The Department of Justice is bringing “an array of federal charges” against Vance Boelter in the killing of a Minnesota state representative and her husband Saturday, according to the acting US Attorney.

That's why he was renting a room in north Minneapolis. He was within 10 miles of several potential victims and probably wandered around at night surveilling them. He most likely used different vehicles to inhibit being identified. The roommates at the Minneapolis house probably didn't think twice about his comings and goings.

So that’s why he took a part time job transporting dead bodies?

It seems VLB was living part-time in Minneapolis (where he rented a room from a friend), where he might have been developing his G.I. Rambo fantasy. Pretending he had some sort of secret service detail or somesuch nonsense, filling notebook after notebook with details that take no skill to find, parking outside important people's houses, making himself feel mighty powerful. Escaping real life. $540/mo (or was it /wk?) job. Career washout. How many different jobs did this guy bottom out of?

Sends his family away. Drives, bikes, crawls toward home. Was he hoping for a last stand? Defend his fortress? Starring in his own real life insane violent video game?

All to spend the rest of his life behind bars. Real life, his wife and five kids, must have been just too boring for his greatness.

So the real police pulled up to a car with police plates, was ignored by VB, and drove off? I have no idea if that's standard but you'd think the real police would have been alarmed that the guy in the other car ignored them. MOO

My guess is that the welfare check, and the need to verify the safety and wellbeing of the elected official, took precedence. It sounds like that officer was by herself, and when backup arrived, they did go look to see if they could find the strange man/vehicle.

Assuming he was wearing the silicon mask, though, I don’t know how a bigger red flag wasn’t raised.

I notice he didn't advise the roommates that he loved so much that trigger happy "people" would likely be showing up at their residence. And he didn't advise them to leave.

Just making note in the differences between messages received by roommates and those received by wife and kids. Seems as if the messages to friends/roommates are a bit lengthier and more detailed. But then I suspect the ones to wife didn't need to be because she already knew or suspected what was happening prior. JMO

What is odd also is he tells the roommates "you don't know anything about this".. why the need to say that? I hope it isn't him trying to cover for something. I guess no reason to think the roommates are involved at all, but why did he need to text that they didn't. obviously, they would know they didn't know anything. Was that for the police?

I'm thinkin' there's more to this story than meets the eye. Too many things don't add up in my thinking.

The big home on the small salary.
A shared apartment? Is that correct? With roomies?
Nobody else arrested at this time.
Nobody knew he was radical in his thinking?
He hid all his ammo and those several AK-47's and the sidearms from everybody?
Appears quite clean after 2 days on the run.

Access to a vehicle but caught near home?
Carrying his paperwork with him, the list of names...did he think he'd be able to reach 'em all?
So far nobody else arrested? Acted alone? A lone wolf? Hmmmmm
No matter motive of wife, passports, $$$, and guns during the spree? What's that all about?

I'm not jumping to conclusions on this cat. He's a twisted dude for sure, but there's more to this thing...

According to the PCA, the person who sold VB the e-bike and the Buick rode a bus with him and rode to the bank with VB in the Buick. I think this explains why there was a report on Saturday night about VB, the Buick and a person of interest. It was rather unclear at the time. MOO

I wonder if that random buy alerted police when he saw the news about the shootings. Surely he had to think this is odd to do this type of deal at 7am and for a stranger to show up on foot, then ride the bus, then be willing to ride in a complete strangers car to a bank.... If this was any other "deal" the buyer would be really stupid to do any of that.. he would be asking to get robbed. Did the seller not wonder why someone was willing to take all these risks at 7am to get a car and an ebike?

the friend/roommate he texted immediately called police after receiving it, worried his friend might be suicidal.

Mrs. Boelter's response is to grab cash and passports and load up their kids and head for the hills.

Why is it this way? Does the US have sub judice?

We do not have access to all information in an ongoing investigation, but do have some.
As a crime junkie I have heard experts warn the public that they have and know about 10% of the evidence that is in the hands of law enforcement.

The reasoning we the public is privy to information is due to an expectation of transparency. It is Our government, it is For the people, By the people, and Of the people.

In a sense We the People are the checks and balances over all three branches of the government- Executive
Legislative
Judicial

His look here just ain't what I was expecting for a man who was on the run in the Wisconsin outback for 2 days. To be honest, I'm shocked at his appearance here.

In federal court Monday, Vance Boelter said he cannot afford a private attorney to represent him against the six federal charges he faces, including murdering state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband with a firearm.

Boelter said he has a part-time job and makes about $540 per week, and has no other sources of income. He told the judge he owns his own home and has seven cars in his name.

The judge said it’s unlikely Boelter can afford a private attorney, given the seriousness of the charges and is going to recommend a federal public defender. He asked the public defender’s office to run a financial inquiry.

The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for June 27 at 11 a. m. local time.

I think we, maybe because we are on this site, have a hard time realizing how carelessly many other people operate. I know my husband got an earful from me when he tried to buy something through an online seller at their home. It was only after my urging that he agreed to meet the seller in a public place.
