previously
  • Before he entered the home, two officers arrived at the scene. They had been dispatched to check on Hortman, following Hoffman shooting
  • When responding officers arrived, they saw VB standing outside the residence. When VB saw the officers exiting their vehicle, he drew his weapon and fired
  • VB then rushed into the house through the front door, "firing into it"
  • VB repeatedly fired into the house, and upon entering, murdered the Hortmans.
  • Responding Officers fired at VB as he was entering the home, but he escaped out the back
  • VB discarded his 9mm, along with body armor and mask behind the home as he fled
The timeline is a bit confusing here. In reading the Probable Cause Affidavit, there are some differences.
  • During the Press Conference, it was stated the officers fired first beforeVB fired/entered into the home.
    • However, in the PCA, it is stated that, "[VB] fired several gunshots into the house as he moved forward, entering the Hortmans' house."
    • There is no mention in the PCA that responding officers fired at VB
  • PCA states that Mr. Hortman was found in the home's front doorway, lying on the floor
Minor differences, but did want to note them.

In federal court Monday, Vance Boelter said he cannot afford a private attorney to represent him against the six federal charges he faces, including murdering state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband with a firearm.

Boelter said he has a part-time job and makes about $540 per week, and has no other sources of income. He told the judge he owns his own home and has seven cars in his name.

The judge said it’s unlikely Boelter can afford a private attorney, given the seriousness of the charges and is going to recommend a federal public defender. He asked the public defender’s office to run a financial inquiry.

The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for June 27 at 11 a. m. local time.

Boelter was missing for nearly two days before Governor Tim Walz and law enforcement officials confirmed that they had arrested him in the woods near his home in Green Isle, Minn., on the night of June 15, per CBS News.
[snip]
"I love you guys. I’ve made some choices, and you guys don’t know anything about this, but I’m going to be gone for a while. I may be dead shortly," Boelter allegedly wrote. "So I just want to let you know that I love you guys both, and wish it hadn't gone this way. I don’t want to say anything more and implicate you in any way, because you guys don’t know anything about this. But I love you guys, and I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused.”
Who Is Vance Boelter? What to Know About the Man Accused of Shooting Minnesota Lawmakers

I notice he didn't advise the roommates that he loved so much that trigger happy "people" would likely be showing up at their residence. And he didn't advise them to leave.

Just making note in the differences between messages received by roommates and those received by wife and kids. Seems as if the messages to friends/roommates are a bit lengthier and more detailed. But then I suspect the ones to wife didn't need to be because she already knew or suspected what was happening prior. JMO

Nah, I dont think I would do what you said either.
Not sure what I do ,but it would be far from home when I did it.

Right?! I'd either call him to figure out what the heck he was talking about, or I'd be like "kids! We're having an....emergency special playground trip! Everyone get in the car right now! No don't look for your shoes first!" and call 911 from somewhere else. In no circumstance would I be like "ok, cool, possible gunfire at my house for unknown reasons, let me grab my evacuate to Canada stuff and just drive for a while with no clarification".

Perhaps they both had burner phones they used for other communication. LE will find out. They can do data dumps from local cell phone towers and trace them to owners. There aren't many people living in the area of their farm, so it shouldn't be difficult.
