“Boelter planned his attack carefully,” Thompson said at a Monday news conference. “He researched his victims and their families. He used the Internet and other tools to find their addresses and names, the names of the family members. He conducted surveillance of their homes and took notes about the location of their homes.

The Department of Justice is bringing “an array of federal charges” against Vance Boelter in the killing of a Minnesota state representative and her husband Saturday, according to the acting US Attorney.

If I’m not mistaken she was stopped at 10 am. This was long before anyone was named a suspect. We don’t know what she knew at that point. imo. Remember, he didn’t divulge to his room mates what he had done in order not to implicate them. My hunch is he didn’t tell his wife either.
Maybe they had some kind of vacation planned and that's why his wife had passports and cash. Like maybe he arranged for them to travel to Canada, thinking that it would be easier for him to escape capture there, but she thought they were just going to be on a vacation? I know sometimes when we travel I load the kids and stuff up and pick my husband up from work. Just speculating. It seems hard for me to believe that she wouldn't have been arrested if she had been trying to help him flee.

Transporting weapons into Canada seems problematic but I get your point.

Officials declined to respond to questions about whether or not VB made any confessions or statements after his capture.

I’ll just say imo and from the PC, she was cooperative when she was stopped. She had a firearm and there were valid reasons for what she had. They said they would just leave it at that.

I’m sure we will find out more in the upcoming days. imo

Or perhaps he had put weapons and cash in all the vehicles he had access to, not knowing which one he would be able to take in a moment's notice. Seems he had the "police car" and then the one he ditched, so maybe he had also placed weapons and cash in the car his wife was driving just in case. There are compartments in my SUV that these items could be put into and I certainly don't check all areas of my car every time I drive it. Just one way I could see there being money and guns and her not know it. Now passports, I don't know how common that would be to carry those around and why they were 2 hours from home that day her husband was being hunted by LE is also curious. I can see innocent reasons for all of this, but I can also see scenarios that she is involved somehow.

That is very true. I forgot she had weapons in the car. I think you can bring a gun to Canada for hunting but my guess is it wasn't that kind of gun. I am just having a hard time imagining a mom deliberately bringing children into a manhunt. If I were going to stand by my murderer man, I'd drop our kids off somewhere safe and come back for them later if we made it wherever we were going. Then again, if I knew my husband had a plan to kill people, I wouldn't agree to be his getaway car at all, so maybe what I would do isn't relevant. 😅

He probably thinks he's a hero.
Definitely. He has "otherized" women that don't agree with him, and sentenced them to death.

If he had a passport on him or in that car I would say that is why he was making his way to Green Isle.

He was foiled from killing many more by a real cop who guessed to send units to the other legislator's house.

The wife may have been fleeing away from her husband in fear of her and her children’s life if he said I’m coming home and she realized he had flipped his lid. Him coming home meant he was bringing the chaos to her front door. Would he kill his family and then himself. I would however flee to the police and not Canada.

He seems to have been radicalized in the Congo.

No way I'm giving his missus a pass until we hear more information. Gun(s?) in the vehicle, a lot of money and passports just before her husband goes on a shooting rampage doesn't paint her in an innocent light, imo.

Agree. (But I think she was stopped hours after his rampage? If so, that looks even worse imo.)

She was stopped after the rampage but before his name was publicly released. I agree it looks like she was helping him but surely she would have been arrested in that case?

I am going to say he's a misogynist if he's rabidly anti-abortion. The men who want to control women's bodies mindset.... Which fits right in with the list, sadly. MOO.

Agreed. It’s in line with the politics of a domestic terrorist group that a lot of people aren’t willing to acknowledge, which is anti–abortion violence. They have been one of the most fatal and violent domestic terrorist groups for decades, but instead of fighting back against them, our current government has repeatedly chosen to ignore or either passively or actively support their extremist views.

Much like the many fascist and extremist groups who function here and abroad, they are most often bound by misogyny. It’s a form of violence they can easily get away with globally, to one degree or another— the underlying notion being that violence against women isn’t viewed a real crime. You grow comfortable with violence perpetuated in the home, and that allows you to perpetuate it further. If misogynistic violence was taken seriously in the first place, we could stop so many of these men from committing acts of mass violence later.

Agree, but flight with those things sounds hasty not planned.

The Hortmans’ family dog was “humanely euthanized” after he was shot and injured during the shootings of the Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses.

Notwithstanding the fact that he had a list with the names of politicians on and it might appear that these were targeted assassinations, once he got into the properties he seems to have gone berserk and blasted away at everyone and everything that moved.
