SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

I think he was trying to make a living on his own, as he was 57 and his resume shows that he didn't have a lot of stability in employment. At 57, he wouldn't have very many lucrative options in the workforce, given his background. Since his wife also worked at the security company, I think it was legitimate, but probably not successful.

This video has a lot of information, including about the security company. It was in startup mode and hadn’t been fully launched. He was working on getting it started according to the friend of forty years.

Very strange indeed! I wonder if the wife knew about the other apartment? MOO but these disparate careers with not much of a logical progression/going up the ladder, and starting a security firm with his background and no references on its website, seem unusual for a man in his 50s with five children. IMO it feels like a resume of someone in their late 20s, early 30s, trying to figure out if there's a better path than the one they took straight out of university. Was the Praetorian firm a way for him to stockpile what he needed for what he'd planned for today? Aside from the obvious (today's events), I'm not really getting a handle on what he is.
He started a security firm in 1999 in Wisconsin so that part is nothing new. It was administratively dissolved in 2010 by the State after he was delinquent in filings. It was called Souljer Security LLC.

His longtime friend at the rental home told the reporter that last night, VD took him aside and told him how much his friendship meant to him. So now they realize it was his way of saying goodbye to them.

It sure does sound like suicide or suicide by cop.

Roomate says suspect was living there a few days a week when he was working a job at a mortuary that included removing eyeballs. This gets stranger by the minute...

Surely that's something you need specialized education and training for and that does not appear to be on his resume at all. Is this friend just making things up? MOO

This guy has a lot of ideas but seems to lack any kind of success with follow through.

I wonder what kid of financial problems he was having? Since he invested money in several of those cop car vehicles, maybe his cash flow was negative.

Can someone find that video again where he names the funeral homes he works for? Curious if they are in Minneapolis and thats why he stayed a couple days a week there?

I think it was VB who was making things up, not the friend. VB's job was just to transport bodies to funeral homes.

A reporter at the house said that she thought VB smashed the car window to make it look like someone tried to break into it. Not sure how that makes sense, but that's what she said.
Maybe he had keys for that car in the other car he left at the crime scene? If so he might have needed something inside the car so smashed the window to get in the car?

This is not a funny situation at all, but eyeball removals? Seriously?

I can see why someone would have to remove the eyes of cadavers for research purposes, if the body is donated to science.
I would guess that would be done by a company that preserves body parts for PT, nursing, dental and medical schools or research etc. for dissection.

Stranger still
IMO

According to an archived website for the ministry reviewed by WIRED, the suspected shooter’s missionary work took him to Gaza and the West Bank during the Second Intifada, where, the website states, he “sought out militant Islamists in order to share the gospel and tell them that violence wasn't the answer.

Snipped for focus, bbm.

This is just...lunacy. What kind of person thinks this is a sound idea?! Bananas.

ETA Now we know from MSM reporting that the security company was in the process of being established, it wasn't operational yet.
It was established in the sense that it was registered with the State and he had purchased equipment including vehicles but I doubt he had any clients. I agree, his resume seems very sketch and exaggerated. For example, he suggests he was in management at a couple of oil companies. I think he just managed a convenience store/gas station. Nothing wrong with that, just not the same as being an oil company executive.

According to this, the roommates notice the broken passenger side window of the vehicle, then they texted him. They then called authorities after hearing the reports of what happened.

They also said that the two vehicles he had were these security vehicles….so one was left at the last shooting and the other one left here….so maybe he had no other car?

That makes sense, probably what happened.

Sorry for the silly questions, but what is Red Lion Group? Is that a well-known organization?

Also what is private security? Like personal security for a person, or for a retail business?
We have a family friend, retired LAPD, who has been doing private security for many years. Sometimes it's sitting out in his car keeping an eye on things, sometimes it's traveling with the client. Interesting work for interesting people.
IMO.

I saw a blurb earlier that he actually transported bodies for funeral homes.
I'll see if I can find it again, but until then I'll say IMO.

Sen. John Hoffman’s wife, Yvette, saved the life of her daughter during the assassination attempt at their Champlin home early Saturday morning, according to Hoffman’s nephew.
A man dressed as a cop “broke into my aunt and uncle’s house and shot him 6 and my aunt 5 times in a political act of terrorism,” the nephew, Mat Ollig, wrote on Facebook. “My aunt threw herself on her daughter, using her body as a shield to save her life.”

The daughter, Hope, is in her 20s. In a Saturday afternoon interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune, Ollig said both Hoffmans were out of surgery and recovering.

“Fingers crossed that they remain stable,” Ollig said. ”This is just a huge shock. The guy has no enemies. Just a wholesome guy who wants the best for everyone.”
Her father has cited Hope’s disability (she was born with spina bifida) as a reason he went into state politics.
“Anyone that has met them knows how warm, caring, and genuinely kind they are to everyone, regardless of their politics,” Ollig wrote.

An old Luigi? Two data points, but I see a new trend in political/business assassins.

I guess you could say that about TK, but he at least ostracised himself and was clearly weird. These guys were stars up to a year before being full fledged assassins.

He reminds me of Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the New Orleans terror attacker. Estranged from family, possibly self important, big ideas, but disorganized.
