Boelter raised the same complaints in a phone call late Thursday to KSTP investigative reporter Ryan Raiche. Raiche sent a letter to Boelter last week to try to understand the reason behind the alleged attack.

Boelter refused to answer a question about his motive, but rambled about some two-year-long undercover investigation, which he did not explain.
Vance Boelter calls KSTP reporter from jail before federal court hearing

watch, this will turn out that VB is on some pizzagate bull 💩 or something equally delusional where in his mind he is saving the world from evil illuminati type behind the scenes power structure that runs the world.

My suspicion as well, based on his comments. He's going to accuse the victims of being part of some ridiculous conspiracy scheme. It will be the kind of fantasy these cult members come up with to justify their violent actions and to keep other cult members stirred up.

He doesn't strike me as someone working with some kind of cult, he strikes me as more of a lone wolf. I don't think even his wife knew what he was planning and going to do. Nor did his best friend from elementary school. So if it is a cult, it seems to me that it was a cult of one.

Not an actual physical cult, but a group of people with similar beliefs who lose touch with reality and embrace increasingly extreme views. Not to turn this political, but the other poster is referring to an increasingly large group of people that have been constantly fed propaganda and conspiracy theories that portray their political opponents as evil people who hate their country and need to be destroyed, etc. Eventually this can lead to 'extremist action' aka violence, toward 'the others'. That is what VB apparently believed he was doing - he "went to war" against these perceived enemies.

"David Carlson, a friend from whom Boelter rented a room, told reporters that Boelter was a conservative and watched news from Alex Jones’ Infowars platform."

We need to redefine what cults are to include those that exist on social media. JMO

This is a topic of interest to me and I thought you might consider this definition:
"
According to the Cult Education Institute, there are specific warning signs to look out for when considering whether a group might be a cult. Cults are characterized by:2

  1. Absolute authoritarianism without accountability
  2. Zero tolerance for criticism or questions
  3. Lack of meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget
  4. Unreasonable fears about the outside world that often involve evil conspiracies and persecutions
  5. A belief that former followers are always wrong for leaving and there is never a legitimate reason for anyone else to leave
  6. Abuse of members
  7. Records, books, articles, or programs documenting the abuses of the leader or group
  8. Followers feeling they are never able to be “good enough”
  9. A belief that the leader is right at all times
  10. A belief that the leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or giving validation

Cults are dangerous because they typically rely on deceptive and authoritarian practices to make members dependent on and obedient to the group. Cults often cut members off from other forms of social and financial support and pose both physical and psychological risks to members of the group."

So we're basically talking about the possible motives of people like Ryan Roth who tried to assassinate President Trump on one of his golf courses, and the 66-year old who attempted assassination of members of Congress on the Congressional baseball team and nearly killed Representative Scalise.

I agree that the demonization of our political opponents in the U.S. these days is very dangerous. At this time, however, I don't think we know if that was the motive of the MN shooter, and I hope we will find out at some point during the investigation and trial.

State Senator John Hoffman discharged from ICU today after being shot numerous times during assassination attempt. His family tells me he’s moving to a rehab facility and still has a long road ahead. ⁦
@kare11

Bless his heart and I always mean that sincerely. I'm glad he's able to go home and begin his long recovery. He was very seriously injured. No doubt it will take a very long time for all of his family to recover, both in body and spirit. Wishing them the best.

Yes, I think the important part about cults is that they aren't natural, spontaneous arising of similar thoughts by like-minded people (however much disturbed we judge them).

The real issue is that they are deliberately and cynically created as a power, sex and money grab by their leaders. The leaders are deliberately exploiting the weaknesses of their followers for their own personal and unshared benefit.

For eg, you and other like-minded people on the internet can believe in a conspiracy theory that, for eg, the Illuminati are controlling world events. But no one has love-bombed you to create your unwavering devotion to them as a superior being, demanded that you give up everything to go live on their compound, give them all your money, and live entirely according their dictates, no matter how absurd, that you cannot change your mind and leave without severe recrimination, etc.

Fortunately, cults are 'rare', but unfortunately they really do exist and are going on.

I do think today cults can exist on social media, without requiring people to leave their homes. They can be controlled via their social media interactions. The groups promoting them can have charismatic leaders who members worship, are abused by and don't question. They can be persuaded to donate or spend money in support of the "cause", money that they can't afford to spend on such things.

Very much so! People with really fringe beliefs can find each other much more easily with the Internet.

Kind of sounds like the attitude Tesla fans used to have towards Elon.

And the ones that felt the opposite way when he started working for the federal government, with unbelievable damage and dangerous criminal activity.

Hence my use of the past tense: "used to".

“I am pro-life personaly [sic] but it wasn’t those,” he said, using the jail’s internal messaging system. “I will just say there is a lot of information that will come out in future that people will look at and judge for themselves that goes back 24 months before the 14th. If the gov ever let’s [sic] it get out”

The Post’s communication with Boelter, 57, included messages and two separate, 20-minute video visits Friday — and were his first public comments, outside of brief court hearings,

“Can I ask what you heard as an outside person about the note that the alleged person — I’ll say alleged person — left in that car, did you hear anything about that? demanded Boelter, who was wearing a yellow, jail-issued jumpsuit, and spoke with a thick Minnesotan accent.
(…)
“Certain details of that letter were leaked out that probably painted one kind of a picture, but a lot more important details that were in that letter were not leaked out,” Boelter said during the second televisit Friday, refusing to elaborate, only saying the details pertained to “things that were going on in Minnesota.”

Sounds like some lame-brained, nutty Pizzagate or QAnon conspiracy hokum. Guy thinks he's some genius and decided to kill a bunch of public servants. He's such a loser, another "injustice collector" who thinks the world owes him everything. JMO

It should be easy to convict this idiot, since he seems to be proudly admitting he murdered one couple and attempted to murder others. It also sounds like he's proud of his crimes and wants to talk about them. Great. Tell us your story, fool. Then, the state will follow the money.

In the letter, which has not been released publicly, Boelter reportedly claimed he had been secretly trained by the US Military and was asked by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to perform the killings, so that the 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate could run for Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s seat.

What a liar. This garbage human being wants to blame the victims. Can we send him to "Alligator Alcatraz?" Include anyone who tries to defend his lies. Also, he's not crazy, he's just evil.

A lot of a lot information soon, pretty soon, really.

Just another killer with no morals or remorse. He will be going to the mat with "aliens ate the cookies."
