Is a body bag a standard item in a prepper’s toolbox? Never heard of that particular thing if so. The groups I follow are more along the lines of homestead types, who focus on foodstuff, power supply, herbal medicines, animals, etc.
We had body bags in storage containers in the parking lot of a high end preschool I taught at. We had to be prepared if there was an earthquake and we/families were stuck for days.

I suppose it rather depends what you're prepping for. The 1970s British Government Public Information Film, 'Protect and Survive', informing the public about what to do in the event of a nuclear war, contained the following -

Infamously, it was advised that the body of anyone who died in the fallout room was to be placed in another room and covered as securely as possible with an attached identification (in the relevant film, separate identifications were to be attached to both the body and its covering)

Perhaps that was the sort of eventuality that he was thinking of.

Thanks! That makes sense within the context of that particular setting.

I think it was a deliberate choice to make himself look creepy, rather than disguised - it offered some disguise, but it also allowed people to see his ghastly scary face through that thing. Those masks are terrifying.

An actual mask with eye holes really limits vision and breathing. I can't imagine wearing a latex mask. His was described as the "Old Man" latex mask, available on Amazon. I wonder if he thought it would cause witnesses to be fooled from a distance.
At least the mask disguised identity sufficiently.

Five.

The most recent story IIRC said his wife was stopped, with four of the children. Presuming those four were still living at home. 4 + 1 = 5

No body bag for him.

Perhaps thst is less about family annihilation and a prepper readiness kit? In case you have loss of life during the stand off or in the bunker, then you're prepared, with a smell containment system? Last guy standing doesn't need one, no one to be bothered, no one to zip it.

This appears to be guy who has pony been marginally successful in life who believes he has intellectual property to save the country/planet but can't catch a break (in his mind) but feels qualified and competent and RIGHT. Because he'd been on Governor task forces, he sees himself as an insider, an agent.

Going to War. Except, army of one, the rest is just a construct he's been building in his head, while assembling an arsenal in his fortress.

I wonder if his family knew he quit his job in February.

And as been playing Special Ops, team of one ever since.

With deadly results.

JMO
It reminds me of groups or individuals who develop a grandiose belief that their terrorist-style actions will trigger some sort of apocalypse - Manson, etc.

The murders, bombings, etc., do shock and upset people, but the world actually just carries on as before.

I wonder if claiming to be preppers is just part of the ruse/plan? So if stopped by LE or confronted by anyone for having cash, guns, passports -- & now, even body bags -- just claim to be a prepper & folks will look the other way.

Personally, I think that's an excuse, not necessarily the reality. Jmo.

I haven’t kept up lately. Where did the prepper info originate from?

There’s an article in today’s Washington Post that quotes the FBI affidavit.

From the article: “…FBI agent Terry Getsch wrote in the affidavit. Getsch added that Boelter and his family were “preppers” — people who go to extreme lengths to prepare for catastrophic events that could require survival skills and stockpiles of supplies.”

Bailout plan - ok, was where she was stopped on the route of travel to WI?

I’m not sure where in WI she was heading to exactly. I will say, I’m very familiar with traveling Minnesota roads and the location she was pulled over doesn’t make any sense. My map isn’t great, but I circled Green Isle and Mille Lacs County in red to give you a better idea.

So what exactly did she think she was bailing out from?
Not quite buying the prepper stuff. Is that an automatic ticket out of explaining weird stuff?

The bailout plan is new to me, sounds weird like you say. But I also didn’t know they were preppers and had all those weapons. For what? To arm their own militia? I mean what would the wife have thought was going on?

I’m second guessing my thoughts on giving the benefit of doubt.

Onamia, MN.

Which is....in the opposite direction of Wisconsin if you are leaving from Green Isle.

I find it difficult to believe his wife didn't have some inkling that he was up to something. She may not have known specifics, but I bet she knew something. Why else would she just load up the kids and take off per his instructions, vs calling LE and telling them about the situation, or driving right to a police station?

I believe she at the very least knew the trigger happy "people" her husband warned her might show up at the house were law enforcement, hence her NOT calling authorities when receiving such an unusual text from her husband. Either such texts were normal, or she had an understanding from that one that LE was looking for her spouse and might show up at her house all "trigger happy".

Gee, wonder if those body bags along with a cover job of transporting human remains could be used to transport illegal weapons, drugs, sellable body parts, or even living human beings. Funeral homes themselves make good cover.

She is a Prepper too. No explanation was needed - just go.
